I don't understand why you'd pay for music when you can get it for free!

First off, I feel I should say "Never download music illegally, pay for that s**t. mad ". But that's only because some morals make me.

I on the other hand, have NEVER used Limewire. I don't want that crap on my computer. XD;

Usually, if its :cough: anime music, I use Gendou.Com. They have nearly everything. XD;; Anime that is.

For everything else, I actually just use Google. To be specific, I use Google to get into open access website directories where people uploaded like full albums for their site.... and didn't restrict anything. The usual search consists of something like this (everything between the "", not including them): "intitle:index.of +mp3". The intitle makes it so it searches for "index of" places which are the little directory folders like "Index of /music" or "Index of /wedding_pics". The +mp3 makes it search for mp3 in the hits and then if you put a song title or band after the +mp3, say.... Suga Shikao... it'd be like this, "intitle:index.of +mp3 Suga Shikao nobody knows" and I'd most likely get hits of sites where people have that song in their files.

If I have extreme trouble finding anything by directories... I go to torrents if they exist. BitTorrent.
i'll make you a deal; pay for my red cross & ski patrol courses, my ski equipment, my food bill, gas, etc etc & i'll start paying for my music C:

srsly tho, with money being so tight & much of the profits not reaching most bands anyway, I find alternative means to support them to make up for my pirate ways. Going to concerts, buying merch, joining the occasional street team, or even just buying the actual album once finances are better more than soothes my inner moralfag

User ImageUpdate: so i downloaded Azureous - apparently it's called vuze now. whatevs. - for my torrential needs, but it has this search thing integrated into it where you can search reliable torrent sites (plus vuze's database) for things, so it's pretty much exactly like p2p sharing only faster and you don't have to depend on real people being online (win-win) So i'm probably not going to be looking at anything else since i got my song (i kissed a girl and i liked it ninja ) plus another couple that peaked my interest (when i grow up by the pussycat dolls, and just dance) It looks like limewire is what the masses use though. I do have limewire on my desktop but i don't think i'm prepared to get it on my lappy.

Also, hirun i completely agree with buying music. The only thing is that i don't like entire albums. Usually i only like one song (probably because i have a pretty intensive crap filter) so it doesnt make sense to buy a whole album and singles dont come out that often. I compensate for it though (in my opinion), by going to concerts and buying merchandise, etc. I don't believe in itunes, because artists don't really see as much of those royalties as you'd think they do. I did recently buy the entire collection of Jonathan Coulton songs though via the internets. It's awesome. $70 for everything he's ever done in his entire career. EVERYTHING. O_O there are a LOT of songs in that file.User Image

I don't understand why you'd pay for music when you can get it for free!

Because producing, recording and mixing music is expensive.
It's hard making a living as a singer,
especially when you're infamous.

If you want music from famous singers
like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Nirvana, etc...
I don't think it matters if you buy or download,
cause they've made millions already.

If it's music from someone infamous like Foreword,
(Shamelessly advertising: Foreword Myspace)
I think you should buy their music
to help them make up the money spend on producing, etc.

definitely, smaller bands & labels need the support. I'd sooner download something from Universal rather than something from an small independent label like Kill Rock Stars or URBNET

I use torrents for my music...

Torrentscan.com + a torrent downloader that allows for certain files in the torrent to be downloaded while excluding others...

o.o

*note, you "can" use this to download illegal music (not that that isn't obvious), so I *legally* have to say that it is a no-no.

However, before I used to use a "modified" version of Kazaa called "Kazaa lite K++", its name has changed since then... but basically it's a Kazaa program that got modified; they removed the spyware/adware, and added some speed enhancements.

But Torrents > Kazaa

^_^

Oh, and I would also suggest the use of a firewall with certain IP ranges blocked or the use of a standalone program such as "Peerguardian." Again, I must state that this isn't to be used to illegally download stuff; as this program has been *known* to not allow certain monitoring organizations to monitor what you're doing... (okay, that's the reason why they made it, but they advocate, just as I *officially* am now, only using it to protect your privacy, not to shield yourself from being caught illegally downloading...)

Oh yeah, i definitely respect that. I buy local bands CDs and stuff like that. But I only download really mainstream music.
