when my family cooks, the pasta either lacks taste or is too salty... how do i resolve this situation?

First of all it sounds like you aren't using various spices. I like Cavender's Greek Seasoning myself. You need to find more than just salt and pepper (sometimes the store seasonings work, but they can still be a little too weak). Also try out different spices. If it smells good, it will most likely (about 90% of the time) taste good. Start with a small amount and mix it in, then taste the sauce. Add accordingly.
As mentioned above, tasting the sauce, that is very important. It is a great indicator if the sauce tastes just right. heart

for fish and chicken i like to make the pasta with lemon juice and black pepper in the water as i cook it. It gives a good flavour to the pasta.

It would depend upon what is being served with the pasta. Rarely have I seen patst served as a stand-alone dish. The least topping I think I've seen is butter and garlic.
The salty flavour may be the result of salt added to the water the pasta is boiled in. In some climates (mine included) it takes hours to get water to boil, dashing a little salt in there helps the H2O to break down, and boil faster... If too much is added, it can affect the taste of the pasta.

Simple is best. I usually take either canned tomatoes or fresh tomatoes, simmier in a pan with garlic, and olive oil. Always have herbs of some sort. And the meat of your choosing. I also like to pile in the tabasco sauce. mrgreen

I like to boil my pasta in different stock:water ratios.
Mushroom stock, vegi stock or you can match the stock to the kind of meat that will be served with the dish.
Lightly salt and oil the water, herbing it helps as well. But not too much. Most of it will cook out during the boiling process. Just a little and then toss the rest in at the last moment.

I boil the pasta with a little bit of salt to flavor the pasta
then I make a very simple sauce of olive oil, onion, garlic, carrot, basil, italian parsley and crushed tomatoes with a little salt and pepper

insane_swordbunny4486 when my family cooks, the pasta either lacks taste or is too salty... how do i resolve this situation? why don't you use another spice floving, such as peporica or basil?
