Please forgive me, so young the child was, cut down by these hands. "Even the little ones got grenades, men" and with that we were sent off to war. His eyes glazed as the metal bit into his chest; the rough leather hit the dirt, and I still can't watch baseball without dry-heaving.

I'm surprised no one's commented this yet.
"and with that that " <-- I just caught that typo.
It's a very emotional piece. Good imagery. I especially appreciated the last part about baseball.

Yes, I must say this was really good - some people don't realize that even children are fighting in wars even in this day in age - it doesn't happen in the US tho but in other countries this might be very common...
