Suddenly, a dim light glowed inside the hole. It was obviously far away, since it was about as dim as the light outside of the hole in the passage. Next to the pinpoint of light, another light glowed into existence. There were now two lights right next to each other. One was red and one was yellow.
Then a third seemed to swirl into the place beside the first and second. It was blue. The motion was followed by a fourth, fifth, and sixth light. The lights illuminated a passageway in white light; the specks of illumination formed a dotted rainbow with each glowing orb of light a different color. The last three that formed were green, orange, and purple. All of the glowing spheres of light seemed to move closer to the boys in the cave, until they were unmistakably clear They seemed to be simple orbs of glowing light in a line. It formed a rainbow, but the colors weren't in order. They seemed to beckon the people to grab one, and only one, of them. As if something would appear if they picked the right one...

As the tips of his fingers touched the glowing blue ball of light, a tidal wave could be heard from the depths of the cave. Water swept the floor of the cavern up to their knees. The water level started to rise, and the waves grew with increasing swells. The other orbs seemed to grow a bit farther away as the water level increased.

"Quite right, Leon, unless magma is a possibility. However, if this water continues to rise at a rate like it is, then we'll be sunken treasure in no time! Perhaps there's an orb with a power to cancel the water?" Will then reached for another color, fighting with all his might against the huge weight of the water. Finally, his palm and fingers grabbed hold of another colorful orb. This time, he had captured an indigo color in his hand, and instantly he noticed affects. Will widened his eyes, which instantly began tearing up and he started to hack and wheeze. A dark haze filled the cave, a purple cloud bearing despair. As the boy bent down and coughed his guts out, he turned to Leon to see the response from the elder friend.

Without reluctance, Will tightly held on to the halberd forced into the ground. He pulled himself towards it more and 'tied' his legs around it as well. Then, the youngster was able to reach out for another wondrous orb. Although Will was attempting grab a teal color floating in the cave, the gale was so immense, his hand flew over to a yellow color. He saw a great flash and then a roar soon after. Frantic, he screamed to Leon. "Nothing here is helping us in a sense of passing through the cavern! I fear of was should happen should we grab yet another floating orb? We mustn't hesitate though, perhaps some thing here is helpful? Either way, with this oblong lighting within a cave, we should find another way of staying put, other than this halberd before we are struck by this force!" The tension was building, as was Will's impatience. His eyes narrowed and his eyebrows burrowed deeper down towards his nose. Thought raced through his mind, as possible solutions were hypothesized by the young lad, but were taken away by a flaw just as easily as they had come to him. Hacking again, Will used his free hand to pull his shirt over his nose and mouth. He was then struck, not by lighting, but by a plausible idea. He turned to Leon and yelled "If we can eliminate all of the orbs, an orb of complete blackness may appear. This is the absence of light, meaning that if we should use this orb, we may be able to negate the effects of all the other orbs." The water kept rising, so Will once again attempted to use the teal orb as he waited for Leon's response. He thought that the teal color would turn the water to ice, and there would be less worries and a flat surface.

Will's mind raced furiously, he knew not what he could do as he watched Leon experience several first feelings. But as he saw Leon slipping away to the end of the cavern, he only acted, instead of thinking. Quickly, Will Held on to the halberd and summersaulted over to the other side of it, dislodging it in the process. He began to slip down the chasm as well, but as he was about to fall into his older friend, he did yet another summersault, backwards this way, over the falling Leon. Immediately, he jabbed the halberd into the rock wall. Will was hanging onto the halberd over the dark 'abyss'. "Leon, let go of the ice, then grab onto my ankle!" There was a sternness in the child's voice. He was obviously becoming impatient with the situation. He held out the diamond in an attempt to see if anything would happen. A glow appeared, though there was no color. "Just what we need..." He whispered.
