I "play" oboe, piano, and mandolin. Though, since 1) my oboe is falling apart, my piano is in the key of jazz, and my uncle stole his mandolin back and 2) you can't march with any of them(our director won't let me march with my oboe), I'm a guard girl. I would love to learn tuba though...
Awesome!! That's what I did. I played clarinet for about 5 years, and i liked it, but I really wanted to play tuba since i was little but my parents said no. So i talked to my band director in high school and he told me "Great! You should take lessons over the summer!" But I couldn't afford them. Then I met a friend who played tuba and he helped teach me how. He was kind of a mentor, I had to basically teach myself. One of the other tubas gave me an old mouth piece (I couldn't afford a new one) I always had a natural talent for brass instruments and my band director let me switch cause i'm pretty good even tho i've been playing for 5 months (and without real lessons =3). But i'm a fast learner and I love it. It's fun but i have to work hard to keep up with the others, but i'm already better than them 3nodding (pretty close) I have 2 more years of high school left, so i hope it gets better. If you really want to and your serious about it, maybe you could talk to the tuba section or your band director.
