THE HUNTER

Her hair is near as black as soot
Or ebony, or night;
The grass bends not beneath her foot
As her steps are so light.

Those eyes are brighter than the stars
Are grayer than the dusk;
She hears spider song from afar,
And the soft fall of husks.

Her bow is lovely as a dream,
A slim and curved crescent;
Like moonshine her thin shafts do seem
Gentler than the hand lent.

The mantle on her shoulders is
A pelt of golden fur
And she is oft called Artemis
The virgin, the hunter.

A/N: I was amused by the fact that the last poem posted before this was "Wolf". However, I doubt anyone else will be. biggrin

Greek mythology poetry makes me happy inside. More so when it's well-written.
