The intro to "The Stranglers - Peaches"
is a really nice riff, it's easy too, But there is a slightly complicated rythm to it if you are a begginer, but there should be no worries.
I played guitar before i started bass, as I find bass a lot easier than just starting off fresh with no other musical instruments behind it.

Try Playing a six string for two minutes then rock out on a four-string like the devil had no buisness...listen to dream theater for insperation.

try T.N.T by AC/DC it is extremely simple and the only complicated part is the ending which is a slow slide up the neck while hitting the string every time you go up 1 fret

If your in a punk mood Dead Kennedy's California Uber Alles. I learned that the first week I had my bass. Most of it's on the A string and the only other one used is the E.
