mmmm I have Men in tights, blazing saddles, Young Frankenstein, History of the world part 1, The Producers (both the original and the new one), and Spaceballs....

I need silent movie D:

wow. I was hoping to get Men in Tights for my birthday. But that is one nice collection you got there. I would love so much to see The Producers live though.
I saw the Producers live last week, actually. It was AMAZING.

That is awesome! That, and Spamalot are top on my list to see someday. I almost saw Spamalot once. Ordered the tickets and everything. But something came up and we couldnt make it.

If you ever get a chance, go see The Drowsy Chaperone. It's my favorite Broadway Musical of ALLLLLLLLLLLL time. Honestly.... it's about as amazing as they come.

What I go see depends on what I can get to go see. Usually if theres strip going up to see it, I'll go along. With my grandma's senior groups. Not bad group actually. At the end of february we're going up to Cleveland to see Wicked. Cant wait.

Hmm, I'll disagree with you there. Les Miserables is the best broadway musical of all time. Its pure magic, lemme tell you. whee

It might be a bit much to say one is the best musical of all time. Your favorite maybe, but saying its the best is a sure-fire way to make people mad at you and start an argument.

Ive seen Les Miserables. Saw it back in high School for french class field trip. It was nice. I liked it, but wouldnt say it was the best.

I've seen many, many broadways, and although I like Les Mis, I certainly wouldn't call it the best. I mean..... it was neat and all, but it wasn't my favorite.

Besides, I prefer comedies with happy-esque endings <33 and Les Mis is anything but happy.

I absolutely loved Wicked (book). I'm a big fan of plays, books, movies that take the side or at least explain the side of the underdog. I've got the Soundtrack to the play......but alas, yet another fault of UT is nothing wants to come here. So I'll have to wait a while to see Wicked.......life is very unfair that way.

Well, I see your poinmt about Les Mis.......as much as I love the comedy-esque musicals and such put on by broadway, most of have a hard time making it on to my "Favorites" list. I guess I kinda look at it as I can go watch a movie or read a book that renders the same comedy-esque feeling, so I have a hard time looking at them as something specatcular......there are a few I like though. I loved Suessical.

For me, I don't care if the play is happy or sad; I just want to have it (forgive the cliche) wrap around my soul and become part of me.

LOL, i guess I'm harder to please that way.

You're unlikely to like the musical as much because you have read the book. They're very different. Like.... insanely different.

I still liked it. -shrug-

I like The Color Purple, and it's sad.

And Hamlet..... Oh God, how I love Hamlet.

... but I've always enjoyed a story that has me laughing the entire time to one that has me crying. And I like good humor..... None of this poo joke stuff. I like clever humor.

I'm serious about the Drowsy Chaperone. I adore it. It really is my favorite musical of all time.

I've got a treat for you guys...

But, first:

A synopsis of The Drowsy Chaperone via wikipedia!

The Drowsy Chaperone is an homage to American musicals of the Jazz Age.

Act one begins with The Man in Chair, a mousy, vaguely depressive Broadway fanatic whose coping mechanism involves listening repeatedly to a recording of a 1928 stage show, The Drowsy Chaperone. When he first turns on his phonograph and static breaks from the speakers, he wistfully tells the audience, "I love that sound. To me, that’s the sound of a time machine starting up." By the time the first note sails out of his speakers, he's been transported to a magical dream world, one where the actors in the recording enter his dingy apartment and transform it into a gloriously garish set complete with seashell footlights, sparkly peacocks, glittery sugarplum trees, and costumes that would put the Ice Capades to shame. The show-within-a-show centers on a vain showgirl, who is about to marry a man she only just met, and her cigar-chomping producer, who doesn’t want to lose his valuable starlet. What follows is a pastiche of every clichéd plot thread ever written, including mistaken identity, spit-takes, and gangsters on the lam, involving such campy characters as an all-knowing English butler, a Latino Lothario, and a daffy, cartwheeling heroine. Watching from his armchair, Man in Chair is torn between his desire to absorb every moment of the play as it unfolds and to insert his own personal footnotes as he continuously brings the audience in and out of the fantasy.

SECOND:

The first song in which the company sings. In it is the cast that I saw (apart from one character, but that doesn't really matter) in New York City.

It's pirated.... but.... people do illegal things!

The song is called "Fancy Dress" and it is the first song with singing. It happens after the Man in Chair introduces the musical, and first comes alive in his apartment. This song primarily introduces every character. You will notice the set is still vaguely apartment esque. People enter through the feridgerater. Guests are sitting on the Man in Chair's bed.... etc. Anyway, Enjoy. I'll see if I can scrounge up any other tidbits.

Edit:

Here is a nother scene (stolen from the Tonys, of course) In which Janet (the leading lady... next to teh Chaperone) claims to be leaving show biz <33

http://youtube.com/watch?v=JLDq-2e2JC0&feature=related

This is my favorite song:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=K85TUmGa0iA&feature=related

Unfortunately, they aren't in costume or anything. Aldolpho (the man) is being paid to seduce Janet, but, unknowingly...... he seduces the chaperone instead. He's my favorite character becvause he's such a sex muffin XP

Dont be silly. I've already seen Wicked before. I loved it. And during my year in college, I spent a full month listening to just the wicked soundtrack. One of the threaters there was performing Wicked, but I couldnt go, so I satisified myself by listening to the soundtrack nonstop. It took me the time between the beginning and the end of popular to get to school by walking. And I loved the musical for the twist ending. I loved the songs, the characters, the happy ending that she deserved. It was all so amazing.

I loved Rent on stage; I think I liked it better than the movie; but the mopvie is obviously more convient to see.

I always love how plays/musicals on stage are just amazing. I love how they're able to do so much on stage.
