They just licensed true tears and Shigofumi, two of the biggest things this season, and are selling them at horrible prices. true tears will be sold at $29.99 for the first volume, consisting of one episode, with the rest of the series being sold at $39.99 consisting of two episodes each. Shigofumi is about the same more or less, but with the $29.99 one episode disc as the last volume. Sure, these prices are insane for what people can normally get for free through other means, but Bandai Visual is seriously trying to rip people off. Not only are the prices unreasonable, but they aren't even planning to dub it. They just plan on releasing it subbed, probably not as good as a fansub either. I can't imagine anyone paying $270 for a badly subbed, undubbed 13 episode series.
Bandai Visual needs to realize any average human being can't pay $30-40 for less than an hour of entertainment. Not even those movies with insane budgets cost that much unless it's in blu-ray or HD DVD. Here, we're just talking about some anime, which probably doesn't have a budget to compare with Hollywood films.
With this minor rant, I feel sort of hungry now. Time to find some food. surprised

That's how I felt and still feel to this day about the pricing of FLCL on DVD.
Someone told me once you can get all 6 episodes on one DVD, but I have yet to see it.
Pretty much FLCL was like, $30 for one DVD that held 2 episodes on it.
I know what you're saying Poke, that's pretty ridiculous.
At least FLCL is dubbed, and very well at that. The subbing is iffy though, and doesn't really make sense, but neither does FLCL.

I still remember the day when I saw Earth Maiden Arjuna for $30 each DVD. It's 3 chapters per disc, it's a 13 episode anime, so it's 4 DVDs, and that costs like $120. My reaction: eek gonk scream talk2hand
That's why all the series I have are downloaded from the Internets. We just have to pay the power bill and the internet bill, which are things we still have to pay anyways, fansubs are often better than the original, and I can get to watch the latest series that have been released. surprised
