He's Japanese, but only by ethnicity. He never learned Japanese, and only spoke English. His father could only speak Japanese, while his mother could speak both English and Japanese. He was never able to speak to his father without his mother as a translator. If it's really true, then that must be really sad.
His high school days must've been sad too. He was on the track team, but he was like a senior in the lowest group. And, he was also pretty short, and I don't think he really liked that.
