Yeah! This is my first fanfic story and I’m going to do one of my favorite pairs ever!
CHAPTER 1
It seemed that all the new freshmen back from Naruto's child hood were sitting at one table. Choji, Sasuke, Sakura, Ino, Hinata, Shino, and Kiba. Even the three sophomores: Neji, Ten-Ten, and Rock Lee (a.k.a Bushy Brow) Yep everybody was there... except for one brunette boy.
"Oh you stupid, gone missing once again. Probably on the roof staring at clouds. CLOUDS; of all things." Naruto mumbled to himself rising quietly from the table. Hoping not to be seen leaving just to find Shikamaru.
Naruto didn't make it that far before he heard the voice that could only be the loudest girl in school, Ino yelling from behind him: "Where you going off to Naruto?"
"Just let him go Ino, no need to question him. Why don't we talk about Friday?" Naruto silently thanked god for Kiba as he snuck through the lunch doors to the deserted hallways. Naruto kept walking till he reached the school stairwell that led to the roof.
When Naruto reached the top he saw exactly what he expected, there was Shikamaru lying flat out on the flat grainy rooftop. Naruto walked over to where Shikamaru who was, as he realized, asleep. Well of course Naruto would have to come up with a way to wake him up now wouldn't he? Naruto went over and sat down right on Shikamrus chest and leaned forward until his face was over Shikamarus; and as hid eyes flitted open Naruto yelled in his face "BOO"
Shikamaru woke up unsurprised. "How troublesome Naruto” Shikamaru sat up with Naruto still on his lap. "Yes, Naruto how troublesome."
Naruto seemed to remember all of a sudden "Shikamaru are you coming to the party Friday?""Of course, as long as you'll be there?" Than it was a definite yes. "Good!" Naruto yelled and hugged Shikamarus neck. That’s when Shikamaru finally pushed Naruto off of his lap.
"Don't push it Naruto” When Shikamaru saw Naruto giving him the big blue puppy dog eyes. "Ughhh, how troublesome." Was all could think of. Shikamaru scooped him into his arms and let Naruto hug his neck however much he wanted at the moment. Shikamaru could smell Naruto unique aroma of ramen, dog, and bleach (trying to clean his house again…maybe). Shikamaru enjoyed this smell and loved to inhale it everyday, which would lead to the main reason he liked to hang out on the roof. Next to watching the clouds and sleeping of course. (Tee-hee)
Shikamaru stood up and made Naruto stand up in front of him and looked into his eye as seriously as Naruto seemed to take him at the moment. "Naruto, will you go to a party with me on Friday?"
Naruto gave him a playful puzzled look and put his finger up to his lip as if in deep thought as he walked around him playfully scrutinizing him.
"Hmmm, that depends. Would you consider it a date?"
"Depends on whether you want to call it a date."
"Would you walk me home?"
"Depends on whether my harpie mother would let me."
"Would you tell everyone else?"
~Silence~
"Probably not right away, but if it came to that."
"Ok then....I will be your date."
With that Naruto hugged Shikamaru around the neck. When Naruto checked his watch it was at least 45 minutes into their next class. "Oh Crap” Naruto yelled as he showed Shikamaru the time.
"No, no, no, no, no!" Both of them wailed simultaneously as they ran down the stair-well to Kakashi-sensei's History class. All the student's heads turned as the door slammed open and Shikamaru and Naruto both rushed in flustered and, mainly Naruto, very happy looking and sat down immediately. (No that’s not suspicious at all. Hint, hint.)
"Well your both late which will equal to a detention tomorrow and now you get to stand up in front of the class and tell us what you were doing for 45 minutes." Shikamaru always being the calm one walked up to the front of the class a shaky and red-faced Naruto right behind him. Then he announced loud and clear "We were on the roof watching the clouds." And that was it. All Naruto did was nod his head and they both took there seats again. Naruto smirked happily with no embarrassment. When he was seated again Naruto tore a piece of paper from his work book and scribbled quickly ‘are you going to pick me up?’ and passed it to Shikamaru.
Naruto waited patiently and when he got it back it read
‘Of course, that’s what dates are supposed to do. I’ll drop by at 6:00 since were supposed to be there at 6:15 anyway.’
Good the date has been set, thought Naruto ready for the next day to pass quickly.
After School had let out Shikamaru and Naruto stood in front of the gate waiting for their friend, Kiba to join them like he usually ended up doing. Today they saw him walking towards the front gate with Hinata by his side and everybody else from lunch gathered around him. Naruto clapped his hands giddily and smiled from ear to ear, “Goody, Kiba has gotten everyone to join us today.” Shikamaru only gave a low groan and Naruto elbowed him in gut which produced another low groan. When everybody caught up they immediately started off towards the arcade.
When everybody reached the arcade they all spread out instantly, Naruto playing a racing game with Shikamaru; Sakura went to go play Dance Dance Revolution with Ino; Rock Lee was playing a shooting game with Ten-Ten; Choji was playing digital poker by himself with Shino looking over his shoulder; Kiba and Hinata were off playing air hokey; and Neji and Sasuke stood off to the side just watching everyone play, Sasuke looking a little irritated.
Everyone slowly disappeared from the arcade being picked up by siblings; parents; and even aunts or uncles. Shikamaru; Naruto; and Choji were eventually the only three left in the arcade and it was another hour before the arcade closed up. While Naruto was watching Shikamaru take his turn in Pool he saw Chojis Mom standing near the door waving Choji over to go home. After Choji left the manager came out from behind the counter and said: “Ok were going to close a little early tonight kids…so get out.” Naruto put everything up and finished cleaning up their game and pulled Shikamaru out of the arcade behind him. Naruto handed him his phone and sighed heavily as Shikamaru waited for his Mom to pick up the phone.
When she picked up:
“Hey mom…”
~silence~
“Yeah mom I almost forgot to call, I’ve been with my friends all night.”
~silence~
“Uh, yeah, I’m going to be staying at Naruto’s apartment tonight.”
~silence~
“Of course, with Kiba.”
-Click-
“Oooo-k so I had no idea Kiba was sleeping over tonight. I’ll race you to my car though…” Naruto was already running towards his car, while Shikamaru silently jogged behind him, Naruto jumped into the front seat and locking the doors right as Shikamaru reached the passenger side. Then Shikamaru laughed and held up the keys to the car. Naruto checked himself and realized Shikamaru must have stolen them from him. Naruto scowled at him but laughed anyway as Shikamaru unlocked the car and stepped in.
The door of Naruto’s apartment swung open and Shikamaru stepped in with Naruto half asleep on his back. “I’m surprised you didn’t kill us half asleep at the wheel, how troublesome.” Shikamaru mumbled to him as he set him down on his bed. “Would you like anything Naruto?” Naruto just gave a weak sound that might have been a sure. Shikamaru came back with a glass of milk and some hot ramen. Naruto suddenly sat up and took the ramen and stuffed it down. “Knew you’d take that well” Shikamaru told him as the glass of milk quickly disappeared.
“Ahhhh, now that i’m awake what do you want to do? Watch a movie, play a game, or maybe just lay around until one of us falls asleep?” Naruto questioned now fully awake as he fidgeted with his pillow. (He had never had Shikamaru in his home alone before. Of course Shikamaru had been over many times before but always with another friend.) They were barely ever alone. Shikamaru just shrugged before saying “Whatever you choose sounds good enough for me.” Naruto threw his pillow at Shikamaru before getting up and going over to flip through his DVD’s. “Ok I suggest that we watch….either the Princess diaries or Blade.” Shikamaru shrugged something Naruto knew too well, which meant ‘I don’t care, surprise me.’ Naruto sent him a fake glare and stuck in the movie Princess Diaries half to piss him off and half because he actually liked the movie. Naruto stood up and turned around to see Shikamaru had already found a comfy spot on the couch and had his head laid back his arms spread out across the couch and his legs open wide with his eyes already closed. “So I already know who’s going to fall asleep first” Naruto said as he sat indian style next to him.
Shikamaru opened his eyes “Mmmmm, bet I can still stay up longer than you, crack baby.” Shikamaru declared. He took Naruto into his lap and rested his head in his yellow spiky hair. As the movie started Shikamaru smirked and reached for Naruto’s hands with his. “Oh Naruto this movie is soooo scary!” Shikamaru said sarcastically. Naruto punched his knee but laughed still. When Naruto stood up Shikamaru gave him a questioning look and watched Naruto make his way to the bathroom. Shikamaru heard the door close and a fan come on in the bathroom. Minutes later when Shikamaru was just getting curious out came Naruto…In a dress?
Shikamaru gasped “Oh. My. Good God.” Naruto heard this and turned around to go back in the bathroom but Shikamaru stood up quickly and said “No; no; no; it looks cute on you.” Naruto slowly backed out of the bathroom and walked towards the living room and stopped in the doorway. “Really? I bought it a few days ago.” Shikamaru kind of stared for a minute. Naruto, who is in fact is a boy, was wearing a dress. It was a loose dress on him but hey nothing is perfect. The dress had a V neck and was about mid-point around his neck. The dress went down to his knees and in the middle was a big black bow tied in the front the entire dress was orange of course, Naruto’s favorite color. Naruto just stood in the doorway shifting from foot to foot his face red.
~silence~
Shikamaru walked up to Naruto still a little surprised at what he was wearing. (At least Naruto shaved his legs too.) Shikamaru gathered Naruto in his arms hugging him. “Of course you look cute. You’ve always looked cute. Would you like to finish the movie in the dress though?” Naruto nodded, he really did like wearing it. When they both went to the couch Shikamaru sat down and Naruto stretched across the couch his head in Shikamaru’s lap, and closed his eyes.
Shikamaru really did like the way Naruto looked in the dress. He thought he looked even cuter as he slept his mouth slightly open a small blush still showing on his face. Shikamaru bent his face down and, aware Naruto was asleep, kissed him lightly on the lips.
“Good night my sleeping beauty.”
Shikamaru leaned his head back and rested his eyes not noticing Naruto smiling in his sleep.
