Even though I haven't been here that long, I've noticed a lot of interesting user names in this guild and throughout Gaia as a whole.

So I'm curious, what's the story behind your name?

Mine is not that incredible of a story

Drama: I love theatre in all its forms
Guy: I'm a boy... last time I checked at least
CJM: My initials.

The night I joined Gaia, 3 years ago (my junior year of college), my housemates and I had gone out to dinner at Denny's. The restaurant had one of those skill crane games to play by the door. So I played and won a doll from the Strawberry Shortcake series. Incidentally, later that night, one housemate introduced me to the wonder that is Gaia (formerly gogaia.com). I spent about 4 hours trying to think of an original or witty username. I kept asking everyone in my house for ideas, but I didn't like anything they came up with. Finally, after much deliberation, my friend who got me to gaia said something like, "Why don't you use the name of the doll you got at Denny's?" I looked at the tag on the doll and saw that her name was Orange Blossom. And lo and behold, when I entered "Orange Blossom" into the username field, nobody had taken that name yet. So it became mine and forever shall be mine.

Oh yeah? well about two years ago I was introduced to www.sissyfight.com by Mooby the Golden Sock. I was trying to think of a new user name but I couldn't. That day we had had some pretty good burgers that Mooby and I dubbed burgasms. Inspired by this, I put in the name Bogus Burger. When Orange Blossom convinced me to join Gaia, I kept BB for gaia as well. Then I decided to use it as a general user name for most things I do online.

Bonus Burger should be obvious once you know this story.

I was struggling to come up with a name as I made my account so I asked my friend. She said 'March of the Clucking Chickens' or something like that. I said 'I want it to be short' so she replied with 'Ralph.'

Mooby the Golden Sock

My name's origin is simply complex.

The Mooby part is quite obvious: it's right out of the Jay and Silent Bob movies (particularly Dogma.) I had been playing on SissyFight for a couple of weeks, and I wanted a second account to screw around in the game without having to worry about screwing up my ranking. I liked the sound of the name, so I used it for the account.

After a little bit, I started referring to my username as short for "Mooby the Golden Sock," a play on Dogma's "Mooby the Golden Calf." (A "sock" on SissyFight is similar to a "mule" on Gaia.)

Since SissyFight has a relatively small number of people registered, registering the name "Mooby" was no problem. On larger sites, this name is often taken, so when I find out that this is the case I go with the full "Mooby the Golden Sock."

Also, my name is Shadow.

---|Well, this is my second name change. I'm not going to explain the history behind my very first Gaia screen name, but I'll explain this one and the one before it.

Before this, I was called JaySilverstreak after a character I created when I was about fourteen. That one's simple enough.

[S.E-m] came about when I started roleplaying more. My usual roleplaying concept was an Elvish illusionist of some sort, because most of my characters are Elves and I've always been fascinated by illusion (or "shadow magic", which is its physical manifestation in most of the roleplaying universes I've played in). So, putting it all together, you get Shadow.Elven-mage, with the square brackets around the sides because I thought that was a good idea at the time.
