Savage stepped in front of the keyboard as soon as Cobblepot was done, then started typing quickly and with more force than was really necessary; the hard key hits were a throwback to when he learned how to type on a typewriter, and he never bothered adjusting it to more sensitive keyboard keys. After three minutes, he asked, "Is the same account as before fine, or do you need one with more room?"

Oswald thought for a moment, then turned and pulled open one of the drawers on his desk. "With that amount of money... it would probably be best if you sent it to one of my other accounts." he replied as he pulled out a small business card, then handed it to Vandal. "That should be able to handle a full deposit, then split it up among the other accounts."

Savage took the card and looked at the code quickly. He recognized the back code, because it was one of his own preferred banks. "Swiss. Good. No chance of getting flagged." He punched it in, and hit enter. "There." He logged out, adding, "Feel free to check your accounts. It should all either be there, or be pending bank authorization, depending on each bank's policy towards large amounts of money."

"Your last transfer went through fine. I'll trust that this will as well. If not, it's something I can take up with the bank." Penguin replied, looking back at the computer. It would be easy enough to find out if something went wrong. He doubted that something would happen after the last transfer went so well.

He turned and looked back to Vandal. "Well then... I suppose Miss Ravengraves has a paper or two to sign... and she'll be under your employ."

"I should very much like this to get underway, then," Vandal replied before turning ti Natalia and saying, "I believe that's your cue, Miss Ravengraves." He walked out from behind the Penguin's desk, and took another look towards the back of the room as he did.

He could not get that movement out of his head. It was so small, but still... Then, he had a plan. It would just have to wait until after this was finalized.

Natalia nodded and carefully made her way up to Cobblepot's desk. Once there, she took her usual spot, sitting on the corner of his desk as though it were her chair. One of the things she noted that was that he... wasn't really looking at her. He just dipped into the files next to his desk and focused on getting what papers he needed. Different... considering he usually always at least gave her a quick look over when she returned from being out. If nothing other than to make sure she looked "presentable" while she was out.

He was a little ticked off at this then... despite his professional attitude. That's the only time he avoided eye contact when he had guests. He was a little ticked off at her. A conclusion that actually made the woman grin a bit. She was strangely happy that he was ticked. Made her feel like this wasn't going off without a hitch after all. She had really expected him to be completely against her leaving.

Emily, meanwhile, was about halfway from the corner of the room to the doors. She didn't want to be right beside them, she just needed to be close enough to either slip out when the door was opened, or slip something in the door to keep it from locking. That would be the only other way she could get out of the room quietly with people so close by.

What was worrying her was that Vandal kept looking her way. Not an obvious "kept looking her way", but he was the only one who had looked specifically her way for no reason more than once. Even if it was just a casual glance, it shouldn't have been her way. Perhaps she was just being paranoid because she was in a bad spot, but it paid off to be paranoid most of the time.

Well... as long as he didn't actually COME over her way, she should be fine. If she had to move out of his way so he didn't bump into her or something, she would be fine. That... that would be noticeable to him that something clear just moved out of his way. And she'd probably scuff something like the wall or the floor moving out of his way. Then he'd notice that too. And then the other two would notice. Then she'd either have to freeze or toss stealth out the window and book it.

... worst case scenario. She was just... overreacting. That's all. She'd been overly careful the entire time she was here, he shouldn't have noticed anything.

Of course... she was unaware that the man had a few hundred lifetimes worth of intuition and keen senses...

Emily would still be wrong, of course: Vandal Savage had thousands of lifetimes of experience, most of which he had spent engaging in some sort of criminal activity or conspiracy. Savage still hadn't realized that Emily was there, though, and therefore returned his attention to the desk. He waited for the paperwork to be finalized.

Natalia was still sitting on the end of Oswald's desk, now leaning over to scribble down on a few papers sitting in front of him. She was trying not to grin... or at try not to make it obvious that she was trying not to grin. But she was still finding it amusing that the shorter man wasn't even looking at her. Normally if she was leaning over his desk at this angle, he'd be paying more attention to the view than anything else.

Well... he'd get over it soon enough she supposed. Scribbling down on the last piece of paper, she gently moved the small stack closer to Penguin before smiling down at him and handing him his pen.

"I appreciate you doing this for me..." she said gently. Trying to sound as sincere as she could. The emotion wasn't a... familiar one for her.

"I would prefer not to..." Oswald replied, his tone a low grumble. "But I did promise to let you have the chance for any and every opportunity made available in America. As fond as I've grown of you being here... it would be hypocritical of me to force you to stay."

Natalia smiled, then bent down and gave him a little kiss on his nose. "Now, now... I won't be gone forever. I still have a few jobs to see out for you, and you can call on me to clean up any mess you have whenever you need. Plus.... this is the best spot in all of Gotham. I'm sure I'll be visiting any time I'm in this City again. But... you know how much I've wanted to see the rest of the wold."

Cobblepot gave a small grunt in reply.

"Cheer up, man," Vandal said, "There's another bonus that'll come out of tonight. After all the generosity you've shown me these last few days, I'll never be going to the Calculator for information again." That was probably true; Savage had a habit of remembering those who did right by him, and Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot would be no exception.

Then, a thought struck him. He turned to Natalia and asked, "How long do you think you'll need to pack all of your belongings?"
PostPosted: Tue Mar 25, 2014 12:05 pm

Cobblepot frowned thoughtfully for a moment. Suppose that was... true. He was gaining an obscane amount of money, and Natalia would still be available for hire... and he could possibly be gaining a regular customer in Vandal. Suppose despite him loosing his best means of cleaning out problems... and a pretty little raven constantly perched on his desk.... there wasn't really any loose-loose situation for him here. He'd still have Emily, whom could take care of most of his non-lethal means of taking care of problems.

.... and who RARELY sustained injury when breaking the arms and legs of men twice her size. He only got to see her back briefly as she rushed in and tossed on her jacket before saying that she needed to go see the doctor for the night and ran out the door. But the guard in the hall said that her back was covered in blood.

He wouldn't press the situation now... but he would be getting to the bottom of this. Whether it was talking to Emily once she returned tomorrow, which he expected her to do. She would work in a cast in the past, and would only take a day off if she really, really needed one. Or... by viewing his security footage when he wasn't so busy. There was little way for her to injure her back from his office to Natalia's room, and Emily was too careful to just... fall into something.

Natalia blinked once, then looked over to Vandal. "Oh... well... a few hours I suppose. I have... unfortunately, a lot in my room here." she replied. "Half of which I could easily replace, but I don't believe Mister Cobblepot would appreciate me just leaving." Which... if Vandal got a good look around the room he would probably be able to guess just what sorts of things Penguin wouldn't like being left behind. "It will be nothing to pack up, I just simply have a lot that will need moved out of here."

Vandal nodded. "Excellent. That will be plenty of time to get a new living situation set up for you. I'll get that set up, and meet you..." His voice trailed off as he thought of something.

He turned back to Cobblepot, and asked, "Where is your back entrance? I'd rather not clutter up your main entrance with Natalia's personal belongings. I'd hate to detract from your possible clientele pool for tonight."

"Take the elevator on the far right." Cobblepot replied. "That will take you down to the employee hallway. Go straight down the hallway once you get to the main floor, and take the door on the right. That will take you to the back loading dock entrance. If you take the second to last door on the right, you'll find yourself in the side alley."

"Most excellent," Vandal said with a nod. He turned back to his newly-acquired bodyguard/lover, and said, "I will meet you outside that door in, say, four hours? And be a sport and gather up any remaining notes I may have down there, yes? I'd hate for Emily to have gotten hurt while delivering them, just for them to be left here." He used 'sport' instead of 'dear' to keep the appearance of a more professional attachment, rather than a more romantic one.

Without waiting for a reply (since she technically worked for him now, it would appear normal to any onlookers that he would assume his order would be followed), he turned and started walking towards the door, saying, "I'll excuse myself, if it's not too much trouble. I have a lot of work to do." Then, as an afterthought, he stated what he hoped would provide an answer to his vexing problem about the strange motion he thought he saw, "I believe I'll leave by the alley. Oh, and speaking of Miss Dew, I'll be sure to send her your way," he then added a little force to his voice as he finished with, almost as if commanding, "If I happen to see her on my way out."

He reached the door and opened it, while positioning himself to block from the Penguin's sight the portion of the wall next to the opening side of the door. If his hunch was correct, and she was there, he would be allowing for the perfect escape for her behind himself. He then added, "I trust that would be to your satisfaction?"
PostPosted: Thu Mar 27, 2014 2:07 pm

"Yes, I believe that will do. I am quite interested in hearing how exactly she injured herself. But... as far as I know she left to recuperate. I'm not sure you'll run into her." Cobblepot replied.

Emily, meanwhile, had only paused long enough after the door was opened to make sure no one would be directly looking her way, or that Vandal wasn't going to move right out the door. Taking her chance, she crouched down so that she would not be in Penguin's peripheral vision, and silently made her way out the door behind Vandal. The hardest part was getting out of the room quietly, and without touching Vandal. Once she was out, she could simply plan herself along a wall somewhere and wait.

She was still unaware that Vandal had a hunch that she was there, and that passing by him might give him all he needed intuitively to know that she was there.

Savage slowly stepped back as Cobblepot spoke, deliberately closing up the space he had provided, in an attempt to run into something that wasn't immediately visible. Just after the Penguin finished talking, he felt it. He nodded, ostensibly to acknowledge Oswald's comment, but in reality to himself. He'd found it.

"Very well. I bid you good day, then." In what might have seemed like unneeded motion, Vandal turned the opposite direction of the door, and then appeared to have simply stepped out. In reality, he took advantage of his massive frame to sweep the whatever-it-was (he was pretty sure it was Emily Dew, but assumptions would do him no good) out into the hallway, his large muscular body blocking it from view within Mr. Cobblepot's office, like a magician can use body positioning to prevent a sleight from being noticed by the audience. He closed the door behind them both.

Then, after pressing the now plainly visible mass against the wall, allowing the suit to readjust to its new surroundings, he said quietly, "So, young lady, who do I have the pleasure of addressing?" He looked around, and was thankful that there was no one else present to have spotted the spy.
