Kate was calm, though she did frown as her throat constricted. "You could kill me," she croaked, "but then you'd never get the chance to ask Sheo."
She couldn't help reaching up a hand to grasp the arm clutching at her throat, but other than the frown she showed no sign of pain.

Vincent's coat wavered in the wind. He was returning to Mahtog, for one reason: to right a terrible wrong.
Of all the wrongs inflicted, this was the most despicable and downright evil. Kate needed to be rid of said infliction. Kate needed to be free.
And so he would free her. Even if death was the only way to do so.
