Corbin DeSeer Vice Captain
|
Posted: Thu Nov 09, 2006 9:32 pm
Garbed in a pair of pin stripe pants, a plain white dress shirt, his ranked burgandy(purple) coat, spurred boots and the brand new patch engraved with hebrew over his right eye, Corbin entered the Tavern.
With his DeSeer ARMS pistol hung at his left hip, and a single katana, much like the one he had left at Chance's grave sheathed hanging loosely from his right hip from a decorative belt and strap, he seemed to have gone to some effort with his appearance.
Hair tied back, and his best effort to conceal his inhuman attributes, i.e headwings, tail, torn cheeks and the hue of violet around his eyes and lips.
The moment he had entered, he caught the stench of his inhebriated brother, apparently only just gone from the scene. Grimacing some, he could only speculate in terror just what that half witt had done to improve the quality of this experience for him.
Approaching Raoul's table, Corbin snapped his heels together firmly, and raised a swift saulte.
"General Raoul sir. I hope you weren't waiting too long."

Ahh Leiutenant. Do have a seat.
*Raoul didnt look up at first, instead he finished what he was doing, gestured for vitae to be provided for both of them, then pulled a second stack of papers in front of him*
I trust you are well? We have lots to discuss. Firstly, I have sent Dagoth off in search of Roan. Hopefully both of them will return more sane and I apologise in advance for giving a fledgling a direct order. Secondly, you must return to the mansion and make some provisions for the ghouls. I know you operate your own militia, however it would be a loss to our efficiency if Jan were to die. Please see to it. Thirdly, I have a map of that latest Sabbat movements. Reports came in from the coast teams that another unauthorised ship of Sabbat landed two nights ago. Though most were apprehended at landing, some inevitably slip through the net. The last time we had a coastal problem, we were blessed with a legion of shovel heads ot deal with, plus an uinhealthy number of antitribu. Though I'd LIKE to make it as simple as 'last time it was the Lasombra, this time its the more impetuous Tzimisce'... I cant. The city teams are all reporting an increase in overt activity, several clubs have been raided by other teams including Roan's partner Ravage and what we're seeing isnt encouraging. We're back to war ghouls and Szlachta, and as yet we dont know why. I would appreciate your thoughts on this, and a report on the clans current status.

Taking a seat as offered, Corbin listened to the prince showing now real emotion or interest, until he mentioned that specific clan. His left eye widened briefly, before settling and he smirked.
"The Tzimisce'. I have recently been buried in my own study of them, as fate may have it. They, and their clan discipline are of great interest to me. Its odd though, for any number countable as a group to be on the move together. They mustn't be esspecially great in generation or mastery of their discipline. That, or we've stumbled upon just how they vanish, when they do tend to go mad and outcast themselves. If its all the same to you, i'd like to personally investigate these wanderers, and deal with them with my own units."
Reaching into his caot pocket, he produced two silver tubes. Placing one on the table, and pushing it just a touch closer to the prince, he opened his own, and pulled out one of his cigars.
"I'll see to it that Jan is in the best possible condition, though I doubt he needs much help taking care of himself. I'll increase the guard posts and patrols around the manor regardless. After such a show of power, i'm sure there are a few avengers, and bounty hunters alike about searching for our nest."
Poping the cigar in his mouth, Corbin continued.
"As for the problems with Ravage, I'm not sure I can offer an opinion. Roan never really opened up about a contact by that name. Not that I can recall, atleast."

*Accepting the cigar, Raoul lit his and sat back*
Doesnt suprise me you know nothing of Ravage. As you know, Cainites generally dont get along. The plural of Cainite is 'war' or at the every least 'argument' if they're on the same side. Behind my back, Roan and Ravage are referred to as my bloodhounds and thats accurate enough. Your older brethren have had one or two run ins with Ravage on occasion and it is indeed true that I use the pair to hunt down our more elusive prey - like the leaders of the various upstart cabals and packs that frequently encroach on our territory. Blood hounds indeed. Now I shall relate to you and event that occured some years ago, before you joined the team. I admit I was doubtful of the results of the project I had entrusted Roan with. I wished the clan tested, and despite the winning arguments Roan put forward on her Childer's behalf, tested they were. It was meant to be a simple observation. We had found a Society base in a local church - the Society of Leopold, Im sure you are aware, are what remains of the Hidden Inquistion. Sort of like a Spanish Inquisition for the undead. Well, I sent in a team pf my people headed by an Archon I trust implicitly. After they assured me it was cleaned out, I placed my pawns and sent Roan in with the project. Zachriedek was to lead, Azrael was on board as weaponry expert and Stead, the eldest back then, as technology and explosives consultant. Roan herself accompanied as tactician and back seat consultant.
*Here Raoul paused to enjoy his cigar, staring over Corbins' head for a few minutes*
The test in itself went well. Considering the projects nature, the responses were good and encouraging. The data recorded through the subterranean bases own security network confirmed the reports Roan had filed, and restored my faith in the progress of our experiment. What did NOT tally however was what the team found down there. Despite our previous sweep, on the lowest level of the base, a woman was found. Supposedly one of ours, she turned on the clan shortly afterwards but was easily taken care of. The course of the battle however led to a room we had not previously discovered where many of our missing patrol members were being held. We had presumed these experianced and practiced members of the Camarilla dead at enemy hands, yet many of them were indeed behind held here and had been subject to torture beyond mere interogation. Bringing the captives to teh surface proved the biggest challenge of teh night. I sent two vans to collect the wounded and bring them back for debriefing. What I did not know however was that a third van had also pulled up and abducted the clan members. That bit is a story for another day however. Let me show you what happened to the injured we debriefed.
*Clicking a button, a projector screen descended form the ceiling behind Raoul. He spun in his chair and moved aside so Corbin could see clearly, then slowly and surely went through clip after clip, image after image, of the grossly mutated and injured cainites from the Society facility being asked simple questions by Raoul's men. Some, it was clear, had lost their minds. Otehrs, disfigured and bent into unnatural shapes, begged for Final Death, some merely gibbered. but all bore massive injuries, whether it be open chets cavities, legs which passed through each other, broken bones curved into impaling spikes or other deformities*
Take a guess.

Gnawing on his own cigar out of habit Corbin listened to the prince's story. The story of the clan before he was taken under Roan's wing. Possibly before he even existed in this realm, when he thought about it.
At the mention of Zach, he smirked slightly. He had never really gotten the chance to know that member of the clan, as he was still, to the best of his knowledge, buried beneath the mansion grounds resting. For what reason, Roan and Az would probably know, but Corbin hadn't a clue.
It was then Stead mentioned in turn. The other Cainite that found a daemon blade. Okra if he remembered correctly, that Daemon had driven Stead to madness and was eventually his un-doing.
Sighing, he then propped his right elbow on the table top and began massaging his chin, the silver and gold decorated claw that wrapped around his right index finger scratching gently at his cheek. He watched the slide show Raoul had started, and instantly recognised these afflictions. With a left eye that widened for just a moment, before narrowing once more. He spoke barely above a whisper.
"Vicissitude..."
As the slides continued, he began rattling off the various afflictions more carfully inspected and defined.
"Fleshcraft. The forearms and hands have been bind by the flesh merging between the two limbs. Bonecraft, used in conjunction with fleshcraft. The victim has had his own ribs wrapped tightly around his body, strangling the internal organs. Bonecraft without the use of fleshcraft. The victim's spine has been extended by several vertebrae resulting in a painful tail, and a tight fit in the spine because otherwise it would pierce the skull and brain. That one will be suffering endless agony. Blood of acid. That one got too close. probably lost a weapon, aswell as her arm. Flesh rot. He wont last long from after the time this was taken, it acts as an accelerated leprosy on the victim."
Finally content with his show of knowledge, Corbin took a puff of his cigar, and continued examining the slides silently. The more anyonje else may have watched this, the more they would feel sickened, or a hatred of the Tzimisce welling inside them. not Corbin though, no. He had been focusing the majority of his studies over the last couple months on these monsters. How he would give to have that discipline, or to even have a sample of the Tzimisce' blood. Not only would his research reach new hieghts of tangible productivity, but he himself would be that much more dangerous on the field of battle.

*The Prince quietly turned the screen off*
You are correct in your analysis. Now look at the bigger picture. These atrocities were committed in a Society facility. The implications were severe... and still are. We STILL dont know who was behind this, what role the ociety and the Tzimisce have with each other... or even if the Tzimisce in question were working with the Sabbat or not. The may have turned inependant... we just dont know. As I mentioned other circumstances arose simultaneously with this. We became more focused on those.
I'm sure I dont need to say this Leuitenant... but make sure your so called 'studies' dont end up in Diablerie. The Tzimisce in general are our enemy... if I catch you having tea with them or needlessly putting your clan in danger, I shall have immense fun making SURE you have phobias to certain animals. Remember I know everything Roan has trold me about you. I'll leave you to worry about how much she said, or did not say.
Now, down to business. I would like you to look into these matters. Dot let yourself be fooled into thinking the enemy slow or stupid. Even the atrocities they call Szlachta can be fast and deadly when they need to be. Also, go home first. I mentioned Jan to you and I wasnt kidding. I dont know how much you know about ghouls - you have your own troop I know, but I dont get the impression you'll be keeping any around for longer than necessary. Jan is different. He is over five hundred years old and without regular vitae, he will die. As and when you can, I would like to know what Azrael is up to. I havent heard from or of him for some time. If Dagoth reports back to you before he sees me, inform me. That is all Leuitenant.

"The clan, and the Camarilla always come first, Sir. I have made it my life to serve the Camarilla, and beat away the heathens of the Sabbat."
Taking to his feet, he smiled and gave the Prince a full and respectful salute.
"I will gather information, and supress these heathen fiends for the pride of the Camarilla. If I cannot bring Azrael to contact you himself, you will recieve a full and up to date report on him soon."
"good eve, Sir."
With that he turned on his heels, biting his lip as he left, thinking about the threats regarding Diablorie made. It was obvious that Raoul knew he had committed this act, but then why didn't he strike Corbin down for it? Time would tell, he assumed. Outside Corbin jumped into his Lambo and breathed a sigh of relief, as the engine started and he drove off headed for the mansion.

I dont trust him. Oh thats good. Neither do I. I dont trust ANYbody.
*Raoul turned his eyes from the door Corbin had left by to regard the beautiful woman who appeared beside him. Despite her 'timeless beauty' looks, the Toreador was simply named Jane and he had always thought it one of her redeeming features thats he hadnt tried to change it.*
He's worse than the others. I've been to their place when you're not around. Clan of bloody heathens sir. Yes, I know. And they argue incessantly and whoever shouts loudest tends to win. ... That's better. Corbin is no more a religious zealot than he is totally dedicated to the Camarilla. Only a fool believes totally in something they dont fully understand. Especially someone as powerful as him. One of the reasons we keep them around, remember? Please... Disbelief doesnt become you. Oh and Jane? Dont let his charm get you when you visit.
*The Prince smiled at the sudden silence, followed by emptiness behind him. Though he was known as a hard task master, he wasnt known for being overly cruel. But sometimes... he just enjoyed it. Lighting a cigarette, digging out a bottle of vintage red wine, and putting his boots up on the table, he closed his eyes and turned on Szercho rather loudly*

Good evening Azrael.
*The Prince raised a glass idly to the clearly fuming neonate, realising that shifting his base here had been a smartr move - he'd seen more DeSeer's in the last 48 hours than he had for the last two months.*
Come, have a drink and talk with me. It has been some time since last we spoke.
*carefully setting a glass on the table and decanting a large measure of vitae into it, the Prince sat back and watched Azrael with hawks eyes*

General, I had not realised you were here...

Evidentally, but not matter. Please - drink. This wont be too formal, I simply wish to talk. Having said that though... I must ask, did you intend what happened to Roan? Rumour has it you two stopped trying to take each others throats out. Im interested in what youve been doing, and where you have baan recently, thats all.
*The Prince sipped from his glass and gestured at the one before Azrael*

((Awesome, very nicely done ^_^ don't spose there's any chance of a current and up to date shinigami one some time soon? pwease 3nodding ))
*Azrael nodded and gulped from the glass, clearly thirsty. After wiping his mouth on his sleeve he looked up at Raoul with a more serious expression*
I can honestly say I had no idea, Hades pitted me against a 'Roan' made of shadows, which I merely believed to be another one of his minions...
It seems not...
*he bowed his head and sighed, he certainly felt very stupid*
Can you tell me exactly what happened? Normally when a person dies, their soul becomes a Hell butterfly after a Shinigami performs the soul burial, and It travels to soul society. Even Captain Kurotshuchi of the Scientific development department has never seen anything like this...
