Locke grinned goofily. "That's okay. I think I'm just oversensitive since Trel's missing." He bobbed his head, a thoughtful look on his face. Then he grinned again. "Yeah... that's probably it!" Locke looked to the others. "Oh look! They've started Tag!" His energy seemed forced as he bounded to join them.
Kiran flinched from the poke. "ow!" The pursekitty rubbed his head where he had been tapped exgeratedly. "I'm "It"? You'd better watch out!" He bounded to chase after Yaraif. Tien was laughing so hard at this for reasons the kun could not understand. Its tears shook its whole body until the shaking of Tien's body effected the fluttering of its gossamer wings. The bluegrey kun lurched groundward suddenly as its flying efforts faltered. With a thud Tien fell on Kiran's back, still overcome with mirth. Gaping, Kiran could only look at her funny. Tentatively he stretched his nose around to nudge Tien with it. "Tien?" Still giggling, Tien looked up at him. "Sek?"
Seeing it was fine the persekitty grinned. "You're IT!" he exclaimed joyfully. Shrieking with reproof & merriment, Tien flew from Kiran's back to chase fter Yaraif.

Yaraif had drawn close to see if Tien was alright, a worried look on her face. But when Tien jumped up, Yaraif sped off as quickly as she could, startled by Tien's sudden movements.
Progolo barely noticed Locke's forced additude, but something awkward and suspicious lingered in the air where Locke had once stood. Progolo debated whether or not he should ask the cait about it, but decided against it.

((By the way, this "day" is sometime between Halloween & Christmas, if that's okay with you. My reasoning is a little complicated, but that's where my "disappeared" day wound up. I just don't feel like typing the long explanation today. biggrin ))
Tien speed off after Yaraif, oblivious to the groundbound players for the time being. Truth be, even if the simple kun had thought about it Tien did not know Locke had joined in & it had yet to play games like tag with a human so did not even consider Progolo as a potential player. Of course this was all implying that it could think that deeply. Simply put, Yaraif had Tien's attention -however fleeting that attention might be.
Not bound by the restictions of their gravity-trapped friends the kunkuns were free to display amazing feats of arial acrobatics. If Yaraif zipped away from it, Tien zagged to try & cut her off. Tien was having a blast; unsuspecting that she might have startled the more trepidous kun when leaving Kiran's back. Now was too much fun.
Locke slowed his pace, keeping an eye on the arial display until he padded up to Kiran. With a sigh he sat down beside the persekitty, who acknowledged the cait's arrival with a flick of his head and tail. "I guess that leave us out for a while." His eyes followed the chase, giving no doubt what he was talking about. Locke nodded, equally fascinated. "It's good to see kuns playing like that again."
Memories of scores of kuns flitting across the sky emerged. He looked over his shoulder at where he had left Progolo, his gaze curious. "Why have we only come across Yaraif in all this time? Where did the other kunkun & kyunru go? And their gods? What became of them?"
He doubted the human had an answer. Trelweny certainly had been at a loss when it was discovered. Perhaps they had gone back from where they had come, but why come here at all if they were only going to return? And why not tell Yaraif & Tien?
((haha rofl I'm leaving you with the difficult question! rofl ))

Slightly confused by how agile her playmate was, Yaraif only narrowly avoided being caught multiple times. Finally, when her mind was completely tied into a knot, she accidentally crashed right into Tien while trying to manuever out of the way.
"Eep!"
Progolo breathed in the fresh air of the meadow, sighing at the blissful sight of the kun-kuns. They were moving so quickly that he could only see the glinting of the sunshine through their wings--Yaraif's gold, and Tien's gossamer blue.
"Why have we only come across Yaraif in all this time? Where did the other kunkun & kyunru go? And their gods? What became of them?"
Progolo turned his attention to Locke's inquisitve face, his lips parting slightly.
"Well..."
He blinked. That was a good question.
He brushed a lock of long hair behind his ear before moving towards Locke and sitting on the grass. "I'll be honest...I have no idea. I think all of the kun-kuns and kyunru are still with their Gaian caretakers, though. Ever since Miss Karasu left that note, they just....haven't gotten around to visiting, I suppose..."
He gazed out over the meadow at the two kun-kuns. "I'm just glad Yaraif has found someone to play with." He smiled wryly, "I don't make for a good playmate."

"Huh? Note?" The cait could not read, but he also did not remember seeing something that could have been a note around here. "Maybe she left it while we weren't going out much..." His tone held some doubt; only because the possibility was so strong. It had taken a while for him to feel it was okay to venture out with Shippou while leaving Trelweny & the baby alone. Even longer before Trelweny would join them. There was a lot that had happened in that time... especially around the Kyendi Village. He sighed, laying his head on his paws.
The litte persekitty looked up at this new human curiously. "Why'aren't you a good playmate for Yaraif? Can't you play?"
"I--isht!" The blue-grey kun's eyes popped as the wind was knocked out of it. The last thing Tien had expected -if it could be said a kun thought ahead at all- was for its friend to do the opposite of getting away. "uh--oh!"
It was a phrase the kun had picked up from Theron. Tien loved the sound of it from the tot & would often play the "uh-oh" game with him behind Trelweny's back if the item was small enough for it to lift back into Theron's waiting hand. It knew it was a fun thing to say when something was falling, and right now they were falling. Their collision had momentarily hindered their flightplan.

Not having heard the persekitty speaking before, Progolo was again surprised by the sound of an English voice flowing from a little fuzzy critter.
"You can speak English too, hm?" he remarked. "Well, I'm too big for tag. Yaraif would catch me easily every time, and I'd probably kill her if I tagged her too hard."
Yaraif didn't resist falling, she just dropped like a stone, laughing. The two kuns were quickly swallowed up by the meadow grass.

"umph!" Tien wasn't used to landing on anything but its feet. A dazed look came to its eyes at the strangeness of it all then suddenly Tien was laughing, having decided that it rather liked the experience.
"Surely there's other games you could play!" The happy kitten hummed a phase of "Walking on Sunshine" as the tune started again on his 'player while he pondered over possible other games a human of Progolo's size could play with a kunkun like Yaraif. She seemed so much more delicate than their Tien. His eyes opened excitedly as he got his idea. "That's it! You could play hide'n'seek! Only hide something small & shiny... that way you can play, but do something else at the same time!"
Pleased with himself, Kiran beamed up at the human expectantly. Locke stifled an amuzed grin.

(( *highlights the yellow so he can read it* X_x ))
"Hm...that's not a bad idea." Progolo smiled at the idea. "Yaraif like to paint instead of play games, though. Take a look at these..."
Progolo reached into his pocket and retrieved two eggs, which had been painted in the colors of--undoubtably--Shippou and Locke. The green-striped and orange-red shells gleamed in the sunlight.
"She painted herself to look like her little friend...'Teen,' I think it is, right?"
Yaraif extricated herself from Tien, giggling. "Opa fall!" she said, pointing upward. The sky was almost completely obscured by plant-life.

((*nods* I highlight it too. xp ))
Locke peered at the eggs, mouth dropping slightly. The little kun had gotten the shades of his tail bands nearly perfect. He had not known that was possible. The other one, the red one, must have been for his not currently present familiar. He gave a wry grin at the thought of the ever-hungry fox possibly wanting to eat this masterpiece & held his tongue. "Well, Tee-en." The cait pronounced carefully, perhaps over emphassising the pronunciation. "Trel wanted a short, faelike name and Tien means 'faerie' in Vietnamese."
"These are very good. You say Yaraif painted them? Tien would never sit still long enough to do anything like this." "Yeah! That's shy we have to hide things for her to find to keep her busy! Did you know she doesn't need much sleep?" The little perse kitty was not about to let himself be left out of both things going on. Even if this was only a conversation.
Tien laughed. "Sek! Opa fall!" The green canopy so close to the ground gave her an idea. A fun idea. Grasping a leaf, Tien tied it to her head like a hat with its stem as a chin strap. Another leaf of smaller size she tied to her arm. Searching through the random twigs littering the ground she found two roughly the lengthe oth the kun's arms with buds from failed growths giving the impression of a handle on one end. Handing one to Yaraif she took the other in hand & made an immitation of a fencer or duelist saluting & taking their pose. "Disa! End Guard!"

"Tee-en," Progolo corrected himself. "Sorry. Yaraif always manages to somehow drop a syllable with every name she tries to say. She could say your name well enough, but she kept calling this egg 'Shpoe.' Who's that?"
He turned to the strange yellow critter who had spoken and smiled."Yaraif sleeps in intervals. She'll be awake for two hours, fall asleep for one, then be up again. She's does that through the night too, but she's relatively quiet as far as activities go, so long as I leave a light on for her and a few jellybeans to munch on."
Yaraif took the twig, unsure of what Tien expected her to do with it.
"Disa! End Guard!"
"En-gar?" Yaraif asked slowly, confused. "Heke 'engar...?'"

"San end guard." Tien slashed her stick in front of her as she had seen Trel do when practicing. The kun was a little upset that its friend did not know what it was talking about. Now it would have to think! "Disa end guard... ihi" It batted lightly on the stick Yaraif had picked up. "y ihi Pointing the stick strait Tien 'touched' its friend with the point lightly on Yaraif's chest. "San try stop Tien stick mit san stick y ero try stop Yarf stick mit ero stick... all try 'touch' pelae mit stick!" Nodding happily, Tien obviously felt that covered everything Yaraif should need to know about fencing, or 'end guard' as it thought it was. "Jetzt... herei tabas disa end guard." Again, the blue grey kun saluted -nearly knocking itself out from the blow between its violet eyes- and stepped into a 'ready' pose.
Locke chuckled casually. "I kinda figured. What with it calling itself 'Yarf' & you 'Progo'. It's Yaraif's little kun-quirk. Like Tien likeing to use words from every language it hears instead of just learning & speaking English." His eyes laughed merrily, once again reminded shy he was so fond of kunkuns to have learned their language before they had one in their family. "As for 'Shpoe'... that would be my fox familiar, Shippou from the nickname & markings." A thought crossed his mind & his grin became quite devious. "Shpoe, eh? I'm going to have to remember to call him that."
"woah... Kiran's huge eyes widened in wonder at the thought. "You mean it doesn't braid the long furs of your tail together while you're sleeping? & all it takes are jellybeans?" In his excitement he turned & ran into Locke. "Locke! We've gotta get Trelweny to make sure we always have jellybeans in store!"

(Did you make up some kunkunese words? I'm a tad confused...but oh well. 3nodding )
Yaraif cooed with delight. "Sek! Yaraif unnerstan! Engar!" She did the salute thingy, took hold of her stick, and suddenly dived at Tien.
"Shippou...Mm, that makes sense," Progolo nodded. He listened bemusedly to Kiran, before "saying, "now wait a minute...just because Yaraif will eat Jellybeans, that doesn't mean Tien will. She might prefer...er, braiding your tail hairs to food..."

((heh... no... Tien just likes throwing in Spanish, German, Japanese... pretty much random words in other languages that it likes. xp Hence Locke talking about her kun-quirks. I have no idea why I started doing that. *shrugs* But now it's like a part of the character.))
Taken aback, Tien almost did not get its stick in the way of Tien's in time. Their 'swords' crossed, & it backed up slightly, eyes wide at Yaraif's sudden forcefulness. Letting her back leg slide furthe back for balance she ducked down, attempting to 'touch' Yaraif by going under her stick.
Kiran's little face fell, & his whole body drooped. Even the tune of 'Walking on Sunshine' coming from his head phones seemed to take on a 'dragged' sound, as if it were a tape that had stretched.
Locke gave him a sympathetic glance. "Aw, come on now. He didn't mean it like that. Just that you shouldn't get your hopes up, 'cause no two kuns are exactly the same. It doesn't mean we can't try." The little persekitty's ears perked up slightly & he did not seem quite so dejected.
"We're all a little easily discouraged right now." Although he still watched Kiran thoughtfully the cait's words were directed at Progolo. "You see, Trelweny & Theron haven't been home all day." Concern filled his eyes, which had gained a sorrowfulness about them. "They only went for a walk... few hours at most..."

Yaraif sucked in her tummy to avoid getting poked, squealing wth delight. "San ene engar ero!" With that, she pushed hard against Tien's stick then suddenly turned tail, dashing into the thick plant life. "Nerae catch ero!"
"Who's Theron?" Progolo asked, feeling uneasy about upsetting the funny yellow thing. He hated to hurt another's feelings, and he really hadn't meant to...

"Wait!" Tien cried out in alarm, watching its playmate turntail & too surprised to throw in a non-English word. "Ene tabas in end guard, Yarf! Ene tabas!" With that the kun ran after Yaraif, not quite sure what to do now that its game had been cast aside.
"Theron? Oh that's right. I keep forgetting not everyone has met him. He's Trel & Timex's baby, born not long after you & Trel's kunkun gems were put into bottles. He's a little bundle of not-yet-two human mischief." Locke grinned despite himself & Kiran perked back up the rest of the way, dejection for the moment forgotten. "He's pretty neat, for a baby."
"Yeah, when he's not pulling tails." The persekitty chimed in joyfully, not seeming all too upset about it.
