The King nodded. It is something about them. I dunno why. I suppose it's not very attractive to the lady birds or something. I haven't looked much into crow politics. But to Gossamer she is his *Murder.
The seasons here were too unstable for the rosebushes she had been bound too. Said the Queen. She would be sick as a dog in the winter and fall, or running about looking like a monster during the spring and summer. Magic is a very fickle thing. Too much permanent spells in one place makes things go haywire after a while. We tried to make the seasonal gardens here... only to find plants icing over in the spring side and plants catching on fire in the winter side. We had no choice but to send her away.
As James talked with Tarana's parents, a figure garbed in red, white, and silver poked their head through the door to the dungeon. I smiled as I watched James talking with my parents, as casually as you please... I leaned against the door frame, waiting for them to notice. He was petting Astra, and Gossamer was on my shoulder, now the size of a normal crow, though still with his unusual markings. He hopped down my arm and perched on a leather glove I was now wearing, as he looked at James with both eyes, turning his head this way and that so he got a good look at the man with both beady blue eyes...*Murder being flock of crows larger then 4. Mob = 4, Murder = 4-20, Larger = Unkindness.

(ahh I see, interesting. smile ) James nodded, that made sense. Even though he didn't know much about magic he oddly understood what they meant. After her mother had finished he turned to notice Tarana leaning there with the white crow perched on her shoulder. Giving Astra one last kind and friendly pat he walked over to Tarana and Gossamer. "Is everything alright now?" he asked her looking over to the crow perched on her hand. James was hesitant, though he couldn't help but find Gossamer's feathers to be pretty. Slowly holding his hand out to the crow he stared into one of it's eyes kindly. "I hope you're feeling better Gossamer. I was worried for you both actually." he said looking over to her then back to her Familiar. If James became a mage...would he end up with a Familiar as well? Come to think of there there were a lot of questions on his mind now. He held his hand out to the crow to see if he could pet it, though it was still safely away from any bubble zone the bird had, and a bit close away from James. Though he was still cautious. Astra was alright, but Gossamer was Tarana's familiar. So maybe he was a bit more protective of the Queen. It sounded almost like a marriage, like in some strange way, this crow was kind of her husband.

We rekindled our bond with eachother. I said with a smile, watching my feathered friend before glancing to James. We both missed eachother deeply, and we spend some time talking about the goings on and what's been happening.
Gossamer tilted his head at James and half flared his wings as James's silent question with his hand... before settling down and I inched out my hand some.
He likes to be stroked on the back of the head. If he makes a bubbly purring sound, you're doing it right. I reached forward with my other hand and started stroking the back of his head with a finger. Like this.
Gossamer couldn't help but make that purring sound as he squeezed his eyes at my attentions. When I stopped he then looked up and tilted his head at James.
He's willing to get to know you... for now.

(Out of curiosity but is your avi matching the character in this rp? Because she looks regal. ^^) James gave Tarana a confused look. What did she mean..for now? Though he was glad they were able to make up, or patch up. Looking at Gossimer he wondered if they could become friends? Familiars sounded like they only cared about the one they were bonded with. After she had shown him where to scratch her Familiar, James cautiously stretched his hand out and began to stroke the back of his head gently. His feathers felt soft to the touch. Smiling warmly at him James hoped that he was petting him right. "He's very majestic. Gossamer matches you perfectly Tarana. Both of you are elegant and mysterious." he softly said to them both looking at her. His wife was amazing but now that she rekindled her bond with her Familiar did that mean it would be harder to get close to her from now on? Sure Gossamer was acting polite right now with her around, but what if James ended up being alone with him sometime? He had already lost his mother, broken a curse, and now had to possibly learn how to use magic. How many more hurdles would he have to jump over? Hopefully this was it with all of the surprises Tarana had, though something told him she wasn't finished yet.

((I was infact trying to re-create Tarana. Her outfit isn't the exact same, but this could be a coronation outfit or something for when she gets crowned Queen.)) I smiled at him as Gossamer did his happy bubbly purr. His eyes squeezed shut as he held still long enough for the man to finish his pettings.
I smiled when he spoke of mystery, and Gossamer lit from my hand and perched on my shoulder, tickling the side of my neck with his two trailing black peacock feathers that framed his white tail. He flared his wings dramatically, as we both struck a pose for James playfully... before I broke out into uncontrollable giggles, and Gossamer started cawwing in a laughing manner.
When we both calmed down, I looked to Gossamer as he looked at James again with that weaving head motion. He turned his head three times, ech allowing him to get a good look at James with each eye.
kAAww! kAAww! kAAww! He kawwed.
Oh! I said. That means he likes you! He made a burbling purr sound in response to my words.

He laughed too at her playful gestures. Tarana was cute, he was so lucky to have met her. To his surprise her Familiar seemed to like him as well. Placing a hand to his heart he gave a bow of respect to Gossamer. "Thank you Sir Gossamer." James said with kindness and respect in his voice. Then his stomach growled, blushing he looked away in his embarassment. "Uhh..c-care to show me around?" he asked, "After all this will be my home from now on as well." Astra joined them and stood next to Tarana. Looking back it seems that her parents had magically vanished? Maybe they teleported to give them some alone time? There was still a lot to take in, magic was still so very new to him.

Gossamer puffed up his feathers proudly and flared his wings at James's bow. I giggled and stroked his head. He made that bubbling purr again.
I the heard James's stomach growl. I giggled before holding out my hand. Come, let us get you some food, shall we? I said, before glancing up at Astra. I smiled at her. Sorry friend, you're not going to find any demon meat here. You'll have to go hunting around.
Astra nodded, blinking with that intelligent gleam in her eye, before turning and trotting up the steps.
Leading James up the steps, I lead him to te dining hall. A massive room with one long table, I settled down in a seat near the head after ushering James to a seat next to mine.
Think of whatever you are craving love... it shall come to you~ I said.
I closed my eyes and put my hands together, looking almost as if I was praying for a moment... before a large plate full of chicken curry and rice formed infront of me. I smiled and dug in.

Everything about her home was magnificently beautiful. James was in awe while she led him to the dining area. Giving her a look of confusion as they sat there, he was to only think of something he liked? Immediately food appeared in front of her. So no one really cooked? The food was just magically created? Was that even healthy? James looked at what she had made appear and knew he could create that with ease. Still his stomach growled and he closed his eyes. Oh well might as well eat magic food for now. Though once they were settled he definitely was going to make sure she ate home cooked meals from time to time. Picturing his favorite meal, a plate with a roast his mother made along with hearty mashed potatoes and rolls he opened his eyes to see it staring him in the face. James looked surprised and gave it a poke. It was real! Had he just done magic? Picking up the knife and fork he began to eat slowly and with good table manners. It was something he was taught and made sure to do. Still this bugged him a little. Maybe he would get used to it, but for now he would try to find times to cook for her. Hopefully Tarana would allow him to.

Time passed, and days became months. As time passed, Tarana taught James magic; he learned that naturally he could read people's hearts, and Tarana was eagerly awaiting to see what kinds of elemental magic he was attracted too.
Today was a big day for James... it was the day he would get his familiar.Tarana was out, gathering various creatures with Gossamer that showed potential to bond with him... He himself found himself in a meditation room, meditating upon this step in his training...

During that time James matured. No longer was he the timid man she had met and fell in love with. As he learned of his magical powers, certain magic spells, and whatever else his lovely Queen taught him, he also grew closer to Tarana. There would be times where she would magically hide and he would have to find her. A sort of lover's magical hide and seek. James found that he had taken accustomed to the element of Water. It calmed him, and soothed him. His heart was gentle and kind so Water magic seemed to just bubble from him easily. Because of this, he was now trying to find ways to combine his powers with Tarana's. Wind came next, then Earth. James was more of a healer, a protector. In fact, his healing magic had grown powerful as his potential began to spread it's wings. Today was a special day, like his soon to be wife, James would find a familiar to bond with. Through magic he had been able to communicate with Gossamer, like her, and was amazed at what her Familiar had to say. He had become friends with the bird, as well as Astra. Sitting quietly in royal robes upon a floor surrounded by symbols James meditated. Feeling the elements that had chosen him flowing through him he waited. What kind of familiar would bond with him? Tarana had said that the Familiar would choose the mage, just as much as the mage chose their Familiar. He was excited. This also meant that he would become a full fledged mage and this also meant that soon he would officially marry Tarana and become the King to her Queen. James was happy now, though he did say prayers for his mother every so often. If only her heart hadn't become dark, maybe she would have been able to live in the city with him. Maybe someday, he still held onto the hope that his mother would break her petification spell.

He meditated for a while, before a gentle knock on the door was heard.
I entered, dressed in my royal regalia. I looked upon James with pride and happiness in my eyes; he had not disappointed me yet! He was growing with the elements of Water, Wind, and Earth, and while we both shared Wind, my calling was to Fire and Plants. I was already a master in all of them, thanks to my extensive studies alone, but my main three was Fire, Wind, and Plant.
Hello, My love. Gossamer is with them now. Shall I lead you to them?

When she entered he opened his eyes and had wind gently blow the door shut. Standing he walked over and pulled her into a deep kiss. His eyes sparkling with magic he smiled warmly to her. Locking their fingers together he stared into the magic that sparkled within her. He could feel her heart melting with love and beating with joy. "In a minute. I haven't seen you all morning so I wanted to just taste your lips." he smiled nuzzling their noses together. Wind is an element they shared, but with Water magic he could make it rain to support her Plant magic. He did have a slight advantage over her Fire magic, but his Earth magic had no effect on her Plant magic. "I'm nervous, how will I know? What was it like for you when you were choosing your Familiar honey?" he asked leaving their hands connected so she could lead him out of the room. Dressed in robes you could hardly tell he was an outsider to the Kingdom.

I kissed him back deeply before allowing him to just stare into my eyes as I looked back deeply into them.
I got him when he was a little ball of fuzz. I said with a smile. His mother sneaked him into the room when my parents weren't looking, as his mother wanted to ensure he had a good life. My parents wouldn't have let them in otherwise. Crows are said to be bad luck, but Gossamer has been nothing but good to me. I remember when my parents tried to get me to reconsider, and I just cuddled him to me and ran off. His peeps were so cute! I knew because his soul sang with mine. I smiled, remembering that fond memory of getting Gossamer.
Walking with him out the door I lead him to the familiar room. Opening the door and stepping in, I could see dozens of animals, all waiting patiently for James. There were owls and falcons, a deer, a mother cat and some kittens, two swifts, a small drake, a squirrel, a Jaguar, a spider monkey, a lemur, and a tiny Marmoset monkey, two bats, a very large dragonfly...
Gossamer was flying around in the center of the room... The tiny marmoset had decided to take a ride on his back. He was kawwing in a manner that was both lightly annoyed and amused...

As he listened James smiled at her story. He hoped that he would be able to bond with his familiar like that. Walking into the room he began to look at all the animals. Oddly they seemed well behaved and he tried not to laugh at Gossamer. That must have been annoying. ____________________ Laying out in the plain sunlight a ruby colored shine of her scales gave her away. Her belly full and slightly bulged from devouring a mouse for lunch the gardener snake made the mistake of curling up to sleep in the dining area of the castle. Suddenly a loud yelp woke her and her rose colored snake eyes looked up to see one of the maids running off. Soon a guard arrived and she looked at him with confusion. Too full to move she was stuck as the man inched closer.

As much as James looked about as the animals, he didn't feel attracted to any of them. When they themselves realized that James didn't sing to them, they became less... well behaved. Sure, the tiny monkey on Gossamer's back was cute, and the Falcons and Eagles were cool. The owl was hooting at him, and the swifts were trying to fly circles around Gossamer. The mother cat was grooming her kittens and the drake was chasing the squirrel about, trying to eat it...
~~~
The guard looked down at the snake and eyed it, before looking about. No one was here to claim this interestingly colored creature, and it looked kinda sluggish. He finally shrugged and waved a hand, and a golden glowing, seemingly metal cage formed around the creature. The bars were very thin, too thin for her to get out from between with the lump in her tummy...
"The King and Queen are busy... I know! I'll ask the Princess what to do with you!" Said the Guard, before heading off with the cage in hand...
~~~
It was a few moments later, as James was still pondering the antics of the creatures before him, that there was a knock on the door. I was already next to it, so I opened it to see the guard standing there.
He lifted up the gate with a very pretty ruby colored Garden snake. "One of the maids was startled by it sleeping in the Dining room." Said the guard. "What should I do with it?"
