The determined green shoving her way through the girls, intent on finding hers, was proof yet again to Lilah that the back was absolutely the place to be. It was practically impossible to be in the way! The clumsy green headed their way, too, she could see by peering through the gaps of the people in front of her. Apparently she didn't want a boy after all.

The green with a purpose pushed her way through the ranks, snarling at one girl who wouldn't get out of the way fast enough. Going from intent to vicious in a flash and then back again made the girls spread out further but when a certain someone followed the rest, it caught her gaze and she veered off her path, heading straight towards one girl in particular.

Like a missile homing in on it's target, the green looked like she might even walk through whomever she was aimed at until she stopped and stared intently at Mya. Feed your Mawsith Myamine, stand with Yours. We have much to do!

The one had Impressed, leaving the other green to search or play, it was hard to tell, she seemed intent on cheering up those around... though her actions might not have been particularly productive on that front.

Among the eggs, another had hatched, albeit quietly and without fuss from the Expanding Mind Egg, a handsome blue sliding from his egg to unhurriedly begin flicking muck off of limbs almost like a gentleman - not vain, simply without the rush and fluster of his sisters.

Lilah tensed when she heard the Resilient green snarl at one of the girls, sure for a moment that this would be the first one to shed blood, but she was wrong. The pessimistic girl breathed an unashamed sigh of relief when the dragonet Impressed, and went back to keeping an eye on the more cheerful of the two sisters. Just because she was happy didn't mean she couldn't hurt someone without meaning to! Still, the more immediate danger was out of the way, so she relaxed a little, shifting positions quietly.

Falawny thought that perhaps one of them had Impressed. The girls certainly moved out of her way fast enough. He glanced once more toward the queen and remaining eggs. Would another hatch before that other green Impressed or after? All he could do was wait. A blue had quietly made his entrance. Which side would he pick?

Emkin moved slightly aside, to give those closer to the green room. She was a bit snappy. Her eyes watched until the green had decidedly Impressed to a girl. Another pair down. That first green was lively though.

Winderick stood on his toes. He was not as tall as some of the other boys in his group and standing in the middle made it difficult to see what was going on on the girl's side. Eventually he gathered that one of the greens had Impressed, most likely the aggressive one. Well, that was a relief. When he spotted the more playful green still wandering around he felt faintly worried but not terribly so. After a few seconds of watching the playful green he noticed some of the candidates looking back to the eggs. Realizing he must have missed something, Winderick searched the nest and quickly spotted a blue standing there. Where did he come from?

Uh-oh.

Something had caught her attention.
Mya had been about to spread her arms out in a shielding manner to keep the ones behind her safe when-

*Feed your Mawsith, Mya!Mine, Stand with Yours! We have much to do!*

Then there was that feeling of joining. The sensation of a proud spirit that bolstered her own heart and soul. An unwavering ally, a kindred soul and a support she herself could lean upon and never fear to fall.

Six long Turns of loneliness have finally come to an end.

Finally, Mya came back into herself and was shocked to find tears ready to fall again.

*Come Mine!* Mawsith tossed her head and arched her neck proudly, even though her stomach cried out for the meat so nearby. *Show them that you will not wither!*

At that, the brunette grinned and took her place at the Greens' side as they moved through and out of the Grounds. "Then lets get you something before you fall to pieces, you dimglow."

Mawsith only grunted at the playful insult, though her eyes glittered a bright blue/green as she walked with wings and tail held high.

Two greens had hatched pretty much together. One of them had headed off towards the boys while the other came their way. Dezima felt that small flutter in her stomach that one of the dragons were coming their way again. She was so pretty! And then the second green, after a spectacular roll that landed her sitting and staring at the boys, decided to come their way as well. Two green beauties heading for them! Except, the one green was determined to find Hers. Dezima moved out of the way with some of the other girls as the green moved through until she did indeed find her bonded. The weyrbrat grinned in silent congratulations to the new bonded pair before her attention turned back to the second green. At the same time she glanced back towards her, a flash of blue back by the eggs caught her attention. Ooooh! It was another blue! She caught herself just grinning stupidly at the successful hatching of yet another dragon.

The happy green meandered about until she stopped and stretched her head out, cocking it to a side as if listening and then she was off like a shot, running and shouldering and squirming her way through the girls to nearly bowl one in particular over. A sigh like a laugh and a purr combined escaped her as she shoved her nose into Persephone's stomach, Your Pyrth has found you and will never leave you Persimine but Yours is hungry!

And that left the blue alone on the Sands and he looked up as if sensing this. As all attention swiveled back, he merely tilted his head to one side then the other, as if taking it all in stride. Oh, was it his turn? he seemed to be saying.

From his lack of rush, he either knew who he was going to Impress already or he wasn't going to Impress at all... and the latter option frightened more then one person. Any dragon lost from this clutch would only deepen the tragedy unfolding - for with each egg hatched and matched... it was another egg closer to Yirath's demise.

What happened? Did one of them Impress? Rufet tried to peer around the taller Candidates. He couldn’t see, but he wasn’t about to move from his spot! All he knew was that there were two greens in the vicinity of the girls; whether or not they Impressed was lost to him.

The movement on the Sands caught his attention. Oh! Another one! Rufet watched the blue dragonet eagerly, his attention focused on him only because it was the dragonet the small Candidate could see. But... what was he doing? Rufet chewed his lip nervously. Wasn't he supposed to head towards one of the groups? The other dragonets did. Nervously, Rufet looked up to Yirath then down to the blue dragonet, watching and waiting.

Winderick glanced back at the girls just in time to see the green Impress. He could not see very well because she pushed through the crowd, but when she found Her's it was obvious by the way everyone reacted. He was amazed by the resilience of these dragonets with their mother dying in front of their eyes. After the green Impressed he turned back to the blue. As the blue sat there tilting his head Winderick began to worry. He held his breath. Come on. Don't give up.

He thought he spotted the first green walking off the sands with a girl from the corner of his eyes. Good for them. No screaming, so he assumed no one had been hurt. Now it was just the blue dragon under countless pairs of eyes. Did one count the dragons too? Perhaps, they were watching as well. Your move, he thought at the blue.

Emkin gave a congratulation smile as the lucky girl. Such beautiful dragons, both of them. She realized now, that there was another dragonet waiting on the sands. A sweet little blue. How gentlemanly to let the ladies go first. She suppressed a giggle and continued to watch him.

The blue flexed his feet and cocked his head towards the girls, searching the forward rank with a critical eye before he puffed and shook his head. No, His was not among the girls, not at all.

So, he started towards the boys, peering up at them, evaluating them and obviously dismissing them. There was intelligence in his whirling eyes, a keen understanding that bordered on empathic as he weighed each of the boys against his own needs and found them wanting. Half pacing, his posture was neutral... hard to read save those intelligent eyes and he made no effort to communicate further then that. His was here.

He just had to find him.

Oh, good, another blue! Mal had been glad when the green had moved on to the girls, and was almost as glad when the blue moved on to survey the boys. This one gave away very little, though, where his clutchmates had mostly had very obvious, strong personalities. The only thing clear about this dragonet was that it was keenly intelligent, that it knew what it was looking for. But what was that, exactly? And would he find it at all?

The blue was just as Winderick remembered him - opaque. While he inspected the girls he watched curiously, vaguely concerned and unsure of what to make of the dragon. He hoped the blue knew what he was looking for. After a while the blue arrived at the boy's section and Winderick was able to look at him more closely. Even though he appeared calm, indifferent even, Winderick remained cautious. If the blue could not find His here he might start to panic. As the dragon gradually made his way through the group Winderick prepared to get out of the way if necessary. His heart was beating almost as fast as when that clumsy green barreled at them. He did not know what to make of this blue, but he was as curious as he was wary.

That was not good, the blue lingering on the sands like that. Halifanth craned her neck further, watching him so intently that her tail had stopped moving at all.

You're going to fall, Eliaza warned her, though the green was in no real danger of doing so.

I will never fall, the dragon insisted. But I worry, Mine. He is so slow. There are many there, waiting for him. He must choose, he must choose. We cannot be alone.

The same worry had begun to creep over Eliaza, the longer he took about choosing one of the candidates on the sands. They couldn't afford to lose any of the hatchlings, not this time around. Not with Yirath so ... well. They couldn't afford to lose a single one. He'll be fine, Hali. Just wait. You'll see. She hoped.

----

The rest of the dragonets had been so sure about who they wanted, that this meandering blue had more than one candidate looking nervously at his neighbor, and Cormeric was no exception. Brow furrowing and his until-now broad smile a little dimmed, he watched the blue inspect the ranks, so to speak, looking between the hatchling and the boys who looked most nervous or the ones who had suddenly stopped fidgeting. Was that it? Had he chosen? But, no, he moved on again, and Cormeric's fingers twitched toward crossing. The blue had to pick someone...
