He wasn't that surprised to hear about Adonijah, remembering how much the little boy loved animals. Though he probably grew more since the last time they saw him.

"Does Adonijah still prefer animals to people?"

Ulani rolled her eyes. "Yes. Poor Aliya ... but at least he doesn't run away like he used to, he just closes up whenever there's someone around. Honestly, I think Aliya and Amdir are the only ones who he's spoken to more than he's absolutely been forced to."

She sighed. "Even the twins can't get more than a few words out of him, and Adanedhel tries but ..."

She shrugged.

Elnara looked up at Lore and motioned for him to come and sit with her, then looked back at Ulani.

"How old are they all now?" she asked curiously. "Arwen obviously is a young woman now, no longer a child ... as I recall, Adanedhel isn't much younger than she ... and the others ... I have no idea anymore how old they might be."

In some ways Lore wasn't overly surprised, though he kind of hoped that maybe it had gotten better. Apprrately not.

"I guess he's still just very shy, has Tao tried anything. She's a very outgoing err... creature."

Since Tao liked pretty much everyone who would give her a pet.

Ulani smiled. "Well, Tao does try ... but he's a stubborn boy, I'll give him that. Takes after his mother that way."

She laughed. "And in a way, his grandmother, I suppose," she added with a grin. "He's eight now, and the twins are twelve. Adanedhel is fifteen, and he's ever so persistant in reminding us that next year he will be an adult, able to travel on his own if he pleases. I suppose you've already seen Arahad ... quite the opposite of Adonijah, sometimes it's hard to get him to be quiet, even when he's sleeping."

Lore chuckled at that, it certainly sounded like he was a stubborn boy. Even though it had been five years maybe if they waited a bit longer, maybe... just maybe someone might get him out of his shell.

"So will he? Adanedhel I mean, travel once he's sixteen, he sounds quite eager to."

Ulani laughed as if the idea were a big joke.

"Not if Aliya has anything to do with it!" she exclaimed, her eyes dancing with laughter. "I think she tends to forget how young Amdir was when he came out here, but really, Adanedhel is the same age Aliya was when the ranch first started up. She wouldn't let anyone consider her anything less than an adult then already, so really Adanedhel is no different from her."

She giggled again. "It's interesting seeing how similar the children are to their parents. Adonijah and Alyse are definitely more like their father, but Adwin and Adanedhel are Aliya all over again."

Lore chuckled at that, so perhaps not too quickly Adanedhel would be gone, which was good to know actually.

"And this would be the reason why parents always say wait until you have children, in at least one arguement," Lore murmured.

There was something... highly amusing about it all.

Elnara smiled. "I know how she feels," she murmured softly. "Shiro wants to go with Lin and Earendil when they go on their journey ... and as much as I would like to keep him safely at home, I know I can't stop him. Or Celebor, from living in his own world with his own family now. It seems only yesterday he came out of his vase ... but it's been over two years already."

Ulani raised one eyebrow at Elnara and leaned forward curiously.

"You make it sound as if that's a long time," she commented skeptically. "I mean, I know their kind grow up fast, but still ... only two years?"

"Stage growing races mature quickly, quickest is within a year or less than that, at longest maybe three... four years," Lore replied, "After that they don't age as fast or they don't age at all, but yes... two years is quite a while for them."

Stage growing races he didn't add were also the most fickled, sometimes when they grew no one knew.

"Lin is only a bit over a year I recall and she wants to go with Earendil.. I don't think there is going to be much stopping her from what I understand."
PostPosted: Sun Sep 14, 2008 5:59 pm

Ulani had to grin sheepishly at that comment.

"Yes ... there's never been a force that could stop Lin from doing what she got it into her head that she wanted to do," she laughed softly. "That girl ... I swear, if she doesn't wear herself out it will be a miracle. She wants to do everything there is to do in every world that exists, it seems."

Her smile grew warmer again. "But I'll be the first to admit that she's fun to have around. Never a dull moment, I have to say."

Lore chuckled at that, "Well.... Shiro.. Celebor... all of them, two years isn't long compared to most other children, but they are grown up."

Laughing a bit more he considered Elnara for a moment.

"But it's understandable in what how Aliya feels, every time the children come up or say something that makes you realize they're not little anymore... and Celebor... give him another year or two and he'll be feeling the same way as us."
PostPosted: Sun Sep 14, 2008 6:18 pm

Elnara smiled softly. "Ah well," she murmured. "The day will come when we will have a normal child to fuss over, I'm sure. It's difficult to compare stage children with natural children, after all ... like Lore said, they're nothing alike, either physically or mentally. Look at Idhril ... I'm sure she has the mind of an adult, but she is still a child."

Ulani's eyes lit up at the mention of Celebor.

"Yes, Haradhel said that he has his own family now ... tell me about them? I'm dying to hear what our little Celebor has been up to."

She laughed. "He must be so grown up now ... he was still a teen the last time he was here."
