That would be really cool gerp. I have a lot of questions about your trip but you'd probably strangle me for so many. xd So I'm going to limit it to the one I've always wonder about. Is it true that Germans have a very close personal space? I've heard that they will just walk right up to complete strangers and sit with you in pubs or restaurants with limited space. It seems kind of weird to me, but then again some cities are very small for their population, so it would make since they wouldn't mind being close together.

Actually Katie, you can ask AS MANY questions as you want. I LOVE answering questions about my trips, just don't start repeating them XD.

Is it true that Germans have a very close personal space? Well, I was in a very large city. Actually, the city itself wasn't huge but its population was 1 million+. Everyone lives in apartments. They are in close proximity to people so they don't nessecarily (sp?) shrug away when someone gets close. I think the only time that someone would randomly sit by you in a pub or restuarants is if it is the only place to sit. Now, Germans are pretty friendly (like hugs and stuff) with their friends. The normal greeting is a with a peck on both cheeks. It kinda shocked me when these girls I don't know greeted me when I first arrived. And couples don't try and censor themselves too much in public either, its kinda gross actually. Also, most take public transportation and it gets very crowded. Sorry for the long explanation, I tend to go on and on and on. XD

I see. 3nodding Thanks Grep. You're very lucky and since you said I could ask more; Did you visit the country side while there? I heard they have some lovely scenery in places. Lots of old churches, and some ruins. I bet the architecture in the city was interesting too. Older cities tend to have modern and old side by side.

I promise I will try not to repeat questions. biggrin

I know how you feel madam. I'm also on vacation and right now I'm trying not to kill my cousins. I went and pounded some of my frustration out on the raquet ball court this morning, but I'm mad again. There are 11 kids, and 5 adults all crammed into a 3 bedroom condo. Do you think that would require some patience? I've been with this mad house since Thursday morning, and I'll tell you right now that I don't have infinate patience. I'm about ready to scream.

Yes, we did visit the country and yes, it was beautiful!!!!!!! There are a lot of ruins of pretty castles and we saw a lot of old churchs. When we were in Koeln, we saw some of its history. It used to be a Roman town and so there were ruins under the city. We saw a small museum with the ruins in it and we also saw people still excavating the ruins. Its amazing how many of the walls and what-not are still standing.

People back a least a century ago, had to make things last. They put their name and honor into what they built and made because they couldn't lift up a building that heavy and fix a mistake back then. They also had to make it last through wars and natural disasters because it took so much money to make them and if they broke it could mean their heads. A king or leader could execute a mason who did his job poorly and cost him time and money. So castles and churches were made of the best stone, glass, metal and mortar that could be found. Our buildings would pale in comparison. We do things cheap, fast, and easy. Not to mention we can fix any flaw by jacking up a level, building or foundation, go in and fix the issue with relatively little cost.

The next question I had was, how many people speak two languages? I know a lot of people speak English because of tourism. To work in McDonald's there you need to speak two languages, I here. Did it seem like most people understood you or was it a lot of weird looks, and hand gestures?

Well, everyone kid, teenager, etc. that was in school still HAD to learn english bascially. There were a few kids that didn't take it any more the higher up in school they got, but they still remember some of it. It is most of the teenagers that know several languages because they take them in school. The only adults that I knew that spoke 2 languages were Turkish or from another country. I did get a lot of weird looks though when I tried to speak German though, I am very bad at it.

Also, I have decided that pictures are going to have to wait until I get my school laptop top here in a couple of weeks because I have no actual computer to download my pictures onto.

And, yesterday was my birthday!!!! (I had Harry Potter and Twilight cake!! I took a picture too!!)
