Iden paused to consider this. Why the hell was he seriously thinking about this? It SCREAMED of a trap. If it weren't for the fact that it would attract a lot of attention, he would have pulled the trigger already, or at least put some serious thought into it.
But then, against his better judgement, he crept out of his position and skulked along behind the woman. He was not letting himself be seen, though by this point he was doubting it really mattered.

*And in some ways, prehaps it WAS a trap. One thing was for sure - as soon as Iden was below the main deck, he was no longer technically on the ship, but neither was the woman. One thing she did NOT want was Corbin OR Dae listening in to this meeting - this was for her and IDen alone.
Light would shine up ahead, revealing a bar type setting. A familiar one. The Tavern Between Heaven and Hell. Seated at one of teh tables, the woman was seeking another smoke as she waited for Iden, two glasses of vitae on the table*
Excuse the change in location, its for both our sakes. I assure you I mean you no harm, and no tricks. Quite the opposite - I intend to lift one of those thats already been played on you. But first... there is a question I want to ask you. Will you allow me that, or would you rather use your ROMAN?

The sudden shift in scenery made his initial instinct SCREAM at him to drop a round, and haul a** outta there. Going from a boat in the Bermuda area to a tavern that was, at last check, halfway across the world?
But Iden kept his gun holstered.
Funny way of showing it. Last time someone said that in conjunction with cloak and dagger tricks, I wound up missing limbs.
He chose to remain standing, and left the glass untouched. Instead, his hand drifted to his belt, and removed a flask. He drank from IT.
Ask. But I won't guarantee an answer.

I know the memory of WHO is missing from your mind. But the memory of WHAT that person was should remain. Do you care if that person ever comes back? A simple question and once answered.. I will answer all of yours.
*She steppled her fingers in front of her, watching him for his answer*

He took half a step back, and regarded this woman with a raised brow.
I'll put it simply. If I didn't give a s**t, I would be happily doing my job back HOME, where I have full dispensation to blow the unholy hell out of whatever I damn well please, so long as its within the large label of "defending the homefront". So I'm gonna make a quick guess then. You're in cahoots with the imposter Bailey. Take my answer back to him and tell him to stop ******** around. The games are getting REALLY annoying.

Cahoots? I AM him. Well, the imposter Bailey anyway.
*The woman grinned and leant back*
At least I know you've not gone completely nuts like Dagoth. He's totally lost his drive, but Im sure I can do something about that in the long run. A warning, Iden... this is going to hurt.
*she stood up.. and lifted the Discipline she was using against him. This would now make three people who remembered her out of teh entire population of the world - Roen, Dagoth and Iden. Oh.. and Lhasa. But that was another story. The downside? Iden's memories would all come back in one huge hit like a sledgehammer... accompanied by the scars on his back returning with about as much pain as when she'd FIRST scarred them into him.*

You got REAL ugly for that performance.
His eyes widened when she mentioned pain, and then it hit. He staggered backwards, his back now putting him through mindnumbing pain.
While perhaps not quite so bloody as the initial scarring, the sudden return of his old wounds made his bodysuit a massive irritant. It didn't take long for him to require a wall to brace onto as he panted through gritted teeth.

*She was at his side in seconds, catching him, one arm under his, helping brace him up so his back didnt connect with anything, sympathy and sadnes sin her eyes*
Im so sorry Iden....
*There wasnt much else she could say. SHe;d gone away with those words, appropriate that she came back still apologising. In her other hand, she held the glass of vitae he hadnt touched, holding it out to him when he was ready*

With Roan at his side, he flopped forward into a full on crippleglomp. Yes, he was incredibly glad to see her. ********, she didn't need a mental connection to see that.
However, his position steadied remarkably quickly after that, and he tensed...
...to pull away into a spinning hook kick to the side of her head. The same side where she held a scar from a punch of his, from so long ago.
Connect or not, he stumbled back into the wall, and was forced to sit his a** down afterwards.

*A rather.. oragnic.. crunch followed his move, Roan not even TRYING to block the attack, simply taking it full force, seeing stars as she stumbled to one side away from him, before ruefully rubbing the pained spot*
Ow... that wasnt necessary. I missed you too.
*She sighed and slumped back into her seat, shaking her head to clear it*
You should know well enough I would NEVER have gone if I didnt feel I HAD to. I had no choice. One moment of perfect clarity was more than enough to scare me silly, especially about the safety of ALL of you. I told you a long time ago my family was everything. In this case... I protected you by going away, for all you may not believe that. And for all I achieved while gone... Im still sick, and the reason I left will STILL happen, in time. Im sorry Iden. I didnt want to hurt any of you... but better that than dead, right?

He chuckled, and shook his head slowly.
I'm not talking about you leaving, mate. You had reasons, I'm sure. I'm talkin' about your favored methods in coming back. Pick someone better to masquerade as, wouldya? Ice is on the ********' warpath because of you.
Hell if Iden looked up for much. His eyes were still shut, and he was still speaking through gritted teeth, despite his mirth. ******** if his back wasn't causing him REDICULOUS amounts of pain, at that.

Anyone else, and you lot woudl have started putting two and two togetehr much earlier, and back when I first left, I was too weak to maintain the deception if people started questioning it. Can I get you anything? I never meant you to feel this... once was enough. I never wanted to do damage like this to you again...
*It was strange, hearing that much compassion in her voice, but there was no doubt it was there. *
Iden? I missed you son...

Shaddup. You're makin' me get all choked up.
He shifted his position, and winced quite visibly as he did so. Resting his back on the wall didn't seem to agree with him too well.
I put myself through worse on a damn near monthly basis by now. Stop worrying about something so trivial.
He slowly pushed off the ground, and climbed onto unsteady feet. It was a show of remarkable resiliance, considering how long he'd been on his a** after the LAST time this had happened.
I could go for that drink about now...

Im glad you CAN get choked up. I dont think Dagoth is going to forgive me. Thank you for coming Iden...
