Suddenly a very tall figure appeared in front of them, coming down the steps at a rapid pace. It was Haradhel, going for her usual morning run. She was wearing her usual training clothes again, brown pants and a loose white blouse, and her long black hair was tied back in a thick braid.
She glanced curiously at Celebor as she passed him, but continued on until she reached Lin and Daeron. They were blocking the rest of the way down, so she stopped.
"Morning," she said with a friendly smile, squatting down a bit to be nearer their height. "What's up?"

"Good morning, Trainee Haradhel," Daeron replied, also smiling. "Lin wanted to climb the mountain, and Celebor wanted to come with. They needed someone to watch them, so here I am."

"Actually Celebor wanted to see the top of the mountain," Lin replied back smiling widely at Haradhel, "Me, I'm doing my usual climb, and what is Haradhel up to?"
Lin gave Haradhel her sunniest smile.

"Running," Haradhel laughed, ruffling Lin's hair affectionately. She turned to Daeron and smiled. "I know you said yesterday that you had planned on working this morning," she told him. "Why don't you go ahead and do what you had planned, and I can take care of these two for the day?"

"Are you sure?" Daeron asked dubiously. "I mean, don't you have your training to take care of?"
Not that he didn't appreciate the offer, she was right: he had planned to make preparations for his next trip this morning.

Lin giggled as she straigtened out her hair like a good little girl she was suppose to be.
"Oh would you?"

Haradhel laughed and poked Lin on the tip of her nose. "Of course I will!" she assured the child. "I think it will be fun, and my training isn't as rigorous as most other trainees', so it's not like I'm going to be missing anything."
She reached her hands down to Lin. "Come on," she grinned, "this is going to take you all day - or more. Let's go right up and do something."

Daeron opened his mouth to protest, but he knew it would be pointless. She may not be his aunt yet, but he had lost enough arguments with her already. Not to mention, if she wanted to be back on top of the mountain, there was nothing he could say that would get her to wait.
"Then I'll see you all later," he nodded, and started back down the mountainside.

"Actually even when I had all day I never managed to get up," Lin replied but she reached out for Haradhel to be picked up anyways.
Besides who was she to complain since she didn't even have to make the suggestion at all? And if Haradhel was okay with it then it should be doublely okay.

"Really?" Haradhel asked in mock horror. "How terrible! But I think you're very brave and very strong for trying to climb up on your own."
They reached Celebor quickly, and she took his hand to help him along as well.
"Have either of you been up there before?" she asked them brightly.

Celebor shook his head. "Not me," he told her. "This is the first time I ever been here. Mommy said a long time ago that we would come, but we never did til just a few days ago."
He was glad they had come, though he was rather disappointed by his Uncle Ruel.

"I have, once. Elrohir took me up," Lin smiled, "But after that no one else would take me up."
She giggled, since to an extent Lin probably knew Elrohir wasn't fully thinking when he took her up that one time.

"Elrohir?" Haradhel repeated, surprised. "Interesting ... he must not have been thinking. Really, I shouldn't be taking you up here, either, and he's usually a stickler for the rules."
She looked thoughtful for a moment, then asked, "How did you manage it?"

"I don't know really... I saw him coming back and he looked like he had been travelling," Lin explained, "And I told him I was looking for Earendil and that I wanted to find Earendil. Well... Earendil was... I don't think he was smaller, but he wasn't as old as he is now. So he was up training here and I knew that, and he knew that too. So he took me to Earendil."

"Oh," Haradhel giggled. "I understand now. Yes, when he's tired from traveling, you could probably get him to do just about anything. It's like he's asleep, and running purely on outward signals, and can't make any decisions for himself. The best part about it, though, is that after he's rested he doesn't remember anything of it."
