Space Marines are a decent and versatile army that can switch from ranged combat to hand-to-hand combat on the fly. Unlike armies like the Eldar, Orcs, Tyranids they are a high point cost but the extra points are easily worth it.
the problem is Eldar tend to wipe them out before they can get close enough to assualt. ands if they do get that close, the Wraithlords and striking scorps handle them with ease.
I guess that is true but I'm not very good at making a very balanced army to handle those kind of situations.
Yar I build ludicrously unbalanced armies and that is the only reason why they work.... and my goddamn stupid luck ^^
ahh yes, the dice of fate....

s'not my fault. I mean I'll use anyones dice and they can use mine.
Fine, the Irony Gods.

If you want to build an army able to take out Eldar... BAM Dark Angel Deathwing. Although expensive money wise, all those nice Terminators as troop choices and dreadnaughts stomping around making the Eldar Weapons puny and insignificant. Alternativly you could be Ravenwing, get in much faster then other Space Marines and run them over or slice them up.

One of my favorite match-ups is Ravenwing Vs. SH Eldar... two vehicle armies slamming head to head...then we throw in "Da kult of Speed" from the Orks for some good ol' destruction derby.... for even more fun Steel Legion Mechanized Army.

unfortunately, 3 warwalkers with 2 starcannons each can kill TONS of terminators. Starcannon : Strenth 6, AP 2, range 36 Inches, 3 shots per turn. toss in some prism cannons and your dreadnogughts/landraiders are also toast.

Who the hell uses Warwalkers nowadays..... After playing for years I've haven't seen a WarWalker in a LONG time. And I'm aware of the starcannon but I'm also aware of it's weakness...to eleminate the cannon you eliminate the squad, Landspeeders with heavy flamers are a sure fire trick to take down most if not all of the eldar in the squad accompaning the cannon. Usually the Eldar player are too buzy defending from the squads of terminators Deep striking in the middle of them to worry about land speeders hovering down upon them.

Also the Fire-Prisim is over-ratted... much like the Hammer-head. Both of their BS are horrible so in a one on one match they both shoot but can never damage or even hit the other one. And if the Fire Prism has problems taking down a Hammerhead with only 12 armor on front... what about the Land Raider with 14 on all sides. Best weapon vs. them is Railgun, Str.10, AP.1, 72" range.

remember the point of 40k is not knowing how to deal with one situation but how to deal with multiple. One squad can't fight vs. everything...so it's either the terminators or the Landspeeders. Not too mention if those Terminators get into close combat the Eldar are ******** thanks to Powerfists and high Str. Eldar are NOT close ranged people. So Blood Angels would chew them up and spit them out if their assault marines get into close combat (and no matter WHAT you say you cannot stop ALL of the assault marines of a Bood Angel army.... I HATE fighting blood angels with Tau.. since Tau are the weakest in close combat and Blood Angels are masters at it.)

I usually have half my troops as storm guardians. and at any rate, my vyper(s) can engage your land speeders hea to had and have the advantge. AND LANDSPEEDERS CANT HAVE HEAVY FLAMERS!!!! CHECK YOU CODEX!! only heavy bolteers and mulit-meltas.

Your tactots are flawed if you believe the Prism Cannon is over-rated. All you have to do to have more hits with it is to have a Farseer with Guide nearby. Easy enough. And fine, If your precious Land Raiders don't die from the Prism Cannon then some fire from a bunch of Brightlances should do it. Str 8 Ap 2 range 60" and any armor over 12 counts as 12.
