Aria blinked, "You kinda just clamber onto a pontoon and try to grab part of the cover netting. after that you haul yourself onto the deck." Aria demonstrated, making her way onto the deck in seconds, "It's a bit tough the first time, but you look like you can handle it."

Irwin hurriedly followed Tanessa. He might not know the situation, but he'd try to find out. "Wh-what exactly did you guys do?!"

Irwin looked at her with a gaze that held power in it, "I command the wind and the ice." He spread out his arms to indicate their environment, "Every flake of snow is subject to my will, as is the wind that blows them. I don't know why your birth would warrant you to be hunted, but if I might aid you... Zephiros Rime. He turned to face the forest as he said the spell aloud. A piercing gale swept through the forest their persuers were still heading through, reinforced by the freezing themperature, the gale would slow progress and make it dangerous to chase the magi.

"That is all I can do to slow their progress, but if they continue their chase, they will most likely suffer from frostbite. A wind in freezing temperatures can be very dangerous, if not deadly."

Tanessa straightened, first trying to see where Cedric was, but then searching the woods of her pursuers. Her eyes were frosty with anger.

"You don't know... you don't know? Your magic won't stop them. They have Mindbreakers. They'll - ah... attack your mind...."

With this, Tanessa fell to her knees, eyes clenched shut, wrestling with the psychic attack of a Mindbreaker.

Mindbreakers were not magical beings. Nor could they control magic. Some magicians may possibly be able to wrestle and win in a battle of minds over a Mindbreaker - but not elementalists. It would be Seers and the sort of magus Cedric was. He, once older and trained in magic, would fear no threat from Mindbreakers. This was why he would be one of the most powerful of magi.

Mindbreakers attacked your mind, telepathically. It was indeed a sort of magic, but they were vulnerable in the fact that they could be completely bound to their masters by a simple psychic spell. Mindbreakers were not able to turncoat or disobey orders. This is why they were not considered magi - or at least why they didn't warrant enough of a threat to kill.

Besides, they were far too powerful for regular spellcasters. Those whose prowess focused on the elements, or craftsmagic, but not telepathy, were the most vulnerable.

And while neither of the two magi who were running knew it, there were three Mindbreakers chasing them. To kill destroy a Mindbreaker, you must kill their bodies, before they kill your mind.

And the worst part is, while trying to kill them you must struggle against their telepathic assault, and at any time they may take control of your body, rendering your attack against them harmless.

Their greatest strength was that magi could not attack in return without knowing who to attack.

Tanessa was on her hands and knees now, crying in pain. "Kill... the boy," she said, though it was not her own voice. "Kill the prodigy."

Cedric was about twenty yards away, just barely within sight now. He was stopped and staring back at Tanessa. Eyes unreadable. Thoughts unknowable.

((Not everybody has posted. I suppose it can be getting dark, but I think most of the RPs will be pretty much stuck until the holidays are over. Not me though... I have no life. >_<))

Jaeto's eyes stared up at the cieling for who-knows how long. He'd slept for maybe an hour, but since then he'd been wide awake. Such a hectic journey he and Cal had been through and you'd think he'd at least be able to sleep, but no. He glanced of at the princess who, even in sleep, looked graceful and elogant. Jaeto sighed and got out of bed and walked to the window, leaning against the frame and peering out over the street below. He hoped his friend would get here soon because he had no plans as to what to do with the princess from this point on.
