Niphz Lol 'elfy, you've obviously never seen a MacBook before.. On the back of mine, it has little buttons which help you open it up in case you want to install extra RAM or HD space. You don't even really have to get your hands messy. As for the OS itself, it has a shitload of customisable features which windows can't lay a finger on, such as spaces (mac's virtual desktop thing, it lets you organise applications/documents etc into up to 16 different virtual spaces) or voice command. Also there are developer tools built in to help programmers do the stuff they want, including sample coding and help packages and everything. Again not something you'd see on windows. So in fact, macs are far more customisable than windows PCs. It is true that far more people use windows, but this is really due to the fact that a large proportion of computers are owned by businesses - and windows with its dominant MS Office suite has work-related stuff pretty much covered. But for personal use, now that I've tried both, mac is definitely the way to go. Pfft, adding extra RAM or HD space is nothing for most PC users. The type of customisation I've seen with PCs involves hardcore modications like altering or replacing the motherboard, swapping the CPU, adding two or three extra graphics cards, and installing ridiculous cooling systems and fans. Admittedly notebooks don't go that far and I guess in terms of laptops macbooks are probably superior to notebooks. But I'm comparing normal macs with PCs. If you've seen a PowerMac before you'll probably know that they're much harder to customise. As for all the extra add-ons that MacOS has, I have a feeling that Windows 7 will include all of them and possibly more. And as Snow mentioned, there's a lot of software out there that is incompatible with MacOS. @Charlie: Ah yes Linux is probably even more customisable than Windows or MacOS, but as you said it's got a steep learning curve so it's proably no suited for all PC users.

I've had a semi enlightening conversation after dinner today making me wonder what the heck I'm doing and what am I basing my decisions upon? I feel like I'm holding myself back. There's a big part of me that doesn't want to rock the boat, but there's the other part of me says that if i don't rock the boat then the party will never begin. (I wonder if this is part of growing up. My, what a difficult process.)

That's growing up for you, yalie-chan. You question everything you are and everyone and everything around you. And basically, you never quite get the answers you want or are looking for.

I don't think its even just a part of growing up, I think it's just a part of life, and exploring who you are and who you want to be and all the changes you realize you can be make.

Hi Snow! I'm not sure I actually know you because I'm fairly new, but hello anyway.
@yalie: Life is an eternal struggle between two balances. Without both parts parts constantly warring with each other, you'll find yourself screwed over almost immediately. (Call it a system of checks and balances?)
That probably could have been phrased more elegantly. mad
@b&b: You remember the LJcomm on which we first met? Well, I've picked up on writing the fic you first agreed to beta for me (a full 14 months ago) again! Still care to beta or shall I find another?
