Jaden sighed. It was an expression that had become reflex to him over the years. He truly had no true distain for the fact that Sibyls own father had tried to mate with her; The fact that he felt nothing truly to it was frightening. "There is logic behind what he does." he finally said. "I've seen people in his position do the same thing many times. I suppose that if I had remained with my pack I would have been paired with my own sister, or more likely my brother would have been paired with her. Only after leaving did I discover what love was and how important that emotion is to those that need children." He sighed again, though this time was in recollection of another tale in more recent years than the last story he had dredged up. "But there is always pain in love regardless of what ties connect you."

"Of course. He wants to keep our pack purely blooded. He despises lycans and does not house or defend them in his territory, in fact, quite the opposite happens to lycans that are unfortunate enough to cross paths with him. My father simply wants what is best for the pack and by breeding with the strongest within the pack it assures that our offspring will be strong as well. I realize the logic but something in me felt ... against mating with him. I didn't want to disobey him but mating with him was something I found I wasn't able to do."
She didn't seem to disdain her father for having tried to mate with her either because she looked at it from the logical stand point. Of course, she was young and had yet to really wrap her mind around ulterior motives perhaps playing a part. Her sister had been there when her father had made the proposition and Olathe had mentioned to Sibyl that she resembled her mother more than Olathe did, in human and wolven form. Of course, Sibyl didn't remember what her mother looked like but she took her sister's word for it and had often asked her what their mother had been like.
"I do not like pain, I prefer to avoid it if it is possible but to have a painless life is akin to having learnt nothing so I suppose there must be a balance. However, love is something I wish to remain ignorant of. It sounds much too complicated and it can be twisted and contorted many ways and I simply do not find the idea of falling in love to be ... appealing. I mean falling, since when is that appealing? Falling in love can't be any more appealing than falling itself I figure."

"Actually it feels like a throwing knife into your left shoulderblade." Jaden said with a great deal of knowledge on the subject. "Or something closely akin to it. That's how I feel when I'm struck with it at least." The description was a little too specific. "Aside from that when the time comes you won't be able to help falling in love. That is a fact as I have seen in my long years."

"We will see ... love is ... more human than wolven so perhaps it will not afflict me. Instinct to reproduce is there but I've hidden when that afflicts me so perhaps I will be the first to prove your fact wrong. However, the odds seem to be vastly against me and I do not look forward to being helpless to falling in love ..." She actually growled at the thought though she was still in her human form.
She shrugged and then smiled more to herself than anyone and looked up with a puzzled expression when Jaden was able to describe exactly what it felt like when he felt the pain of love. Sibyl wasn't sure if that meant that one of the women he'd loved had thrown something there or if that was just what it felt like and he actually got a pain. Some said their stomachs hurt or "got butterflies" though she never understood how someone could feel butterflies flying in their stomach since by the time they were digested the butterflies were dead.

"Your species is a mystery to me." Jaden said, patting Sibyl on the head in a reflex from his time as a child. "I don't recall ever encountering any before you... But if there are even shred of humanity you will not be able to stop the feeling from coming upon you through your life. I'm sure that you will understand it in time."

"Most of us tend to keep to ourselves but I am surprised you have never met one of them for they've existed for millenia. The elders say at first we were nothing more than wolves that survived on pure instinct but also with spirits and spirit guides that guided us through a many great trials. They say the earth flooded and that was when our spirits were granted the ability to shapeshift for the shamans favoured our survival and taught us how to craft great boats and make rope which we used to tie our boats to the trees so that we didn't drift away. Of course, there are more details to it than that but that is a long tale summed up in a few sentences."
Sibyl shook her head and frowned, her fur would have bristled as well if she were in her wolven form. "I certainly hope not! Love makes us foolish and many of us pay for such foolishness in the end. I wish to have no part in it and simply be left in peace and I hope that my wish will be respected and that I'll be able to fend off that feeling."
She stood up and stretched lazily and decided that she was going to head to the docks for a swim. The towel was still draped over her shoulder so she wasn't going to give up swimming a second time. "I'll see you around. I'm going to go for my swim now and since I don't have my apartment here anymore since I vacated it, I'm going to have to go to my other one that I'm still renting. It's out in the city so if you can't find me in the park or where ever else try there."

Jaden smiled and watched her leave. The slight melencholy of his normal character returned as he sat down on his couch before laying down. He looked at the ceiling and thought about what he was going to have to do. He really didn't want to risk letting Soulvar out again, that small act might lead to more needless slaughter. That was not something that needed to be done.

Duke walked up to the door and knocked as he dug through the pockets of Razu's bag.

"I would assume that you coming back into my domain means that you are dragging the corpse of Razu behind you and are soon going to reveal him to me in some dramatic manner." Jaden said without moving at all from his position on the couch. "I mean, why else would you come back here?"

Duke opened the door and tossed the bag he was carrying to Jaden after he pulled out what he was looking for,"This was his. There's no sign of his body anywhere. I can not imagine that the bag would survive and not the body. But by the time I got there and searched properly the police had already been there."
Duke paused then sighed,"I'm a Lycan just like you or Razu." He paused before adding,"He left a message for you..."

"I frequently have many people leave messages with me before they die." Jaden said, sniffing the bag to pick up Razu's scent. "The most common one being 'I'll see you in Hell'. I really do dislike hearing things over and over again. So what is it?"

"He wants to know if you are 'truely fit to lead a pack of Lycans. To have a murderous personality inside you is dangerous and you nearly killed Sibyl with this and you've killed many innocents on a whim.' Mostly he wanted to know if this had happened before and why you didn't look for a suitible replacement so it didn't happen again. He wanted to hear your answer for himself but...he left me to hear it instead." Duke eyes watched Jaden was the wolf sniffed the bag. Duke's nose was currently filled with Razu's scent. He didn't want to let go of it or forget it and he was afraid that within time he would forget it.

Jaden finally set the bad down but made no other move than that. "In the scope of my understanding you are not old enough to realize why I am what I am. Also within that scope Razu isn't of that age either. So if he does wish to be one of my critics from beyond the grave then he will be stuck only of his interpritations of me and no answers." he said grimly.

Duke smiled that said there was secrets behind every door,"Oh you'll never know with us, Lycans, how old we really are. Look at yourself. You don't look over the age of 20 maybe even younger. I'm an asian. We tend to look under then what really are even as a human...you think thats not going to traval along as well as being an 'immortal'?" Duke allowed himself to be diverted from the confrontation. He hadn't really wanted to but it was Razu's wish for it to be said.
Duke's eyes raised to the ceiling,"We must rescue Steffon! Razu was unable to finish his mission because of you. STEFFON IS STILL DOWN THERE SUFFERING!" He put empasis on the last sentence as he continued to watch Jaden's reaction.

There was a clatter of the couch flipping over as Jaden snapped over to the kitchen and grabbed Duke by the throat, lifting him off of the ground with his left arm alone. This was a common technique he used (as Ceon could attest to personally) but there was something fundamentally different about this time, it was clear that only some deeply rooted sense of self control kept him from decapitating the other Lycan by crushing his fingers through his throat. "Don't you dare try and blame me for such things!" he snarled, his red eyes flaring with a deep and insane anger and strength, this was the only thing capable of truly holding back a monster. "Do you think that I willingly let out that creature? Do you know how close there was to being no black door at all? No barrier that keeps it at bay and I would have been swallowed up long ago with god only knows how many other entities." He shook the other male like a rag doll, the already incredible strength being fueled by centuries of pain and anger.
