Okay...I can do this![Nightpaw thought confidently.]Trick him....[She looked around for another place to attack, one that might be a little less predictable.]I got it![She thought with satisfaction as she started to gain speed. She was ready to pounce. But then, she dropped and slid underneath him, as she went she hit his belly with her [they are sheathed] paws. When she slid out the other side she asked curiously.]"How was that?"

 (( Whoa! Really? neutral Did she at least take her hunting and show her the borders? : o ))
[Fathom blinked, surprised. He nodded, eyes shining.]
"Yes, that was very good," he said proudly. "I thought you were going to pounce. Well anyway, you're quick on your feet, and you have good reflexes. That's very good."
[He blinked, slightly dismayed. He sat down on his haunches.]
"Moonflower didn't teach you how to fight, did she?" he asked with a troubled face.

"Um...no."[She said in embarrassment.]"We only went hunting before she left...so I only know how to hunt, pretty much."[He looked sad. She thought it was her fault.]Maybe it's because I haven't learned to fight before now... "I kind of made up all of that..."

Willowheart&Foxfur
[Willowheart cast one more look at her best friend, her green eyes full of emotion, before padding away into the territory, making sure to steer clear of Fathom training his apprentice]
[Foxfur stared after Willowheart. Where's she going..? Turning his head, he made sure no one was watching her. He had no clue what she was doing, but he wasn't going to let anyone catch her]

[Fathom tilted his head, blinking amusedly.]
"Well now," he said cheerfully, "that move is pretty impressive if you've never had any previous training!"
[Face brightening, he nodded.]
"Alright then, I'm going to come at you. Try to block me or dodge me, and I'll give you pointers as we move along."
[He paced around her, eyes blank and emotionless.]
"You must clear your face and eyes of any emotion or thought so that your opponent cannot guess your next move," he said.
[Suddenly, he sprang out towards her, paw raised, ready to come down and slam into her.]

[Nightpaw squealed in fear as she moved quickly out of the way]"Wow, I definatly wasn't expecting that..."[she mewed uncertantly.]

[Fathom laughed, then sat down, swishing his tail.]
"It's like a real battle," he explained, "you never know what's coming. To counter my attack, you could have quickly slid under me raking your claws on my belly. In a real battle anyway. The only thing about that move is that your opponent can slam down on you while you're under them...
But anyway, you should use your small size to an advantage. Know your strengths and weaknesses, and use them accordingly."
[He stood, beginning to pace again. Then he once again ran at her, but at the last minute dove in the opposite direction, paw outstretched and ready to trip her in one giant sweep.]

[As soon as she saw him dive in the other direction she jumped over him, nipped his tail, and pushed his legs out from underneath him.]"How was that?"[she asked. She was exausted from the effort of pushing his legs out from underneath him.]

[Fathom leaned forward on his outstretched paws, landing on the two front ones, and swerved around. She had tripped his back legs, but the swerve brought him back on his feet. He nodded.]
"Very well done," he said approvingly, "but don't tire yourself out at the start of the battle. You need to keep up your strength until you drive the other cat away. Thankfully, NightClan cats are born with high endurance and stamina because of the harsh swamps we tame...but for now, I think our training is over. Let us train every day to build up your strength.
That is all. If you wish to go hunting later, just tell me."
[He nodded at her, eyes shining proudly.]
"You did very well," he added.
[He began to pad home to check on things. He looked back at her, nodded, then padded away.]

Foxfur&Willowheart
[Foxfur chased after Willowheart, knowing she hadn't gotten far]
"Willowheart, come back to camp. Now"
[Willowheart stared at him in surprise, then dropped her eyes and padded back towards the camp, nearly running into Fathom on the way]
"Hello Fathom" she said polietly.
[Foxfur flicked his ears and padded next to her, nodding to his leader]

(( Willowheart and Foxfur used to be mates, rite? : D ))
[Fathom blinked, nodding. He stared at Willowheart, flicking his gaze to Foxfur every so often.]
"...Is something the matter?" he asked hesitantly.
[He sensed something was off. He continued shifting his gaze uneasily as he padded with them back to camp.
What was Willowheart doing out of camp that made Foxfur run to her and bring her back...? he wondered.]

[Willowheart flicked her ears uncomfortably]
"Everything's fine!"
[She grinned, and her eyes lit up]
[Foxfur rolled his eyes]
"She-cats have such weird mood swings!"
[He was playing along with her]
[Willowheart snorted]
"All I wanted to do was go hunting, then, Father over here," She prodded him with her tail, "felt the need to come and rescue me from the big, bad frogs"
[Foxfur half-smiled]
"I'm not your father, I'm just trying to make sure you don't go doing anything you're not supposed to"
"Oh? Like what? Make sure I don't catch more prey than you? Opps. Too late"
[She smirked and ran off back to camp]
((Nope! Just best friends, even tho Foxfur has lusted after her occasionally, he didn't do anything more than that))

[Fathom watched them, sligthly worried. Then he sighed, shrugging. Oh well. I'll let them work whatever it is out.
He padded to the fresh kill pile and grabbed a frog. He didn't particularly like frogs, but his clan needed the strong meat more than he did. He sighed and bit into its tough skin.]

Foxfur
[He sighed as he watched his best friend run back to camp, knowing she was hiding something. He also knew that Fathom suspected something was up. You know about as much as I do, he thought sadly.

[Nightpaw walked back into the camp. She was tired and hungry. She sighed as she looked at the frogs. She frowned.]Oh well...[She thought as she picked one up and started to eat it. When she was done she went to the apprentices den, curled up, and fell asleep.]
