Successful with their mission to reunite mother and child, Maia glanced between the two men and took off in the direction of the ice cream stand. "I'll be back in a moment," She assured them over her shoulder. Dari might have wanted to watch his shape, figure, whatever, but he certainly deserved an ice cream. He'd gotten made up to come to the mall with them, and then he'd given his milkshake away.
She ordered a chocolate shake once she reached the ice cream stand, taking another lick of hers. Bleh. The one bad thing about ice cream; it melted. She paid, waited for it to be mixed and hurried back to the agents. "Here," She offered it to Dari.
"Now we've all got one."

Toby smiled approvingly and Dari looked surprised.
"Oh, you really didn't have to," he said. Food had little to no effect on him besides altering his internal pressure slightly. Too much and he'd be enormous in any sense of the word. He preferred his size as it was, and it had taken so much work to achieve! Every once in a while, though, a little but didn't hurt. He couldn't taste or smell, but he could feel. Some things were pleasant for his other senses.
Toby meanwhile ate the rounded top off of his cone and sighed.
"Well. Good work, team." He was clearly teasing. His eyebrows rose and fell.

"I know I didn't have to," Maia assured Dari. "I wanted to. And if I hadn't, I'm sure Toby would've." Friends didn't leave someone out when it came to ice cream. "Do you want to sit down and finish our ice creams?" She asked. "Or head towards the computer store?"
"Do you think we'll have time to play our new game tonight?"

Well, she was right at least. Toby would have.
"We can't bring them into the store," Toby replied, "so we might as well sit down out here. It's just down that arm." He pointed down another hallway. Each arm had a big store at the end, that was how these things worked. At least he thought it was down that one. "Yeah, I don't see why not. We don't have to be in bed at a certain time or anything. Tomorrow's a day off too." Unfortunately it would be errands-day because today hadn't been.
Dari might have responded did he not have a straw in his mouth, sucking down the milkshake in a way that would probably give the average human being a headache. It was almost cute to see him hunched like that. He looked rather young. His eyes simply flickered between the two others behind his glasses.

"Right, because today's a weekend day and you have weekends off," Maia recalled. "Next weekend do you think we could go swimming?" she asked hopefully. "At the lake." The HQ pool was nice, but it wasn't the same as being out in the sunshine.
"What are we doing tomorrow?" she asked curiously. "Maybe we could bake something?"
Dari was so cute! And it seemed he really did appreciate the ice cream, despite his protests.

"Sure, I don't see why not," Toby agreed with a shrug. "We could probably even make it today, if you wanted." But he imagined she was too excited about the prospect of a new computer to agree. Maybe if they couldn't find one. "I have a few errands to run," he continued, "but I'm sure we could find the time to bake something. You have to decide what you want, though." Or they could buy a mix, but that always felt a little like cheating.

"Next weekend," she insisted. They'd already been at the mall a long time and The guys we're probably more tired--at least Toby was probably more tired than he wanted to admit. Dari didn't seem to require sleep.
"What errands? Can I help?" She asked. She'd never gone on errands before. "Cupcakes?" She suggested. "We could share them when we go back to HQ on Monday."

Toby nodded. Next weekend it was, then. It was sort of nice to have plans that didn't involve complete strangers or alcohol. Really sometimes it was nice to just sit back and relax.
"Boring stuff. Groceries. We could do cupcakes, sure. What flavor?"
Dari was still watching, taking appropriate breaks to 'breathe' as a human might. His senses were delighted, taste and temperature aside.
"There are quite a few people who would expect one if their colleagues had them," Dari warned.
Toby nodded. "It might be best to pick one department this time. We could easily make fifty cupcakes."

Maia didn't seem to think grocery shopping sounded boring at all. She'd never gone. "Can I go with you?" She asked. "We could decide on a flavor there. Hm. Maybe research? I want Lori to get one. And you guys have to have one. We could give Annie one when she gets off work, then they can't claim favortism." She pondered this a moment. "Fiftys good. I'm sure cat sidhes can't have too much sugar so I'll take Seamus a can of tuna."
She glanced at Dari. "See, I knew you'd like ice cream."

Toby looked confused for a moment. Who in the world would want to accompany someone else grocery shopping? It was a task some people avoided until there was nothing left in the house to eat. Then it hit him. He'd bed Maia had never gone grocery shopping, at least not since she was a young child with her mother.
"Uh. Sure. Yeah, if you want to." He was well-equipped enough in the kitchen that he didn't think it'd be hard to pick up a few extra ingredients and have what they needed for cupcakes. "We can bring them to Research if you want."
Dari smiled at Maia's insistence and nodded. "Yes, thank you."

Maia smiled, flattening her ice cream to the cone and taking a bite. She swallowed before speaking."We can give other departments cupcakes another time," she assured him. The department she knew best was research, since her classes were there and she'd spent the majority of her free time while at HQ with Seamus or swimming.
"What do we need to get?" She asked.

Toby nodded. Sure. It reminded him of way-back-when when the class got to have a little party when it was a student's birthday. It was one of the most exciting things for a grade-school kid aside from the eventual development of movies in VHS tapes. That had been a while after Toby's heyday, though.
"That depends on what we want to make. Flavoring. Probably butter and milk, I'll have to check tonight." Toby finished off his cone and failed to catch a drip with his tongue before it slid down his chin. He caught the drip in his hand and licked his chin clean. Dari was already finished, and rose to throw away his cup before coming back.

"What were you going to get?" Maia clarified. "I'll pay for the cupcake stuff. Maybe get some honey and tuna, some things." She remembered honey had been an ingredient for the bread her mother had made, but not much else. And honey was good on its own, anyway. Sweet!
It took another few bites until she was finished with her icecream, standing up. "Alright, let's go look. I might save till next time I get money, though. I don't think I'd be able to use it much yet." Not for a while, anyway.

Toby raised his brows at Maia.
"I... need to get food? For... the house?" He laughed slightly. He didn't really make the list until just before leaving, and even then sometimes it only contained a few necessities and the rest was a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants sort of ordeal. He only ever had to feed himself, so it would be good to have Maia come along and see what she liked. At the very least they could start her on trying things. The cookie aisle was going to be a b*****d.
"That's all up to you," Dari said in relation to Maia potentially waiting before getting a laptop. Toby nodded as he stood.
"It'll be good to get an idea, at least," the werewolf said with a nod, "Come on."

Ah, so Toby hadn't planned ahead. "I figured that bit," she said. Groceries implied food, after all. "Do you think we can get some things I can make? Or...things at least you can show me how to make?" she asked with interest. Simple things, she hoped; she wanted to learn!
She reached for Toby's hand, nodding in Dari's direction. "You still have to help me pick out a good one," she said.
