Viper the Femme

PostPosted: Tue Oct 06, 2009 8:57 pm

Viper was fairly surprised. She had never envisioned the Supreme Imperator as the kind of man to be so protective over his family... Or the kind of man to spend time trying to court a female. It had always seemed more likely to her that he would just abduct any woman he wanted for his own personal pleasure harem.

"I'm afraid not, Remus. Forgive me, but I don't keep very up to date with what goes on behind the scenes in the Battledome. After all, some of us have a war to fight, you know," She replied, crossing her arms and placing them on the edge of the table. "So, I'll ask again: Who is it?"

Remus sat back and took a drink of his beer, the red in his face had disappeared at this point.

"Lt. Kaokie Jayim." Remus replied with a small giggly undertone in his voice, though it was hard to notice.

Vii Star

Aged Vampire

Peering through the round hole in the kitchen door Vii peeked out to see a few patrons engaged in conversation, but no one immediately threatening or seeking her attention.
No one had posted any bounties, Vii sighed when she glanced at the barren board.
The bottle she had been drinking was coagulated and utterly disgusting but Vii didn't think she had another one readily available. I can't believe we went through the whole case in less than.. Her thoughts trailed as the hungry vampire gained considerable control over her brain functions.
Eying the stairs, she wondered if she dare bother Regal, or if she would still be too angry for saving her damn life. Suddenly the need to see the little human outweighed her restraint and she ascended the stairs to her room, letting herself in without bothering to knock. Regal was perched on her bed reading a worn manuscript.

Defiantly, Regal patted the spot on the bed next to her and continued reading, while tilting her head to the side, sure of why her master had come here. It was true, she was sulking. Her one and only secret desire was almost granted and she couldn't help but appear at least mildly disappointed. The taste of power, that brush with something being unleashed within her, it was like a whole other world that she could almost touch.
Magic should be effortless, like thinking or breathing, and once you understand where its source truly begins then it will unlock its secrets unto you. Her eyes scanned the words on the page and then repeated over in her acute mind.

Emma hardly noticed that she had entered the Tavern, seeing as her magic took matters into its own hands and opened the door before she walked into it. The enchantress was currently preoccupied by a sheaf of paper in her hands that she scribbled madly upon with a blue-gray quill.

Captain Drennis sat solemnly at the bar, in an uncharacteristically quiet state. It used to be so rare that he would shut up for just a moment. He supposed... perhaps after his promotion he grew up a little bit. One might hope. Or at least Lt. Jayim would hope. That was another thing. Kaok hated Drennis even more now that he was her superior. Drennis had always seen her as an inspiration. He had fears about not fitting into the human world, of not fitting in with his own people. But... if a Faun could do it, then he definitely could.

Emma looked up from her papers, noticing the stranger at the bar. Rather than introduce herself immediately, she kept her distance to observe him better. Her Sight flared into life as she looked him up and down, searching his aura for any information she could find.

Haosin glanced at Lady Emma. He'd been in the audience of a few of her fights and remembered the powerful magic she was capable of. The superstitious man held an immediate respect for her. When he'd been taken in by the Fauns, he had stayed with a high priest of the Cloud Gods. They too had done similar things. He sincerely wished to be able to do them, but like Lt. Jayim, possessed no spark of magical ability. All he had to his merit was his quick feet and what strength he could muster.

Drennis spoke a greeting, though instinctively in the Faun tongue he was raised speaking. It sounded somewhat like 'Haystack.'

Emma was, unfortunately, completely unfamiliar with the Faun tongue, but she could hazard a guess at what he was trying to say. The papers vanished from her hands, back to her desk in her bedroom at home. Once her hands were free, she curtsied. "Hello."

Her Sight told her of his lack of magic, but she could still sense...other things.

He realized seconds later what he's said and seemed deeply embarrassed at this.

"My apologies." Drennis offered his hand for a handshake, even if he didn't seem to know what it meant. "Hello. I'm Captain Haosin Drennis."

"No need to apologize." She took the offered hand, shaking it firmly.

"Lady Emma of Bainbridge, at your service, Captain. I don't believe we've met before."

"I don't believe so, no." Haosin smiled, pleased at least that he didn't seem to offend her.

"I've seen you fight in the arena, though. I must admit that I'm jealous."

"Of what?" She asked, head cocked to one side. The enchantress had never seen him fight, and he temporarily had the advantage of her.

"Of your abilities," The Captain said, nodding as he did. "If I could do the spells and enchantments that you do."

"And that blade of yours! It seems that not only Lt. Jayim still uses the sword. I can do little aside from hand-to-hand and bludgeoning my opponents with my bat, here."

"They come with a price, let me tell you." She said softly, almost to herself. Turning back to the Captain, her delicately pointed ears perked up. "Lt. Jayim? You know her?"
