"That's a shame," Cody smiled at Danny, then gestured to Dari. "Have you heard him sing?" He asked. "He's brilliant, but he won't admit it! So modest."
Downtown was great, unless you were attacked by several men and beaten with a crowbar. Fortunately, that sort of thing hadn't happened again! "It's really nice. I'm not much for the clubs, but Dari liked them."

"Who, him?" Danny asked, then grabbed up at Dari, "No, I haven't. We've never had the occasion. Now that I live here...?"
"I'm no singer," Dari defended.
Danny tutted again. "I somehow doubt that if your fiance says otherwise. He's biased, but he's got you on the hook now. He doesn't have to be nice."

"He's always saying that!" Cody pointed out with a grin. "He was singing in the car once and I was like "Babe, you're wonderful" and he disagreed! I don't think he can hear how great he is." He tsked.

"How long have you been hearing?" Danny asked Dari, then turned to Cody, "He hasn't been hearing long. Maybe he hasn't learned. It's all the better for me, though. I don't need any more competition."
Dari jogged forward a few steps to grab the door for his companions. "Here we are," he said. The inside of the place was relatively small, only holding perhaps forty people, but was very well-lit and painted, and a connected bar lived on the other side of the door.
"Thank you!" Danny chimed and went inside to the host.
"How many?" the host asked.
"Three, please." Danny held up three fingers. The host smiled and began to pull menus.

"Well, ever since he met me he's had ears," Cody offered. He was grinning. He entered the restaurant and looked around. This place was practically paradise. They'd have to invite Kevin here, someday when the kid decided he wasn't tired of pizza. If that ever happened. Apparently it'd been all the kelpie would eat for months.
"What would you like?" He asked, looking to Danny.

"Oh, you fell for the vanilla version, did you?" Danny teased. He shook his head then. "Nothing for me. Water, maybe." As much as he'd like to eat, it wasn't worth the agony. For all it smelled nice and felt nice and tasted nice, no. Maybe some day, when it didn't hurt as much, or when he was willing to take a break and bring it all back up.
They were seated, and barely had time to open their menus before the grinning server approached to greet them and ask what they wanted to drink while he poured glasses of ice water.
"I'll take an unsweetened iced tea, if I could, please," Dari said.
"Oh, water is fine for me," Danny said.

Cody stared. Nothing? Really? They were in the best pizza place in town and--nothing. Maybe the guy had just eaten. Or maybe he just didn't like pizza. But why hadn't he said so? They could've gone somewhere else.
"You sure?" He asked. It was rude to eat in front of others. "Water's good," he added, directing that at the water.

"Alright, I'll get that right out for you," the server said with a grin, and off he went.
"Oh, don't worry about me. I'm sure the pizza's great here but it'd make me too sick to be worth it," Danny said. Pizza had become a big thing after he'd already been sired. Scents and warmth were all he had to go on.

Cody hesitated. "Gluten intolerance?" He guessed. Maybe the guy had celiac or something. He glanced at Dari questioningly. Why on earth had they brought someone who couldn't eat to a pizza place? "I'm sure they have something gluten free," he added, looking through the menu.

Danny laughed. "No, no! It's an everything intolerance. Really, I'm fine! This happens all the time."
You had to pretend to be interested to go out places with your castmates and try to avoid being questioned a lot on tour. He had only once given in and eaten something, and while it was nice at the time he had totally regretted it once the consequences came.
Dari glanced to Cody, a bit guiltily, although perhaps not for the reason Cody might expect.

Cody paused. He was quiet for a long time before turning to look to Dari. An everything intolerance? What? He began to frown. "Dari..."
He looked back to Danny then. "We should've taken you to the park or something," he said. "I'm sorry."

Dari gave Cody a look back. Did he think he'd really be so rude to an every-day person? Danny had even suggested they go somewhere to eat--
The server interrupted and took their order. Danny just pretended like he was going to share with someone and sipped his water. He glanced between the two others at the table. Awkward.
"Does he not know?" Danny asked.
"It might not matter." Cody still might have figured it out and not cared.

Another pause. "No," Cody said, "he didn't tell me anything." He shot Dari another look.
This guy was definitely an entity, but nothing off the top of his head got sick when they ate. Ghosts couldn't eat unless possessing someone, vampires, the food turned to ash in their mouth--at least in movies--zombies--no, the guy was alive. He didn't want to be rude, or accidentally alert the public to "Hey! None of us are human!" ...but. Why hadn't Dari told him?

Dari just sipped his water.
"Ah. Well," Danny began, and gave a little laugh, "I'm more of the neck-biting night-stalking type. I mean, physically anyway." He opened his mouth and tapped a well-formed but natural-looking canine. "I shave 'em down." He had known that Dari wanted Cody to meet entities, but he had no idea Cody wasn't told. Was he really that afraid?

Ahhh, so he was a vampire. Just..:an absolutely harmless one. "Aha," he said. "I get pms once a month." Of the hairy, hungry sort. He shrugged. "What are your hobbies? Since you're new to town, we could show you around after dinner."
