She turned around to face him as he came closer to her again. "Oh... Hmm... I thought I was being too boring, and that you were gonna leave." She sat on her hind legs with her front arms pressed down on the floor almost in a cat like way. Her tail wrapped around her like an extra arm to hug her.
She looked up at Twilight with a half hearted sigh. "You know... when you were away.. or that time I didn't see you for a while. A lot of bad things happened to me. If you get bored... or tired of me... I would have you tell me just right out."
Her face then softened as her features looked to him for some kind of reassurance. "So... please say you're still going to stay with me while my owner is away? And... promise that if you get bored or want to do something else.. that you will say it right away. OK?! Because if you leave all of a sudden... I will be very sad."

"Boring?" Twilight gasped and put his paws to his mouth. "I know I haven't known you that long, Ness, but I've never been bored with you." He meant the whole thing to be done jokingly, but then he saw that she was still upset, and he dropped his paws. Had he really done something awful to her?
Slowly he sat behind her, wrapping his arms around her tightly. "I'll stay as long as you like, Nessie." In fact, he'd do about anything to make her happy again. When she was sad, it made him sad too, and then neither of them was having any fun. Which was a shame for two Numas who liked it so much. "Don't worry, okay? I'm not going to leave if you don't want me to."

As her head was hanging a little, she felt his arms all around her. Then, she could smell his scent. His words made her feel a spring and release. She thought to herself she was being such a girl. She hated when that happened. She felt it ruined her super hero tough girl image. Still, she had misunderstood him a little. She was embarrassed a little; but she was by far more relieved that he wasn't bored.
She unfurled her tail from around herself, and it crawled all over him. Why was she worried? There wasn't an answer she could find. Or, not one she was ready to really consider. Emotional entanglements frightened her. She was always afraid of the feeling of not being able to control one's heart.
She squeezed her paws over his. She couldn't deny standing like this felt remarkably nice. She lifted her head some. "You... wanna dance? not anything fast yet. But... something light and pretty?" She felt already in asking that he would be willing, and she started to go down the stairs, leading and still holding on to him. She pressed a few buttons on her big jukebox.
After that was ready, she turned around to him to embrace him so ferverently. She felt like somehow; she had gotten on some kind of emotional ride without her own knowing. Now, she felt a little stuck on it; but she decided to make the best of it and see where it would take her. Maybe the more it scared her; the more thrilling it would be in the end.

It was an anxious time as Twilight waited, silently, to see if his words had any impact on Ness. He hated seeing her so upset, and hated the fact that it was his fault even more. Possibly worse was the fact that he still wasn't sure what he did wrong, but that just meant he had to try harder to fix it.
So while he was willing to work harder to make her happy, he was quite relieved when she seemed to be okay. He smiled, awkwardly but sincerely, and let himself be lead to the dance floor. "Something light and pretty sounds good."
In truth he would have preferred something fast and fiesty, but if something more relaxed would make Ness feel better, he'd be willing to play along. After all, if she felt better, he would be better too. The music kicked in, and even though Twilight was already holding her paws, he held them out in front of him.
"May I have this dance?"

Ness grew a smile then. "Of course! I would love to dance with you." She drew in close to him and laid her head on his shoulder. She hated feeling restless and emotional. She knew she was somehow making this very not fun.
She told herself inwardly that she really needed to just let go and not worry. Whatever was coming of all this; she'd let it happen naturally. That's what she was always telling people, right? To let things happen naturally? So, why was she fighting so hard something that was happening?
Luckily, she had a nature that quickly rebounded when feeling down. She suddenly had an idea that would be very fun; and yet at the same time, it would be relaxing and something. After dancing with him for a while, she said softly. "I have an idea... wanna build a bonfire? And roast marshmellows? It's dark out. We can eat warm gooey marshmellows and watch the stars come out."
Hearing herself say it, it sounded like an even better idea. Warm toasted marshmellow-y goodness was something that was a guaranteed pick me up no matter who you were.

She seemed to be getting back into the spirit of things, Twilight was pleased to note. He let her rest her head on his shoulder, and wrapped one of his arms around her. The other he used to hold hers, and he began to sway slowly, letting the music dictate his movements.
It was relaxing to him as well. While Twilight hadn't noticed immediately, his emotions were also in a tangle. He wasn't used to worrying too much about what effect his actions would have on others. Usually, if they weren't on his wavelength, he didn't especially care. Now, all of a sudden, it mattered a lot more.
Ness's suggestion was eagerly welcomed. The marshmallows sounded good, but the starwatching- one of Twilight's favorite calming activities- sounded even better. She really did have the best ideas!
"Ness, you are brilliant!" he exclaimed, whirling her around. "And I know the perfect place to go, too!" Wouldn't this be fantastic?

Ness face went all squee when he swung her around like that. It felt like they were so much in one accord and on the same page. She loved how that seemed to happen so often. When he stopped spinning her, she lept up.
"Oh really? That's great.... Let me pack a bag." She ran out into the other room, grabbing a backpack and digging through cupboards looking for the marshmallows and stuff for making fires. She threw it all in the bag, and then she ran to get a blanket from the pantry. She rolled it and connected it on the bottom of the backpack.
She was like a boyscout sometimes. She liked going on adventures prepared in case the unexpected happens. So far for her, that seemed to be the case. She had been moving very quickly. Needless to say, she was stoked and totally up for this. "OK!!! I'm like ready!!! Lead the way, baby!" She decided to wink and play that off. She really wasn't sure why that had come out. Was her mouth speaking without her consent now?

Twilight nodded, letting Ness get on with her business. She didn't look like he needed much help, so he stayed in her room, looking around. They had been darting from one thing to the next so quickly, he'd hardly had a chance to admire any of it. Like the jukebox. That was especially fun, because it played music AND glowed, two of Twilight's favorite things.
While he could hear Ness rattling in the cupboards, his attention was still on the jukebox. First he pressed his ear to it, to see if that made any difference. It didn't. Fascinated, he peered in the small window, getting so close that his nose pushed up against the glass.
When Ness came out, Twilight jumped back abruptly, nearly falling head over tail. Thankfully he landed on an especially cushy part of the rug, and looked up at, mildly embarrassed. Then he jumped up, brushed himself off, and took her elbow gently. "Allow me, m'lady."

Ness saw his embarrassed face, but she wasn't sure what it was for since she missed him falling to the ground. She just smiled thinking he was blushing for her. Then she wondered why it made her feel kind of happy to think so. She brushed it aside as those kinds of thoughts sometimes scared her.
She smiled as she took Twi's elbow. She followed as he led the way, her tail flickering behind her and wrapping around his tail. She felt particularly excited, but it wasn't just excitement to do something fun. She was plenty happy about that; but there was another feeling of excitement. She wasn't sure about it as it was something new. With her free arm, she grasped onto a strap from over her back. She started humming a tune from one of the songs that had played earlier.

Now that things were back to the way they had been before, Twilight was almost giddy. Every few steps he took, he added a skip. When they were outside, he tossed his head back and inhaled deeply. While being inside Ness's sanctuary was fun, he generally preferred the outdoors.
"It's not long," he reassured her, skipping more jovially. "Or not far. But definitely fun!" After all, he was with a fun girl, about to have some delicious food under the stars. He couldn't imagine anything better.

"Ok..." She withdrew her arm from his elbow, and she scurried behind him and jumped on his back. "Am I too heavy? If I'm not too heavy, you can carry me there?" She leaned her head in and nuzzled against the back of his ears.

Leading Ness along was one thing, but carrying her was another! While Twilight wouldn't have minded, her sudden action pressed against his small wings, painfully pinning them to his back. Caught off guard, he let out a yelp of surprise.
"I don't mind," he said slowly, trying to wiggle his shoulders. "But that hurts a little." A little was putting it mildly, but he didn't want to upset her again, not after she was feeling better. Then, the solution occurred to him. "If you get down for a sec, I think I know how to make it work for both of us."

"Sorry..." She looked a little sheepish. She hadn't really noticed his wings before. She was so accustomed to most males not having them. She jumped down and waited patiently. "I never noticed you have wings before. Can you fly with them?"

Twilight rolled his shoulders, then stretched his wings out. Everything moved easily, which meant that he was only bruised, not strained or broken. Satisfied, he turned back to Ness and nodded. "We all have wings, silly," he laughed. "But most guys have teeny tiny light ones. I think I get mine from my mom."
He paused for a moment, thinking. It wasn't often that Twilight thought of his family. He didn't see any of them often, nor know anyone all that well. Tugging the end of the bandage that covered his mouth, he closed his eyes, then opened them and nodded. It didn't matter at the moment, not when he was supposed to be having fun.
"A little," he replied, circling his arms like a windmill to loosen them up. "Not well. Not as well as you can, I'm sure. Now then!" Without waiting for a reply, he put his arms around Ness- one around her shoulders, the other under her knees- and swept her off her feet. "I think this is better, don't you?" he asked, winking.

Ness found herself drawn in, and she watched his every move. She smiled as he spread his wings and seemed to be just fine. She watched his expression look serious for a while. She just stood there patiently watching. It seemed for that moment he was very far away somewhere. She knew those looks. She had them herself every so often since her incident in the swamps.
"Yeah. I can fly pretty well, but sometimes I get too caught up in flying fast.. and I'll lose control or balance. I have been trying to reign myself in to control it better."
Then, her eyes widened, and if it could be seen, a deep and burning pink bridged across her nose and cheeks. It was better. Not just for not walking. It was like when they were dancing. She could hear his heart beat, and she could smell his fur. Her tail wrapped around her side, and it laid on her hip, slightly touching into her tummy. "Yes. This is very nice. As long as I'm not too heavy.. or.. am not being a burden. I mean.... I wouldn't want you to do it if you didn't want to. I don't like to force myself on people." Though she was sure it was hard to tell at times.
