Kreiss Fangheart, The Knight of the Red
User Image

Kreiss gave a small chuckle at her annoyance over the ax and as Philip let out another honking noise. He simply gave her a nod when she said she would protect him if the place was invaded again, though the idea made his stomach unsettled slightly, and brought up the question of how she did that when she could barely swing an ax. For now he let the idea go though and instead moved to follow her out to the small garden.

"So a knight to a farmer hmm? I must be a rather strange sight to see right about now."
He looked down at his person and stepped around a bit as he did his inspection before looking up at Zena. "What do you think? Do you think I'm a rather strange sight to see? Maybe I should change the weapon I wield to a hoe while I am wearing my armor. Call myself the Turnip Knight."

Kreiss then struck a simple pose, looking off into the fake distance as he put a foot on the log, stretching an arm out as if he was holding up an imaginary weapon, which, could only be a hoe considering the conversation thus far. "And so he lead the kingdom to eternal peace, one turnip at a time." Kreiss announced, using an almost sing-song voice to mimic a bard telling the tale of this newly found 'Turnip Knight'

Zena White, The Witch of the Woods

"A... Turnip Knight?" Zena asked as she looked up at Kriess with a blank face at first, showing no emotion. "Pft!" She covered her mouth trying to hold in a laugh but she couldn't keep it in and she let out a barking laugh, holding her stomach as a few tears managed to escape her eyes. " One turnip at a time." She laughed, trying to calm herself down and wiped her eyes. " That would be the dumbest fairy tale but only you could pull that off." She snickered.

Letting out a sigh she kneeled down to where the potatoes were and waved him over to come. " Sir Turnip bring over your hoe so we can start digging up these potatoes." She said before pointed to the ground where the potatoes where. " Use the hoe to dig up the potatoes here and put them in the basket. Don't be to rough with the hoe alright?" She said before standing up again and walked over to her herb area and started to pick some of the herbs she needed to dry out. " Turnip Knight, pft..." She chuckled a little more before letting out a sigh.

As some time had passed and Zena had gathered the herbs she had wanted she looked over to Kriess and smiled over at him. " Farmer look isn't bad look on you Kriess. Dirt and stubble really bring out your cheek bones." She teased but to be honest he really didn't look all that bad. Zena cleared her throat and rubbed the back of her head, looking away slightly. " B-But your face looks better behind a helmet." Zena said before she started to make her way down to the spring. " Bring the watering can down here when you are done!" She shouted as she walked away. Once she reached the spring she cupped her hands together and filled it up with water before splashing herself in the face with it. Why was she feeling so odd today? She looked down at her palm again where the splinter was still and she started to pick at it again.

Kreiss just gave an awkward smile and chuckle as she said that he was the only one that could pull it off. He wasn't sure if that was a compliment or an insult. However, just as she ordered he came stepping over and glanced to where she was talking about. "Yeah I can do that... I think. Just gotta be slow about it right?"

He then set to work on gathering potatoes with the hoe. Setting the hoe firmly into the dirt with solid swings and then gently scooping it away to reveal potatoes before kneeling and digging them fully out with his hands before stacking them to the side. Kreiss certainly had a lot to learn as when she looked over he had only gotten a few groupings of potatoes pulled out.

When she spoke up to him again he moved to look up from his kneeling position, straightening his back and wiping at his face. There was a grin on his face as he did so. "I am glad you think so Zena, it is a nice compliment coming..." He then watched her quickly escape over to the spring after awkwardly continuing to compliment him and escape. "... From you." He finished as she escaped talking range.

He looked up at the sky and scratched at his chin for a moment. "Wonder why she is acting so strangely today. Maybe she's just feeling a bit closed in. She's lived out here all by herself for so long after all." Kreiss then gave a shrug and began to continue digging around, glancing over to Philip the donkey. "Do you know why she is acting strange Philip?"

Zena White, The Witch of the Woods

As Philips name was called he looked up at Kriess before looking over the way Zena went. The old Donkey turned his head back to Kreiss, giving his head a shake before bending his head down to get a drink of water.

With some time Zena finally managed to get the splinter out but not without scratching up her hand a little. She sat along the edge of the spring waiting for Kreiss to come down with the watering can. She looked out to the water and hummed quietly to herself to pass the time. She remembered when she first came here this spring was nothing more then a almost dried out swamp with the water undrinkable. Her mother used her magic to make this spring for them to live off of and in hopes to make more life here in this cursed forest but the only thing they were able to grow was what you saw in her little garden. " One day I will make this forest alive again mother... Just you wait." Zena said softly to herself.

As she looked out into the water she saw something small that was pink in the water. She slowly got up and squinted her eyes to see what it was. Zena then gasped at the sight she saw, it was a pink lotus along the edge of the water. There was no life in this spring nor anywhere in this forest but her garden to know. Quickly Zena ran to the edge where the lotus was, wanting to grab it but it was out of reach. There was a log in the water that would get her closer to the flower so she slowly climb onto the log and started to walk to the edge of the log and reached out trying to grab the flower. " Almost...There..." She reached out a little more, almost touching it before the small girl fell in right into the water.

Philips head perked up right away from the sound of a splash coming form the spring. The old donkey trotted over to the edge of his pen that looked over the spring to see Zena in the spring, fighting to get to the surface. Philip started to run back and forth, letting out honks as he thrashed his head about. Zena couldn't swim as she was tariffed of deep bodies of water.

Kreiss was still working on digging out the final parts of the potatoes when the splash happened. He glanced up and looked towards the source of the location, spotting that Philip was pushing against his fence as he did so. His body was in motion before it even registered what had fully happened.

Kreiss's body shot across the garden and flowed over the thin fence like he was made of the wind itself, sprinting towards the spring as fast as he could and when he reached its edge he jumped over the water as best as he could and was submerged in the ice cold depths. His healing injuries were lit with fiery pain as soon as they touched the water, but his body kept moving, now pushing itself through the water towards Zena's direction.

It did not take him much longer to reach where she was splashing about. He came up fro, under her, an arm wrapping around her waist and pulling her up along with her heavy clothing. "Take a deep breath Zena! Deep breath! We'll be going under soon! I've got you don't worry! Just try and stay calm!" He exclaimed as he kicked his feet to try and keep them above for as long as he could for her to catch her breath. The shore wasn't that far off but he didn't want her passing out or swallowing water in her frantic thrashing

Zena was thrashing her arms about, trying to reach the surface, grab onto the log or anything really that she could use to pull herself up but nothing. She was only sinking further and further into the spring. She was tariffed, Zena really thought this was the end for her as she thought for sure that Kriess would not of heard her. Her movements soon got slower and slower as water filled up in her lungs and her heavy clothing just sunk her down further and faster.

When she felt something grab her waist she started to panic even more not knowing what it was. She let out a scream under water that only got more water in her lungs as she tried to push off whatever was holding her but soon her body went limp as her small body could not take in the water or the fear and she passed out.

Kreiss was battered across his body as she continued to flail and push him off as they went back under. He flinched a few times as he caught an elbow on the shoulder or across the temple and when she went limp he knew things had gone from bad to worse.

He touched down at the bottom of the spring and pushed off, swimming as quickly as he could for the surface and to the edge of the water. Muscles burned and ached as he worked his body to its current healing limit. The water broke from around his head and he got the rest of the way to shore, touching his feet down and turning to drag Zena out of the water.

Once that was done he immediately rolled her onto her side and his other arm reached to push on chest to try and squeeze any water she might have swallowed out of her. After a moment of pressure he released the pressure and waited. It was the only thing he knew how to do. "Come on Zena. Breathe. You weren't under for long. Come on... Breathe."

Zena White, The Witch of the Woods

Everything went blank for Zena. At first she could at least hear water around her hand the sound of her racing heartbeat but soon there was nothing. Not the sound of water nor her racing heart beat...There was nothing but darkness. As if she fell into internal nothingness. Her body was limp and ice cold, her white frail skin turning into a ghostly ice cold. Her once pink lushes pink lips now a ice cold blue as if the life was being sucked out of her.

As Kreiss brought Zena up to land there was still nothing from her. She was still blue and lifeless and still in a world of darkness until Kreiss started to use cpr on her. She could hear his voice faintly and soon enough Zena started to cough up water. The now socking wet woman tried to sit up as she still coughed and thrashed about almost as if she still thought she was under water. Her body trembled in both fear and from the cold as her body was still in shock. She grabbed onto whatever she could as if she was still tying to save herself and pull herself out of the water and that happened to be Kriess. She clinched onto his shirt and tried to pull herself up but she had not strength to do so.

Kreiss watched for a few moments as nothing happened and then the lurch of her body before coughing and sputtering as water flowed out of her mouth. "Zena you're-." he stopped as she began to thrash and reach out for something, snagging his shirt and then doing her best to pull her up.

He shifted from a kneeling position over her to a sitting one, pulling her into his lap and holding her in a loose hug. "Zena! Zena it's okay! Shhh... It's okay! You're okay! Everything is okay. Shhh... No need to be afraid, I'm right here. I'm right here... It's okay." He continued the mantra as she struggled and squirmed, doing his best to keep her locked close to him, but giving her room to move her arms and legs around so she could explore the space around her and feel that she was no longer under water.

One hand eventually moved up to run a hand through her hair. He needed to get her inside and soon, but he would have to do that after she was calmed down. He had to handle things one at a time, first was to get Zena to recognize that he was handling the situation. "Zena... Zena can you talk? Are you okay? Does it hurt anywhere? If you can't talk, point me to where it hurts."

Zena was filled with such fear as she had to face one of her darkest fears and she thought for sure that she had died. As Kreiss pulled her into his lap and into a loose hug the frighten young woman started to calm down a little, still in panic as she was still clinching onto Kreiss and trembling. She looked around her, trying to gather where she was and what was around her. Letting out coughs as she was still trying to catch her breath as she felt a slight warmth seeping into her skin.

The young woman soon stopped thrashing about and slowly looked up at Kreiss as his voice finally reached her. "K...Kreiss...?" She asked asked softly as her voice cracked. She soon realized that the the warmth that she was feeling and was wrapped around her was Kriess himself. Looking up at him with her heart still racing and trying to catch her breath she simple shook her head slowly as to say that nothing hurt before she rested her head on his chest, to warn out and cold to speak or even keep keep her head up for so long.

"Yes, it's me. I'm right here, it's okay." He stated gently, still petting her head slowly as she leaned against him and began to relax. A small smile formed on his face as he continued to comfort the tiny woman, doing his best to ignore the pain that scratched at his wounds.

After a moment he shifted his weight and moved his arms, one to support Zena's back and the other going under both knees as he lifted her up into a princess carry. "Going to take you inside next to the fire okay? You're soaking wet and we can't have you staying that way for to long else you'll catch a cold. Just relax and I'll take care of everything today."

His voice was a gentle murmur, trying to be as comforting as possible for the shock she just went through. Kreiss looked back to the water for a moment before stepping away and towards the house slowly. He looked over to Philip to see how he was reacting.

Zena White, The Witch of the Woods

As Kreiss spoke softly to her she could hear his heart beat as Zena had her head resting on his chest. His heart beat was big in strong and soothing to the ear. Not only did the sound of his deep yet soft voice and heart beat calm her down but his hand running through her hair and petting her. She closed her eyes and stayed rested on Kreiss's chest for warmth. " I'm... Cold..." She murmured softly. Her red cloak she loved so much didn't help much as is added a bit of wait onto her and kept in the wet and cold.

She then started to feel movement around her which made her open her eyes slowly to see what was happening around her to see that Kriess was picking her up princess style that made her have a warm fuzzy feeling inside. He said he was going to take her inside and she gave a simple nod before he said he would take care of everything. " Y-You can't do everything... You are still healing...A-And I don't trust your cooking..." She tried to make the mood a little lighter then what it was. As Kreiss carried her away from the spring she was still clinching onto his shirt, not as tightly but she was still holding on.

As the two who were now soaking wet walked by Philip he walked along the fence made of sticks, following them till the end of his pen and stock his head over to make sure his little care giver was alright. Once he saw she was alright he gave a slight little nod to them both.

Kreiss gave Zena a look. "I'm not going to let you do any physical labor for the day. Even if I am still healing I can afford a little bit of strain on my body now. I need you to rest, get dry and warm to prevent sickness." He then let out a sigh and a chuckle. "I can cook a little bit, but it's true I would rather have something made by you than by my own hands."

Kreiss paused in front of Philip as he followed them to the edge of his pen. He smiled as the animal gave them both a nod and then he carried on and past the garden, moving to open the door and into the house where the cinders of the fire sat.

Kreiss set Zena in a chair gently before moving over to the bed to get the thin blanket and setting it on the table. "While I'm getting the fire up and started again, you strip and wrap yourself in that blanket. I'll hang your clothes up to dry once I'm done with the fire." He reached and pet Zena on the head once again before turning and pulling a few logs out, setting them up carefully in the hearth and blowing on the cinders beneath them ever so gently to try and spark some life back into the hearth.

Zena White, The Witch of the Woods

" I-I can do something." She tried to fight back, she didn't want to seem weak to him but at this point was there really a point? To Zena there was as she wanted to protect whatever little pride she had left. " If the water didn't kill me I am sure your cooking will..." The shivering woman grumbled to herself at the thought of seeing Kreiss cook. It was hard enough o picture him farming but he managed to pull it off. She smiled softly to herself when the knight carrying her said he rather have hr cooking. She didn't know why but that made her happy.

The moment they entered the cabin Zena let out a quivering sigh as she felt the warmth of the cabin hit her. She finally let go of Kreiss when he sat her down on the chair and she crossed her arms to keep herself warm as water dripped from her hair and clothes. "S-Strip!?" She asked with her cheeks turning a bit red at the thought. "I-I-I..." She watched him turn away to the fire and watched him a few moments to make sure he wouldn't sneak a peek at her. "N-No peeking..." Zena warned Kreiss before she took off her red cloak that revealed her black dress that was now clinging onto her body, showing off her curve that you couldn't see before do to the dress being wet. She then pealed off her black dress and set the wet clothes on the chair before wrapping the blanket around her person. "Okay..." She said shyly as she hid her blushing face behind the blanket a little.

Kreiss had gotten the fire going a bit before Zena had finished changing out of her clothes, but as she requested he simply stared at the fire until she gave him the okay. Once she had he turned his head slowly just to make sure and when he confirmed she was wrapped in the blanket he turned the rest of his body, moving to pick up her wet and dripping clothes. He moved to get the other chair situated close to the fire, stretching out the black dress first.

If Kreiss was the least bit embarrassed his face didn't show it and neither did his actions. After the dress was laid out to dry he looked around the house and simply moved to hang the cloak up on a hook meant for a pot instead. He gave a nod and stepped back. "Alright... That should allow those to dry relatively quickly." He then looked back to Zena.

"I'm going to head back outside and finish what I was doing. You just stay in here and read a book while you warm up and dry off. I'll be back shortly okay?" Kreiss asked moving to kneel in front of Zena's chair to be eye level with her, reaching a hand out for her to take. "Or, if you want I can stay here for a bit just to make sure."
