Now.
Not later, NOW!
Breathing not really breath but hope.
Hope, that the lights will snuff and the roar would silence
As you watch them they just appear nothing like before
Nothing like the ones that coddled you until now.
If escape was an option, it would be a fleeting one at best
As no matter how much the feeling to run overwhelmed
Their hatred of those actions nailed the feet to the floor
Despair bore no meaning as hopelessness shrouded
As tolerance wanes, silence develops its own agenda
Wait until a breath is taken, that one moment of sweet opportunity
The flash of this existence that makes the difference
The one that makes the goosepimples swell
The feeling of unencumbered freedom
That one single moment
In which You say...

SPECIAL PRESENTATION
In a Dark Land

Black.

Nothing but black.

So black not even light can shine in this wretched place HE calls home. A place filled with the worst fears and nightmares imaginable. You could spend an eternity here and still not experience them all.

The Void.

That's what we call it.

Who are we? We are the shadows. We silently watch the world go by concealed in darkness and only once in a while we get the chance to crossover and oh how we love to create a little chaos, panic & disorder when we do.

The trifecta.

All in HIS name, for this is HIS realm.

HIS prison.

None of us dare go near HIM nor HIS lair for to do so would invoke a fate worse than a thousand deaths. To be unmade, shattered and broken - Mind, body and spirit. *shudder*

HE is what fear is both made and afraid of. Old as time and twice as bitter. I heard tale once of a lowly imp who brazenly entered HIS crypt.

HIS inner sanctum.

A long dark corridor aligned with six bubbling pits filled with a black mire so thick it makes moving through tar feel like moving through air afterward. Pure essence of fear in a liquid state. It keeps HIM fed.

The lowly imp made two mistakes that day.

He entered the inner sanctum.

He drank of the mire.

From nothingness HE appeared grabbing the imp by its tail. Nothing but a hovering mass of black fog and two glowing red eyes is seen when one gazes upon HIS form.

"Insolent welp." HE says.

"Now you will learn your place in the order"

And with a mighty inhale an exhale he began to slowly blow away the flesh of the poor imp. It shrieked in agony and sheer pain as he was slowly flayed by a searing hot wind. It scorched down to the bone. Then all was cold.

No skin.

No muscle

Just bone and organs remained of the poor little imp as it slowly limped and whimpered off back unto the cold embrace of the shadows. How do I know of this tale? How do I know that in this dark land it's survival of the fittest? How do I know that none dare challenge HIS reign?

Easy.

...I was the imp.

When you make a new post, underneath where you type there are options in dropdown menus. One of them is "Post Style", it's on the bottom left.

The writing contest closes on the 19th, still have 2 days biggrin

Turns out I never ended up writing anything serious for the contest. Guess my not-so-serious entry will be my entry. User Image

XD Some Norwegians aren't much better... Though I will say that, on the whole, Norwegian schools were far more pleasant than American schools. Maybe it's the whole first name basis thing.

At least Americans can point to their own country on a map though, and it only takes a second or two. Granted, given the sheer size of the country, it's pretty easy to spot...

Learning the first name of new people you meet (even your boss at work) is a good start to get along with 'em.

Can't say I've seen Norwegians having major problems finding Norway on a map. Though; I do admit we would have to take a moment to identify the surrounding area. I guess some people is confused by how small Norway look on a globe, compared to a map/book.

For today's clue:

Coming here was a grave mistake and now I cannot let you pass. With a boom and a swoosh all the little acronyms come spreading woe & fear and causing pain & frustration. Which oddly enough is exactly where our names come from as you'll shout them out in times of woe, pain, fear and frustration.
