wow! that's exactly what i think too Jaz! people think i'm crazy when i tell them about that side of IT, people who haven't read him just think'horror'when you say Stephen King but he'a about so much more than that.
The time the kids spend in the Barrens, digging out their clubhouse and building the dam and so on are lovely to read. i envy Mr.King's imagination and his ability to sink back into childhood in this way, it's a great releaase.

You're gonna think I'm totally crazy (probably already do lol) but i actually wrote my college application essay on "IT" I just found a copy of it while going thru boxes and unpacking. I'm gonna have to copy it online somewhere. It was all about how they all worked together and were able to rely on each other for strength and support (or something like that) Same with "Stand by Me" ... I had a summer like that (well not with killer clowns or dead bodies lol) it was one of the best summers (and the worst...but isn't everything exaggerated when we're young) Maybe someday I'll get inspired and write about it. After i finish my ghost story that is xd

*Wonders if I need to give Steven King yet another chance* rolleyes

I have been enjoying something rather new to me, my sister got a book for her birthday called "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West" by Gregory Maguire, and loving it. Apparently he has written this type of story based on several 'children's classic books and I am ejoying "Wicked" (based on the "Oz" books) so much I went on Amazon and ordered several of his other titles.

I guess I like oddball literature. I do enjoy the previously mentioned Douglas Adams, especially his underrated Dirk Gently novels. Someone mentioned not
caring for "Cry, the Beloved Country" by Alan Paton as well; people interested in South African literature but unimpressed by Paton might enjoy "In the Fog of the Seasons End" by Alex LaGuma. But be warned that it's pretty depressing.
I also like Chinua Achebe, Meja Mwangi, William Faulkner, Ralph Ellison, Toni Morrison, Ishmael Reed, Kurt Vonnegut and Zadie Smith. I'm sure there are others, too, but who can name them all?

Anyone who is interested is welcome to read my weblog. I just started it at the end of last month and there are only four posts, but I plan to update it as often as possible. It's mostly just complaints or silly throwaway pieces, but it keeps me off the streets.

I finally got around to reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Now I'm gonna have to go back and reread the Goblet of Fire and the Order of the Phoenix because I don't remember them as much.

I haven't re-read any of the HP books yet. I know some of my friends have read them so many times they've lost count! I have too many other books I need to get through too!

Ok! (When does the movie come out?)

We probably wouldn't see it in the theater anyway and would wait until DVD. We don't rent anymore, now that we don't live near a Hastings, so we seem to buy everything that's worthy buying, which to Jason is almost everything.

I think it's next month I'll have to IMDB it... means it's around March I would think before it would come out on video and if it's as amazing as I think it's going to be I'll just have to buy it for both of us heart

I remember loving the first book, losing interest early on in the second book (which I have heard from alot of people since was not one of the better ones) so I have basically decided that when she is all done, I will go through and read them all. Did that with Anne Rice once upon a time and it worked out rather well... when I have to wait around for sequels, I tend to forget half of what I have read, and it takes some of the fun out ~ Guess that is what I get for getting old!
