"Me too," Lori said. He leaned over to snuggle up beside his baby-faced love and throw his arms around him. "This past week has been bullshit." Week and a half, actually, but he was pretty sure it was over. "and the intern's doing pretty well, actually. She settled in after Michael stopped scaring the s**t out of her. She'd good with potential ghosts."

"Really?" Luca was surprised. He smiled softly. Lori never seemed to give compliments to his interns, this was new. "Michael's giving her a hard time?" He asked. That was funny, seeing what she was good at...
He snuggled back against Lori. "I love you," he said.

Lori nodded. "I mean, that's what we get the most of, but still."
Apparently interns only got so much of a compliment at one time. His smile returned then, though, and he pulled Luca close to kiss his forehead. "I love you too."

Luca smiled at the kiss. He stroked Lori's cheek. "Sooner we sleep, the sooner tomorrow comes," he said. It'd be a good day. "Make sure you have a coin so we can flip it, see which way we go first."

In the morning, Lori made pancakes. He was the least terrible of the two of them when it came to baking, and pancakes existed somewhere between that and cooking. He got dressed and tucked a quarter into his pocket, and then they were out.
"Do you want to go into the city first, or do you just want to... go?"

"Do you want to go to the city first?" Luca turned the question back to Lori. "We could. Shopping?" Maybe they'd find something interesting. "Then we could get lunch--but after pancakes, we won't need anything for a while..." He looked to Lori. "What do you want to do?" He asked.

"We'll probably end up back in the city anyway." Besides, he didn't have anything in particular that he needed to go out looking for. You needed to plan wedding stuff well ahead of time. Men got it easy. They could just rent a tux. "Here."
He handed Luca the quarter. "What's left and what's right?"

"Probably," Luca agreed, and smiled at Lori. "Let's get lost again, then." He took the quarter and thought for a moment. "Heads right, tails left?" He suggested. He flipped it. "Tails! Want to pick another?"

"We'll go as we get there." Like fate, almost. Why ask what the next three turns should be before you got there? Lori didn't believe in fate, not really, but today was a day for enjoying little games and things. "What happens when we hit a one-way? Do we keep going or turn around and try again?" He didn't have a preference himself. It was more games.

"We'll keep going until we find a left turn," Luca decided, and smiled at Lori. This was going to be fun. He remembered the last time they'd done this; it'd been a while ago. "We'll probably get lost," he added, thoughtfully. "Tell me when you get to a street you don't recognize."

"That might take a while," Lori said, and it probably would. That didn't matter, though. He'd tell Luca when they got there, when they were really lost. The only risk then was that the coin would lead them back into town again. "Tell me when you start to get hungry."

Packing for Christmas vacation was harder than Kevin had ever imagined. He'd packed two sets clothes and his Xbox, and he'd thought that'd be it. Maia, though, had insisted he bring; several outfits, a pair of pajamas, a book, his toothbrush, toothpaste, a coat, gloves, and a scarf.
"You'll need them for when we go out in the snow," she promised. "Toby! Are you packed?"

Toby had done this more times than anyone.
"Yeah, I'm all set!" he called, and then he appeared in the doorway in case anyone needed any help. "Are you good? Do you need help?" Maia had done this before too, so if someone needed help, he doubted that it was her.
"Have you seen Michael lately? I don't want to leave him."
"He can't stay behind if we take the ring," Dari chimed from the other room.
"Right, right."

"Want to help Kevin zip up his bag?" Maia turned to look at Toby and grinned. "He's having trouble closing it." Kevin was sitting on his case, trying to close it.
"Yeah, Toby! Help," he said, struggling with the zipper. "Maia made me pack too much! I don't need all those clothes."
"Michael, are you ready to go?" Maia called.

"Well we're gonna be there a while..." Toby mused. He went to Kevin's bag and zipped it closed with some difficulty as the boy sat on it. It was always better to pack too much than to pack too little. "Laundry isn't really my favorite pastime."
There came no response from Michael, but that wasn't altogether unusual. Like Dari had said, the ghost really didn't have a choice in the matter.
