Raidek mildly ignored the bartenders words for now, as if this were an everyday occurrence to him.

“Thats not exactly the idea here, the idea is that I saw your little performance with the mass of man behind me. Wasn't exactly an enjoyable fight, but I saw a few things that took my interest. I think you know what those are, and I'm willing to do what I have to for you to teach that which I'm most interested in, to me.”

Raidek kept his senses open to any whom may approach him or any attack he may receive from anyone else in the room.

"I figured you'd either want to fight me or learn from me," Jania said in an almost disappointed tone. "Every time I show my particular talent that we both know you want, someone like you approach me and asks me to train them. What exactly makes you so much more different from the other idiots I've had ask me, other than your entrance."

Jania thought took a short breath then conitnued on, "I'll give you the same test I've given them and if you pass which I very highly doubt, then I will consider it." Without waiting for a response, Jania stood up and left the building and moved to leave the town enough so that she could be alone with this man when she 'tested' him. She glanced back once or twice while walking to ensure that he was following so that she wasn't just having allot of extra exercise.

Raidek stood as she began to leave and mutter, “Because I'm not an idiot..”

He followed her, figuring leaving would please the bartender, and that the male he had left unconscious there would be brought back and probably given a cold ale to work through the pain. Raidek waited for her to stop where ever it was that she was taking him.

“So what is this test?”
PostPosted: Sat Sep 06, 2008 3:46 pm

"The test is simple, really. You will shut up and listen carefully to my instructions and will not move until I say go." Jania said, the fact that she seemed impatient was showing very clearly. It seemed as if she had gone through the motions of this test more times then she could count. Jania held out her necklace and the portal opened up and Rayneer leaped out but stayed immediately by her side.

"Failure to follow my instructions will obviously result in my not being willing to teach you. I won't teach those who can't listen," Jania continued on as if summoning her companion was also nothing new to her, and Rayneer looked particularly bored as well almost as if his body language was as close to human in saying 'Again?'. "Now then, I'm going to give you a simple test that will test, among obvious things: your ability to listen, your ability to focus and your ability to react quickly to dangerous situations. I'd say your life is in no danger but then I'd be lying."

Jania paused for a moment to let the fact sink in that this could very well end the masked man's life to see if it would waver his determination. "From the time we start to the time we end will only be about 5 seconds and your goal will be very simple, avoid the attack, do NOT attack back." Jania pointed a hand at the masked man and thought of her strings, instantly four stings shot from each of her fingers attaching to his arms and legs, more specifically his knees and elbows. "Go," Jania said and at the same time Rayneer launched himself at the masked man intending to sink his fangs deep into the mans hip. Jania simultaneously prepared to force the man back into the direction of the attack if he tried to move. He would be forced to severe the strings if he wanted to escape.

Raidek thought best it not to speak while she explained the test and that fact that she might consider not teaching him if he were to. So he stood there as she explained what he had to do as if this was completely practiced or rather a monotonous speech given dozens of times to students whom must have failed. Ability to react quickly to dangerous situations...that easy enough.

Putting his life on the line for something he wanted had been a daily occurrence for many years and though not as often as it once was, he certainly didn't waver, in fact a slight grin could be partially seen because of a broken part of his mask that was by his jaw. He then watched as the strings attached to his elbows and knees. This could make things slightly more difficult. Raidek had seen how the strings worked in the her battle against the other mage. At least, he had come with an idea of what exactly they did from her last battle. Then she said, “Go.” Raideks first instinct was to move out of the way of the spider coming at him, so he attempted to step with his right leg, and it in turn was strongly resisting him in return. She is trying to force me to stay still... The spider was almost on him.

Raidek knew he didn't have time to figure out how to sever the strings so he went to plan C as it were and thrusted his hips to the right and muttered, “Proventus vis.” While focusing on his hips, the spell took effect and basically threw him like a rag doll to the right, the spider just barely missing him and moving past the spot where he had been standing. He rolled over the ground and came to a stop about ten feet from where he had been standing, the strings still attached.

He laughed slightly, not sure if he'd be able to get up, so he continued to lay there, “How'd I do.”

"Well enough, I guess," Jania said as she tried it hide the fact that she was very impressed. No one had ever thought to try and force themselves away, they always panicked and tried to get away from the massive spider coming to attack them. Jania stopped feeding her magical energy to the strings and they faded away into nothingness. "I suppose now I will take you under my wing for a few days to train and see if even have the potential to silent cast. During this time you will refer to me as either Jania-Sensei, Mistress McWaylenn or Master. You will also listen to my every command without question. If i tell you to do something I expect you to do it as if your life depended upon it because in some cases, it might. If in a few days I've determined your actually worth the trouble then I'll proceed to teach you."

Jania paused for a moment simply to let the thought sink in that this was a very rare experience for anyone. "Now you may speak again, after you formally introduce yourself to me without wearing the mask, we may proceed back to town. Also i suppose I should let you know that you'll be paying for my room, for tonight at least."

As soon as Raidek could feel the numbness disappear, he stood and dusted himself off a bit. Turning to face her, he listened to her every word, because this was something he wanted and was going to do what he had to do in order to acquire it. Just like old times... Thinking to himself while she spoke about the years spent training under his former master.

Once she was done, he nodded and spoke, “Yes master.” He reached up and took his mask by what remained of the chin and pulled it way from his face, revealing the tribal tattoos that clawed their way from his body onto his head. “My name is Raidek.”

"Alright," Jania said as she started back towards the town, she motioned for Raidek to follow next to her. "So I suppose we should start by you telling me exactly what it is you expect me to teach you, even though you and I both know what it is. I want to hear it formally, as well as your affinities in the field of magic and any special talents you think you have."

Raidek placed the mask back on his face before he continued speaking. “I wish for you to teach me silent casting as well as any other spell you think could better me. Myself, I have an affinity for fire and earth magic in particular, as well as any spells that pertain to stealth and or battle performance.” He paused a moment debating within himself what exactly to tell her as his specialties. I have a few spell that may or may not interest you, one of which allows me to become invisible, and another one in particular which I am still teaching myself allows me to become the embodiment of fire. I have other spells that may or may not interest you, but those are the ones I think you would be most intrigued by.”
PostPosted: Sat Sep 06, 2008 7:20 pm

"Well," Jania said with some interest, "invisibility you say. That almost sounds like illusionist magic which is a branch I am familiar with. As for the other two, I don't have an affinity for either so I will not be of much help in learning the actual spells. Silent casting on the other hand is something I have been able to do for a while." Jania raised her hand into the air. "While we're one the way to the hotel you can start practicing. I want you to create a spell effect ,in your case fire, from the tip of your finger. Like so, Glacies Videor." Jania said as she said her spell a small piece of ice former on her finger as if her finger were simply extending it's length in the form of ice.

"You will probably find this difficult but the technique will help you. Most mages channel magic through the palm, which is just as effective if all you want is power, however if you intend to silent cast, you work on power second and precision and control first."

((Just letting everyone know that I added a new Note on the first page: Spell Density. And I expanded on a previous Note: Spellcasting. Everyone should read those at their earliest convenience.))

((I am officially informing everyone that Blood is going on hiatus. She messaged me saying that she is being swamped by her school life and family stuff and other stuff and that she would like to take some time off, but that she would also like to come back when things settle down for her. So let's just pretend that she never came back with Damiano from the village and instead left on her own to parts unknown.))

((Okies, no more Mina *tear*))

Vilya finished the soup and set the bowls by the fire for people to help themselves, taking one for herself and sitting with her back to a tree.
"I'm glad we're taking time out for a meal," she said happily, lifting the spoon to her lips and carefully blowing the contents.
"So, what about you?" she said this to anyone who cared to answer, glancing around the clearing at each face in turn.
"Where did you come from? And why did you decide to become combatants?"

Tura's voice was teasing.

Sai walked over and helped himself to a bowl as well. He returned to the tree that he and Stratus had slept against that night and sat down against it. He took a moment to collect his thoughts while he took a spoonful of soup, and burned his tongue for his impatience.

"I guess the deciding factor in becoming a combatant for me was threefold. The first was out of respect and admiration for my family. My family has a history of producing powerful mages, and that's a legacy I want to live up to, and surpass. The second was because of my master. He's always been like a second father to me, and he's taught me so much. I decided that I wanted to be like him also, to become a Sage someday, and teach others. The last, was mostly just to get out of that dead end little village." Sai said and took another spoonful of soup, blowing on it first this time. "Oh, and by 'that dead end little village' I mean Phala, in the central desert."

Raidek nodded, raising his left hand up in front of him and pointed forward with his pointer finger.

He focused as best he could, his magical energy into his finger and spoke, “Incendio.”

His finger lit up, fire wrapping around the point of his finger for a moment before dissipating in a sputter.
