Mat but i dont want a ton of men i want Tanks.. TANKS why do you think im tank heavy But tanks only require 1 shot to be taken out of the battle. And part of my absolutly hate putting that much points cost in a unit that can be taken out with a single shot.

Sorry, but the codex clearly states that in order to field a AF squad or Conscript platoon, you must first field an Infantry platoon. If you want to field a second AF squad or Conscript platoon, you must field a second Infantry platoon. Sounds touch, but it's in the rules.

But what about the Steel Legion Mechanised Infantry, from Codex: Armageddon? It states clearly, and I quote, "All units in a Steel Legion Mechanised Infantry Company must either be vehicle units, or have a Chimera transport vehicle. Units that don't normally have the option of taking a Chimera transport vehicle, such as heavy weapons teams, must do so at +70 pts, plus the cost of any upgrades taken."
So if you want to field an IG army with lots of vehicles, I'd suggest picking up Codex: Armageddon (assuming that it's still around), and building up a Steel Legion Mechanised Infantry company.

You get the benefit of having lots of tanks and vehicles, while still retaining the advantages provided by infantry units. It's the best of both worlds.

I want all the Armour i have right now i might add a demolishe later on but im gonna buy another 2 squads, but then im not gonna buy any more for a while as i finish up building what i have. Then im gonna buy some space wolves, then i might got out to 2000 points

The Mech. Inf. rules from Armageddon are also included in the new IG codex and are the same. If you pick the Mechanized Infantry doctrine, then all infantry MUST be fielded with a Chimera. You still must pick an Infantry Platoon as basic troops choice which can be bolstered with an AF squad. As verification, I have run the scenario of fielding two AF squads as troop choices through IAL, which would not accept the scenario, Mech. Inf. doctrine or not. It's the same with Codex Armageddon.

Yeah but Chimeras have tissue paper for side and rear armor and then they really only have one use as weapons which is anti-infantry and with 6 shots a turn they are very good at that roll. But once again I would like to point out the fact that you spend 85 pts on a chimera which can be cracked with a lucky bolter shot where as it is impossible for an enemy to take out with a single shot and the squad can pour out over 20 shots at enemies.

Bloody hell, taking that risk will just have to something that most people take, right? Oh no! I field several vehicles which will most certainly be shot away on turn 1! Whatever will I do now?

Lt_Brookman Rhino's have cardboard army, but I don't hear Spacers complain about it. But Rhino's are cheaper and much much less valuable to the space marine player after turn 2 when they release their men into enemy lines. Where as an Imperial guard player isn't going to be relying on his Chimeras to transport men towards the enemy but to cut the enemy down before they get there. It's a matter of what exactly the purpose of the tank is and whether or not it is going to survive long enough to fullfil that roll. Rhino's have to stay alive 1, 2 turns tops before their mission is done and they run around begging to have a round of shooting wasted on them. Where as a Chimera has to act as a pillbox and that is going to last 3-4 turns before the enemies footsloggers get to the line. I have 3 chimeras in my army and I couldn't be happier with them however anybody who believes that making a mechanized army and loading every unit up in its own chimera is going to be in for a rude surprise when they get out on the battlefield.
