Out in the Indian Ocean somewhere There's a former army post, Abandoned now just like the war There is no doubt about it-- It was the myth of fingerprints That's what that old army post was for
Well, the sun gets bloody, and the sun goes down Ever since the watermelon And the lights come up on the blackhead town Somebody says, "What's a better thing to do?" Well, it's not just me, and it's not just you, This is all around the world
My name is Arazir, and welcome to my world

Arazir's World
Relations
Friends
Ebony--Ebene Pa'das, Ebony Pardus, she's the sorceress of the Akamri. We owe our victory to her, in a way, and she comforted my cousin in her last days. She is a good friend, and I can hardly believe she's an Akamri! A very good person, and I'm honored to meet her.
Lamia--Ebony's daughter. Very kind and enthusiastic. She also performs magic.
Mana--Another of Ebony's daughters. She can't do magic, but she does have the ankle wings, and she is a beautiful dancer.
Tisiphone--Lady Harpy, the mother of my eldest sons, Arase and Semirr. She wishes to be a warrior, but I'm not sure her heart is in it. She couldn't take care of our sons, so I decided to.
Enemies
Aka Pa'das--the so-called "Macaw." He is the last survivor, and he should be eradicated, the coward!

I am Arazir, of the Temer Karutok—the Deadly Fire People. We are the proud race by the Shining River, and whatever our enemies may believe, we are not weak, we are not pathetic, we are greater than they are, stronger and more determined.
I am a prince of our tribe, the son of our warlord. My mother’s family was taken by the cursed Temir A’Kamri, the people on the western side of the river. She managed to escape by hunting at the time. Her family had frowned on a maiden performing a male’s task, but when she brought the news to the chief of our tribe, his son admired her for her strength. That son was my father, and he united the scattered villages on our side of the river when his father was killed a few days later. It took many years, and by that time he had taken my mother for a wife and two others. He had seven children by that point, and there were more to come. He taught everyone to fight, and out of dissolute villages, he made the Temer Karutok. He became the Warlord, and I am the Warlord’s son.
Months later, my mother received a vision of her niece, her last family member on that side, being sacrificed to the A’Kamri’s sickening desires. My father sprang into action, and we went to war with the A’Kamri. We drove them out with spear, with bow, with machete and sword. Finally we drove them to their capital, and we gave chase to their last warrior when his comrades fell empty to the ground.
With the scourge of the jungles defeated, we had rescued a world from pain and slaughter. Our goal was achieved, but my mother still had a worry on her mind. Her vision had given her a glimpse of an A’Kamri who comforted her niece in her final days. She gave me the mission of finding that kind A’Kamri and thanking her for her comfort. I was reluctant to give up my search for the last A’Kamri warrior, but I knew my mother needed my help. I accepted her request.
Imagine my surprise when I found out two for one—the kind A’Kamri is the sorceress Ebony Pardus, and the last warrior her brother, Aka Pa’das! And they’re estranged…
And to think my life would be boring when we ran out of wars. Oh, this is gonna be fun!

The Temer Karutok—History of the Deadly Fire People The Temir A’Kamri, of whom Ebony and Macaw are two of the last, occupied the lands between the Shining River on their eastern border and the River of Endless Tears on their western border. They were a warlike and somewhat unpleasant people by present standards, and they had a nasty habit of enslaving their neighbors. Unlike the A’Kamri, their neighbors looked mostly like common noodles—pointed/tufted ears, fluffy tails, and relatively few animal features besides markings. The A’Kamri demonized them, and the abuse by their neighbors left frightened and resentful tastes in the mouths of the people on the other side of the Shining River.
For the most part, they were a series of scattered groups of similar but subtly different cultures. That changed when one tribelet was almost wiped out. The last survivor fled to the nearest village, where she plead for shelter from the A’Kamri. That tribelet agreed and she was accepted into their society. This was in no small part due to the obvious interest of the heir in her, and it was cemented when his own father was killed by another small raiding party of A’Kamri while investigating another abandoned village.
The new chief of their tribe decided it was time to get rid of the menace for once and for all. After his marriage to the newcomer, he visited the surrounding villages and convinced them to form a federation of tribes united against the A’Kamri. They in turn convinced their neighbors, or, when they couldn’t convince them the threat was great enough, they simply conquered them, allowing them to keep their own semi-autonomy so long as they joined the federation. The process took a few years, in which time the chief of the original tribe took two other wives and had seven children.
The federation became known as the Temer Karutok, and a governmental structure was formed. The original chief was named the Warlord of Karutok and given control of the army. When an army had been raised and trained, the Karutok went to swift war against the A’Kamri. Their excuse was the death of the Warlord’s niece in slavery to an A’Kamri temple. The A’Kamri were destroyed in a crushing defeat that they put up to prophecy. The proud Karutok put it up to their own skills.

Governmental Structure and Culture The Temer Karutok are made up of twenty or so tribelets as well as five major tribes. Each of the tribelets gets a vote at any of the council meetings to decide any problem that involves everyone. The leaders of the five major tribes also have an extra duty; each of them is the chairperson at the council meetings, there to keep order and cast the tie-breaking vote if necessary. The councils include the Council of Priests, the Council of Magic, the Council of Peace (for negotiating with other people), the Council of Lives (for the internal workings of Karutok), and the Council of War, which exists only when a war has broken out. The leader of the Council of War is known as the Warlord, and even in peace he is respected.
The five major tribes: To Me’Korr—“Sacred Sight Tribe” (Council of Priests) To Sanate—“Shining Future Tribe” (pronounced “sah-nah-tay”; Council of Mages) To Me’Sahale—“Sacred Shark Tribe” (“sahale” literally translates to “shining skin”; Council of Peace) To Satri Ebine—“Beautiful River Tribe” (pronounced “ae-bee-nay”; Council of Lives) To Karutok—“Deadly Fire Tribe” (Council of War)
The tribes for the most part get along. Most rivalries have been settled either by respect on both sides during the conflict with the A’Kamri or by friendly sporting games. The local language from village to village varies, with different accents in different places. The words are so similar to Temikakamri that people from both peoples could talk in their native tongues and understand 90% of the words the other said.
Individual cultures vary from tribe to tribe. They mostly all worship the same gods and spirits—most of them the old gods of the A’Kamri. Very few of them believe in the same sorts of demons the A’Kamri do, and those that do and believe in dream-protection also believe that charms can be made to allow same-sex couples to protect their children through dreams. To some extent, this rejection of A’Kamri culture is in defiance of their old enemies and also a legitimate difference in history.
To Karutok claims to be the oldest of the Temer Karutok. They aren’t, of course, but they were the founding people. They are perhaps the most warlike of the larger tribes, and they are certainly the ones for whom the people are named, but they were not quite the first. They get along well with all of the other tribes, and they encourage open relationships, especially in romance. Polygamy is not at all frowned upon and having as many children, adopted or otherwise, as possible is encouraged. As one might guess, they are laidback and willing to make fun of themselves—as many of their warriors like to joke, “We were created by a contest between Light and Flower to see who could create something more beautiful.” Some might consider it ironic that the tribe in charge of the Council of War would be most closely allied with To Me’Sahale, the tribe that heads the Council of Peace. They see no irony in this and welcome their freshwater shark worshipping neighbors as brothers.
