Yeah, the Wikipedia entry for Red Dwarf is incredibly comprehensive! It's basically got everything you could need to know about Rimmer's background! eek
I've been to Groovetown and listened to those songs - the pirate one made me laugh! xd I find it funny that he was singing "A Whole New World" once...just seems unlike the sort of song a guy would sing! But I do love that song! wink
I have a friend who's Southern, so I get to hear Southern accents a lot ^_^ I guess the only accent I can really do though is my one, which is basically the same as Rimmer's! razz Southern British accent!
And Chris's impressions of Kryten are gold! biggrin "Fun? Ah yes, the employment of time in a profitless and non-practical way!" xd

Cool! I just listened tot he 2 excerpts from the audio books again... crying I want them so much! I have read the books, but I'd rented them from my local library. Problem is, although I could just walk back in there any time, they've probably sold them by now. That' what my library does; once they have too many books in stock, they sell some to the general public. They did that with all the books about how Tolkien got his inspiration for Lord of the Rings as well... crying
But never fear! I shall now scour Amazon and see if they can aid me in my never-ending quest for RD memorabilia...
Oh, you just KNOW what I'll be blowing my money on once I get a job... sweatdrop Some young people blow their money on drink, some on drugs... I on the other hand, will blow mine on merchandise for a 20 year old comedy...

I've really gotta go to England sometime. xd I just love the accents. All of 'em. Perhaps because I live where all I hear are silly "y'alls" and "I tell you what"s. sweatdrop
If only I had a library that had the RD books... but no. I'm sure I'd have to buy them if I wanted to read them. gonk

I noticed that Skipper! 3nodding It's like, the Rimmer voice is just a bit more... trying to think of the word... posh sounding? No... well, you know what I mean... I hope... sweatdrop
Keldan, British accents are TEH BEST. As is our sense of humour... 3nodding Obviously, as RD is a British comedy...
Skipper? Could you do me a favour? Do you think you could Beta read my RD fanfic once I've done the first chapter? It's just, I want it to be all alright and stuff... sweatdrop Thanks!

Hmmm... is it just me, or does anyone ELSE in here feel kinda guilty that nobody is posting in the other 3 threads? I had designed this to be a fair system... sweatdrop

Yeah, Rimmer's voice is a little more high-pitched than his normal voice! 3nodding He does seem slightly more pronounced, too! And I love the British sense of humour biggrin The use of irony and dry delivery...it's the best! xd I'd be honoured to be your beta-reader, Jewel! whee I've never beta-read for anyone before, but I'll give it a shot! biggrin I love reading RD fanfiction no matter what anyway, so it'll be great fun! Made another quick icon of one of the Rimmer-related smeg-ups for your enjoyment! Timeslides (unfortunately it's too big for LJ...) sad I also have a funny sound clip of me sped up to sound like Rimmer in "White Hole" xd I'm debating on whether to post that though!

That's what I meant! 3nodding Pronounced... just like when he says the iradiated haggis line... xd
YAY! I have a beta reader! I'm alright with my Lord of the Rings ones; I'm confident with them, but RD? Nuh uh! I think it's because RD ones have to be humorous... sweatdrop I've been told I do it well, but I'm still not 100% sure...
xd I love the smeg up!!!!!!! 3nodding Do you mind if I put that one in my sig as well? wink
Please post the sound clip!!! Where do you post them btw, have you got a site where you can upload them to or something?

Oh, wow. I love that icon, Skipper. xd exclaim Mind if I put it in my signature, too?
Oh, yes, I readily admit that British sense of humour is WAY better than the American sense of humour... it seems like Americans are always copying British TV shows, too... do you guys watch a show called "The Office" or somesuch?
Well, anyway, we've got a new sitcom over here called The Office. And I just saw an episode last night. It was BORING. Incredibly BORING. Is it that bad over there? gonk

Oh, and: I am feeling a little guilty that this is the most popular fan thread... sweatdrop Ah, well, I guess it really all comes down to having members that are active guild-members who like to post.

Lol! I think we've got such a strange sense of humour because it's basically how we've all grown up... apparantly, during the war all people could really do was come up with jokes and funny song to pass the time...
The Office? Yeah, we've got that over here, except it's really popular! It's actually quite funny in some bits... was it the American version that you saw? Because I heard that it was pretty poor compared to our version...
eek Wow, I'm going for a whole post without mentioning Rimmer... crying This is bad!!! We need a new talking point about him, and fast!

Sure, you can use the icon if you want to! ^_^ I love that smeg-up xd Cracks me up every time! biggrin I'll upload that sound clip for a few hours and then take it down again because it's a bit embarassing xd Of course it sounds a lot more high-pitched than the show's version, 'cos I'm a girl! razz You will be able to tell from this clip that I can't do any sort of acting to save my life! blaugh Click hereJewel, I got your PM ^_^ I'll send you a reply later today! I've never really gotten into "The Office" - I didn't think it was all that funny myself, but I guess it's just not my kind of comedy. smile I've heard the American version's meant to be alright, but nothing special. smile There do seem to be a lot more posts in this thread than the others! I guess there's just more Rimmer fans than any of the other characters...he is generally the most popular character in RD, though, so that's what I'd expect anyway. smile Hopefully some fans of the other characters will join soon! A new point about Rimmer...hmmmmm...*ponders* Okay, which "H" do you like the best? biggrin hehe! I have to say I like the series III/IV one, but I also have a soft spot for the "original H", the series I/II one, even though it was enormous - it's the classic and original one! wink I always thought the series V-VII H was a little too thin xd

Yay! I'll just save it and put it on my server, then I'll put it into my sig... 3nodding
xd That sound clip!!! I can't really hear what you're saying but it's funny anyway, so squeaky! Lol! wink
Coolies! I can't wait to read it! biggrin
The only Office episode I watched was that one where he does that dance... the dance is funny, but that's all I watched of it, it didn't really appeal to me... sweatdrop
Fingers crossed! I feel kinda bad for the other thread leaders... sweatdrop
Yeah, Series III-IV. It just looked cool on him, lol! But the Series I-II one I love, just because... well, I just do, lol! I know what you mean about the V-VIII one, you couldn't really see it properly.
Oh, and I have another avatar idea for you... it's the bit in, once again, Thanks for the Memory:
[Holly]There's a reasonable explanation for everything... except maybe with the exception of little Jimmy Osmond.[/Holly]
[Rimmer]*the look on his face before he speaks; priceless! xd * Who?![/Rimmer]
I just love his expression, lol! blaugh
Oh yeah... do either of you know of a good way of getting avatar art? I've got a few headshots from the Freebie Art forum, but I'd like some nice looking bodyshots...
wink

Oh, and another quote, just because I feel like it...
[Rimmer]How was I supposed to know that everyone would choose that particular day to jump off of buildings?! They called it Lemming Sunday...[/Rimmer]
Oh, and another one...
[Rimmer]That's why I was an orphan, even though my parents were alive... that's why I had my appendix out... twice...[/Rimmer]
blaugh

Squeaky squeaky! xd
Yeah, it was the American version, Jewel. Quite boring. And for some reason they're hailing it as the best comedy since Scrubs (which actually IS funny). Bah. Useless reviewers...
Hrmmm.... well, I, like Skipper, have a soft spot for the original H. That one may be my favorite, actually. whee
Avatar art, eh? Well, I got most of mine just from friends... or requesting. Catsgame in the PAF does awesome and free art, but it's headshots only. But they're so lovely I doubt you'd care that it was only your head and shoulders. xd
