Zack Hoyt

”No, I’m not curious about them at all, and you shouldn’t be either.” Zack replied scowling at his friend’s attempt to get him to go after them as well. ”They can chase after her all over the city for all I care. And don't even think about inviting them to the show tonight.” As far as he was concerned, Syara’s well-being and safety was not his problem. It was the girl’s own fault for taking off like that in the first place. Fortunately for him, he wouldn’t have to answer any more prodding remarks from Cory as Rina had arrived at their table after ordering her ice cream. But it was then that she immediately started bugging him about the PCI job offer and he scowled once again. ”I’m not whining about it. Would you want to take a job offer from people who practically kidnap you and hold you against your will?” Zack retorted as Rina started to eat her ice cream.

A silence fell over their table and Zack leaned away from the table, but kept the four legs of his chair on the floor for now. He was about to ask if either of his friends knew where Nero was when Rina spoke up once more. This time, however, it was on the topic of their manager. He listened to her story, but his interest piqued when she mentioned that she had messed up in some sort of fashion. He looked sideways at her, one eyebrow raised in question to let her know that she should explain as soon as possible. At first it sounded like a routine disagreement about not being paid the last time they played at this one bar (the show being one that Zack remembered quite well given how the owners and staff treated them), but the punchline of the story being that she had fired the manager…

Zack set his jaw and slammed his fist onto the table. He was definitely not too happy with this news. Could his day possibly get any worse than right now? That a** of a manager was their main liaison to getting a place to play their songs anywhere in the city, and Rina had just fired the guy! But now they were going to have to go back to searching for a manager, posting up more flyers, and running around actually asking places in person if they could play. It was a lot of annoying work that Zack didn’t want to have to do, which is exactly why they needed a manager. In his mind, this was a huge setback for them. But this would leave them hanging while they went in search of a new one. ”Dammit, Rina! He may have been an a*****e, but we needed him!”

MATTHIAS KENT "BLINK"

Matthias was doubtful of the commander's orders given the faint trail he picked up on, himself. But Matthias submitted to his superior and made his way down the opposite direction. Maybe Pierson had picked on something he didn't, and maybe Syara had thrown him off course more than he thought. "Come on, prophet..." Blink said gesturing to Vision. His trail quickly went cold as the two traveled out of a nearby ally and back into the street. "s**t...." Blink hissed. They had surely went the wrong way.

Pierson echoed over the ComLink, advising the two that Syara was still nearby, and she had attracted some company. Blink stood in disbelief. What had Syara got herself into? Something did seem to bother her this morning. The two turned around making haste to Syara and the others. Her scent was becoming stronger, although hints of the hobos over coated loomed about. They quickly stumbled upon the group, coming to a rapid unexpected halt.
"I see you've made friends, Syara.." Blink said jokingly as he observed the others. What had happened here? Pierson didn't hesitate to intervene.

AKA The Silent Shadow . . .

They split up - Charlie following Pierson while the guys went in the opposite direction. The women followed the canal, and it didn't take long before they stumbled across Syara's mask, and a glove. This was bad news. Pierson radioed for the guys to meet up with them at their location, and they picked up the pace. There was a group of people standing in a circle not far from them, and Pierson recognized Syara first. Damn it. Charlie thought. The potential situation was pretty clear, and Pierson quickly stepped in to intervene, Charlie right behind her, taking up an aggressive, defensive position in front of the other two guys in question. Why couldn't we have found her sitting on a park bench, just enjoying her ice cream? That would have been too easy.

Blink and Aali arrived on the scene a few moments later, making it clear to the thugs around Syara that they were out numbered. As much as I'd love the exercise, hopefully this'll go down without a fight. Charlie thought, but she kept her ready position, just in case.

Outside the ice cream shop, Nero blew out his last cigarette, and ground the butt out under his boot heel. He'd nodded to Rina when she entered a few minutes ago, indicating he'd join them as soon as he was done his smoke. He opened the door now and stepped inside, the little bell tinkling overhead and setting off a string of possible melodies in his mind, while his fingers tapped them out inside his pockets. His band mates were sitting at a table near by, discussing something. Zack looked pissed off the way he always did when they weren't playing or at practice. Rina seemed to be worried about something, and he couldn't see Corry well enough from here to judge his mood, but it seemed like something was up. "Dammit, Rina! He may have been an a*****e, but we needed him!". Ah, so that's it. Our d-bag manager finally got the can. Nero thought as he slid into a chair at their table. It's about time, over due, if anything. But it shouldn't have been Rina to do it. Nero felt a pang of regret. He'd been hoping to put off that decision until they had someone else lined up, but good band managers with decent connections were hard to come by. "Zack, my man, don't be too hard on Rina. We've been trying to get rid of that fool for a long time. We can book our own gigs for a while, use past connections at places we've already played. Don't stress, we'll make it work 'til we find someone new." He lounged back in his chair, one arm over the back as he scoped out the counter from behind his shades. 'You think this place has decent coffee?"

Syara could feel Pierson travel across the channel to bring her back her glove. the man that she touched collapsed suddenly as her hand left his face and she too wavered until Pierson caught her. "i... i touched him.. I... he attacked me i didn't... know what else to do" she coughed and started to go a little pale as her mind started to shut down from the overload of information she had just stolen from the man who had tried to assault her. she felt horrible despite the circumstances. "Sniper..." she choked a little and passed out in Pierson's arms, feeling horrible and sure she would be locked away after this. the man on the ground before them was turning pale from shock, he would not like the results when he woke up later. he would have to find another way to make a living since he was no longer special.

Corry played with what was left of his ice cream while he zoned out Zack's complaining, looking up to glance at Rina as she settled next to him with her fruity snack. "you do have to admit Zack those two girls that came in were hot, id say not even rina could make them look bad" he increased his tone to make sure he got Rina's attention before looking to her "oh hey Rina we were just talking about you" he stuck his spoon into his mouth as he waited for her to tell them the bad news, it had to be bad news... her innocent face never looked so innocent... ever. " right... see i told you Zack, that woman was a bad... bad idea..." he leaned back on the two legs of his chair agian as Nero walked in too, "she was a bad girl too" he smirked before shouting at Neo "welcome the real world friend, that wasnt has you were smoking outside was it?"

Zack Hoyt

Zack ignored the comments Corry made about the apparent ‘hotness levels’ of both Charlie and Pierson for the time being. After all, his mind was more focused on what happened with their old manager. His situation with the PCI was taking a backseat at the moment. ”I wasn’t the one who found the guy to begin with, Corry. That was all you. Hell, the idea to even get a manager was your suggestion.” Fortunately for Corry and Rina, Nero’s arrival in the shop would keep Zack from getting too angry about this whole manager thing. As such, he relaxed a bit and leaned back in his chair once more. Nero was right, and he usually was, which was somewhat of a pain at times. He let out a sigh and ran his hand back through his hair. ”Yeah yeah. I just would have preferred it if we had found another person to fill the gap before we actually fired him.” Plus, the actual firing part of it shouldn’t have been left to Rina either. If it had been himself, Corry, or Nero it would have been fine. What on earth could that jackass have said that bothered the always-polite Rina so much that she would fly off the handle and fire the guy? Whatever it was, it was too late to change anything now. They were stuck with their situation, which going to prove itself to be a pain in the a**. ”Dammit... Good managers are ******** hard to find…” he growled to himself.

Katherine Pierson
PCI Psychiatrist and Commanding Officer

As Syara passed out in her arms, Pierson sighed. How was she going to explain this to her superiors. Syara wasn't dangerous, in her eyes. But her superiors, old company men who were stuck in their old ways. Anything different was a threat. Anything that could be weaponized, definitely would be and be used against them if they didn't use it themselves. Sighing a little, she looked to Charlie and then to the trio who had attacked Syara. "... Charlie, we're bringing the three of them to the office for questioning. I want them held until I sign off on their release. I am going to bring Syara home. She will need to be in a clean room for a while." Her eyes moved over the trio of guys who had tried to hurt Syara. She would prefer to see them all waterboarded and set on fire. Have their fingernails ripped off and their tongues and eyes and ears cut out and off. But she banished these thoughts from her mind quickly, now that there were others involved, there would be questions if they suddenly disappeared. At least for as long as they would be held for questioning. After that, Pearce could have a field day with them. Turning to her comrades she looked to each of them with a stern expression on her face. "As far as our superiors go... Unless we want to see Syara locked in a concrete jail cell for the rest of her life, I suggest we come up with a story to explain this... know that I would do the same for all of you. I trust you all with my life, and I would do anything to protect you. Even if that means going against direct orders." She watched her team for a moment before she shifted and scooped Syara up in her arms and started to head back to base, so she could bring Syara home. As she walked away she spoke to the team, "Detain them!" And that was her final word as she rounded the corner and headed down the street.

MATTHIAS KENT "BLINK"

Matthias looked over toward Syara and Pierson as the two walked past the trio. Pierson had given the order to stop the remaining two standing before him. He shook his head in disgust, turning his attention to the suspects. Who would have thought today would have brought about so much fuss? Blink sighed looking toward the ground, kicking a small rock that grazed past Charlie's shoe. "You guys need a new hobby.."

The kids posture suggested he wasn't budging without a fight. How cute... Blink was growing annoyed at this teens sudden.....vulgar behavior. As if the situation hadn't dragged on long enough. Matthias, suddenly bursting into a flash like sprint toward one of them, readied his right arm as if to strike. With cannon like force, his right fist burrowed into the stomach of the disrespectful teen, lifting him off his feet as he hunched over."I really hate to run into teens like you on the job.." He could hear the young boy gasp for air as he dropped to his knees, cradling his stomach. Blink said shaking his head as he circled the boy. He wasn't happy he had to punish the boy, but it was punishment well deserved. "Your parents won't be happy.." Blink handcuffed him, pulling him to his feet as he groaned, hanging his chin to his chest."New friends wouldn't hurt either, kid.."

Ice cream! Aali immediately stabbed a finger into the freezing substance whe handed the treat. He shivered and quickly pulled his finger out, putting it in his mouth instead. For a moment, everything looked cold and like frozen moutain tops, but the sweet, sweet taste rescued him from that. A person of chocolatey goodness then interrupted his daydream to lead him away, and Aali obediently followed Charlie. Then things started getting out of hand. He was having his ice cream, then clean up duty was mentioned, and suddenly they were leaving. Taken by surprise, Aali went along without complaint, and tried to sort out his head. The idea that they were going after Syara argued heavily with his memories and his desires. Aali knew they would be at base, and may have told Charlie to turn to walk that way if he had not felt bad about interrupting her. Most importantly though, he wanted to turn back and go to Zack. The band's livelihood was at stake!

Whether or not Aali did get to go back, he did know the band's future was brighter than this stench, however. Oh goodness. Aali crouched down and put his ice cream on the ground, then gave it a pet; with his appetite dead, so was the chocolate. A quiet burial, it is what the ice cream would have wanted, he knew. Aali held his nose shut from then on and went with Matt as per orders. With Pierson so on edge, there was little that could be done to change her mind. The boss herself eventually finding Syara did do the trick, though. Aali kept holding onto Matthias' shirt till their duo finally met back up with the others, and for few more minutes remained broodingly quiet.

With Pierson huffing and puffing and then kidnapping Syara, some random thugs challenging them, and all that came before, it was just too much. "LEMONS!" Aali shouted, and shot his leg up. The kick went straight at the nearest surface he recognized near him; a wall. A whimper was all that resulted from it. He ignored the criminals then, and pointed sternly at the wall. "Listen, Charlie, you're chocolate, okay? Matt, dogs should not have chocolate! And that's what happened to Syara." He took a moment of pause to let the same realization sink into the others. Then he realized it would not, and sighed. Aali composed himself and gave them a short story. "...She got food poisoning from a poorly cooked steak she ate last night. Was it steak night? I don't care! It took this long, but it did end up her becoming a bit feverish. So she went to barf, because this place smells, and she accidentally smacked a fish in the face and he was a psychie. We detained them on Pierson's orders to see if they possessed any talents, but no, they did not so we let them go tomorrow." Aali spoke on and on. He took a break to catch his breath, but coughed at the smell seeping back up his nostrils. "I wanted to be Zack's band's manager." He admitted sullenly. It had been meant to be ice cream manager day, and sure, he may have ignored certain warning signs about Syara in favour of that; but all this stress made it a big disappointment.

Aaaaaand, of course not. Charlie thought as one of the kids decided to take Matthias on. She watched as Blink landed a solid blow to the kid's stomach, knocking him off his feet and leaving him gasping for breath. Charlie looked to the remaining kid. "You want some of that too? Don't underestimate me, I fight like a girl, and I'm not afraid to scratch your eyes out." That was, of course, mostly a bold faced lie. She did fight like a girl, in that she had the speed and finesse of a trained fighter, and she wouldn't be afraid to scratch his eyes out if it came to that, but it was far more likely that she'd hit him harder than he would be expecting from a small girl like her, and she could use the surprise to her advantage. It didn't look like that was going to be the case though - between the one punch beating Blink had given the other kid, their leader on the ground, and the nervous looks the last remaining thug was casting at Aali while he yelled at the wall, he shook his head and held his hands up in the "cuff me" position without any struggle. Charlie sighed.

With Syara down for the count, I hope Matthias and Aali are up for some sparring. I seriously need to blow off some steam. She used her glasses to send a message to a true clean up crew near by to collect the former-Sniper's prone form, and gave them orders to relocate him when he came to. Then they frog marched the remaining thugs toward the street. Pierson had a local police badge she could show to any curious bystanders if they got too close or asked too many questions. Charlie also made a mental note to catch up with Aali later. She'd heard him say he wanted to be Zack's band manager, and she knew they had a show somewhere in the city tonight. With her Hacker skills, it wouldn't take her too long to find out where. Maybe they'd go see just what sort of skills Zack had as a musician. Charlie really hoped they were playing in a dive bar. She'd always wanted to check one out, and wasn't this just the perfect opportunity.

Nero chuckled to himself as he listened to Zack grumble. He knew they were out of the woods and wouldn't have to worry about Zack freaking out on Rina. And speaking of..."You alright, Rina?" Nero asked softly, looking over at her behind his shades. She was unusually quiet, and seemed pretty upset by the whole ordeal. Their manager was indeed a huge p***k, and Nero wouldn't put it past him to say something very stupid and hurtful to their only female member. Especially when the guys weren't present to back her up. Each of the band mates were protective of her in their own way. It was hard enough being a musician in this city, but being a female musician was worse. They put up with a lot of crap that Nero could barely even begin to imagine. At least Rina had the guys to watch her back. Other girls only had themselves. Rina could take care of herself, sure, but between the three guys, they made sure one of them always had eyes on her and that she never went anywhere alone during a gig.

"we are still gonna make it to tonight's gig right? we dont need the manager to show up and play, it isn't like you need to negotiate or anything this was preplanned right?" he really had no clue as to how managing worked, he just figured they could talk to the owner of the place and set up for the time they were scheduling for anyway. until they found a manager things would work out fine. "oh crap!' he stands abruptly as his hands slam down on the table and he looks scared "what if he canceled the gig! Rina!"

Renalissa "Rina" Rafaldi
Keyboardist & Backup Vocals

Rina looked down at the table when Zack snapped at her about firing the manager. She didn't think he would be this angry about it. They had been talking about firing him for a while now, and he was certainly a jerk, at least in Rina's opinion. "Sorry... it was kinda a snap decision..." She went quiet and finished her ice cream, not enjoying it as much as she hoped to. When Corry started to worry she swallowed and shook her head, having thought of the fact that he might try to do something like that. "I called them right after I got off the phone with him, told them he was no longer our manager so if he tried to cancel the show not to listen..." When Nero spoke she looked over at him and smiled a little, "Fine Nero, just a little stressed I guess... Sorry for making trouble for everyone..." Rina was a bit insecure about her place in the band. She always felt like she didn't pull her own weight, outside of playing keyboard and doing backup vocals. Anyways, we still have to go get ready and rehearse so... I say we all get one more ice cream and then head to practice." Rina tried to change the subject to something more positive, though it was a bit of a long shot for Corry and Zack to drop the subject.

Zack Hoyt

When he saw Rina flinch, Zack instantly regretted yelling at her. He hadn’t meant to get so angry, but the previous part of his day with the PCI had him on edge. So the news about the sudden firing of the band’s manager just was a last straw. He looked away from his friends and over at the ice cream display to avoid making eye contact for a few minutes or so. At the same time, he was listening to the conversation at the table. At least Rina had done a good job of calling to check the venue to make sure they knew not to listen to their old p***k of a manager. Zack closed his eyes and let out a light sigh to calm his nerves. ”Don’t worry about it, Rina. Not your fault. At least we still have this venue tonight, and that’s enough for me.” he said simply. ”I agree. One more ice cream and then rehearsal. We’ve got work to do…“

The huge, reinforced door slammed shut behind her, leaving the two thugs inside alone to consider their actions. If one of them didn't start screaming, they'd be left like that for 48 hours. Charlie was pretty sure they were harmless now without their leader, but they'd pissed Pierson off, and she wanted to make sure they learned their lesson through experience.

Charlie walked off, back down the hallway to meet up with Aali and Matthias, the screens on the inside of her lenses flashing as new web page matches were pulled up and discarded. She was looking through Facebook profiles, Google image searches, local "live music" websites, venue and event pages...anything she thought would help her locate not only Zack's band, but the location of the show tonight too.
"Hey guys," Charlie greeted them, coming to a stop and hooking her thumbs through her belt loops. "The thugs are in detainment, on hold for 48 hours. I still want to spar with you two, but we might have to wait a while. I haven't eaten anything today, and I'm starving." As if to prove a point, Charlie's stomach gurgled loudly, and she laid a hand over it, laughing. "Aha....So Mattias, if you wouldn't mind cooking up something quick and delicious for us, then we can get back to searching for where Zack's band will be playing tonight?" She grinned mischievously. "I haven't been out in ages, and with Pierson taking care of Syara, this is the perfect opportunity!" Pierson hadn't given them orders to stay on base for the night, and because she was preoccupied with Syara, it was unlikely they'd be needed. And if they were, the PCI Agents were only a message away.

Nero stood up, glad that the conflict was over. His boots squeaked on the linoleum floor as he pushed his chair back. "Alright, lady and boys, pick your poison and pay up. One last ice cream and then we jam." He extended his open palm for the crumpled up bills and lint covered change, and quickly memorized their orders, along with his own super-mega-deluxe Sunday with-everything-on-it and a coffee, black. He was looking forward to the show tonight. There was something about being in front of a crowd, playing out all your emotions and seeing them reflected back at you and making music people really dig that mellowed him right out. Being that connected to so many people was comforting and energizing all at the same time. Yeah, it's gonna be a good show tonight. I can feel it.

The "gig" was a nice bar just outside the heavy city traffic that was a well kept secret of the locals. With a stage off to the side it looked as though they would be playing music to some of the locals that were older than their target audience. "you see, it is places like this that made me hate the a** more and more" Corry grummbled to himself, just loud enough for those close to him to hear as he adjusted his setup and glanced around. "suppose ill have my answer soon enough, where are you guys going tonight?" He could take a few minutes to see what everyone was going to be up to later, if he could get out of his work he wouldnt mind going to see a movie or tag along with them for a while, one could take only so much of the work and sleep cycle before going nuts.

MATTHIAS KENT "BLINK"

With the criminals in custody, Matthias could finally enjoy the rest of his rather peaceful day, as the chaos simmered down. The agents began to walk back toward headquarters. It was a brisk walk. Matthias often walked with his hands dug into his pockets and his chin held high.

Charlie had suddenly stopped in the hallway bringing the group to a stop as they exited the detainment center. Matthias raised his eyebrows toward her, signaling she had his attention.
"Good idea.. Food doesn't sound awful right now.." said Blink cradling his stomach as it growled. He didn't realize he hadn't eaten in so long. A nice cup of coffee definitely wasn't enough to keep him satisfied throughout an entire day. He walked toward the "I could use the energy before I wail on you guys." Matthias said with a humorous grin. Blink could be a cocky guy at times, but it was more often fun and games rather than over-confidence. The next question was where would he cook, and what would he make for his companions. He had a few ideas. His appetite was calling.
