She was lightly yanked back as Josh took hold of her arm so he could get his words out before she stormed off but she didn't turn back to face him, for him to see more of her tears. Her heart was beating so fast that it felt like it was going to explode from overworking.

Ruby didn't feel good enough for him, being a woman who had her fun with men on the road and only to be caught out by some jerk, leaving her with a child that she could never take care of. How was she good enough after that? In most people's eyes it made her damaged goods, one to avoid at all costs. "You think this is easy for me?" Ruby said once he let go of her arm. "To say no to us?... Because it isn't"

Hearing the crowd cheer and woop at the music, she realised she had to go back out there and take a bow as one would do. She left her messy make-up as it was and just messed her hair up further to make it look like it was all part of the outfit.

"Tell me why then? Why are you hesitating if your heart wants so badly to connect with mine?" he asked standing there. "Am I...not good enough?" he then looked away stating quietly.

Letting out a deep breath he heard the crowd and everything. "Ruby, I'm sorry talk to me later in private okay? Right now you've got a job to do, bow to those fans of yours." he smiled through the pain in his heart. "Spread those wings, you deserve every ounce of praise you get..." he softly cooed then watched as she ran off.

Fighting through the pain in his heart Josh cleaned himself up before heading back. By then everyone was bowing and doing little tricks with their instruments. He silently watched her knowing that she hurt so much. Their show was a hit and he figured they would be celebrating Josh had no idea what to expect.

-------------------
Later that night....
--------------------

"I told you not to make her cry!" one of the men shouted at Josh as he slammed him into a wall pinning him there.

"We almost blew our chance because of you!" the drummer shouted with anger in his voice as the base player punched Josh in the gut.

He moaned in pain as they let him go leaving him lay there. "You may be her friend, but she doesn't want anything to do with you anymore! Josh, we've all changed deal with it!" the drummer said before all three of them piled into a car to go celebrate.

Josh lay there on the ground of the hotel room they were all sharing. He hadn't been hit hard but the pain of regret and in his heart hurt much worse. Slowly getting to his knees he wiped away his bloodied nose and buried his face on the edge of the bed before sobbing.

Ruby was distant after the show, and Josh figured she must have told them. They were right...but in his heart he couldn't stop himself. Josh loved her! As he wailed he suddenly felt a soft hand touch his back.

He looked up at her with eyes full of tears. "R-Ruby? I thought you went to..celebrate?" he coughed staring up at her with shock.

That night Ruby had locked herself in the bathroom. Mainly because she still felt sick to her stomach and because it was the only way she could get away from everyone. The toilet was going to be her best friend for a few hours.

She didn't hear any of the violence coming from outside the door because she had music in her ears to try and calm her down. It was mostly mellow, sad tunes. Ruby did however feel vibrations on the floor but had no idea what it was. Maybe the guys were slamming their heavy cases on the floor or something, not that she cared.

When all the thumping had stopped, she took one headphone out to hear what was going on. The sound of crying hit her ears, she knew the sound too well, Josh. Reluctantly she peeked out of the door and saw some light splatters of blood on the floor. What the hell did they do to him? They had no right doing it.
She dampened some toilet paper and walked over to him, not saying a word and kneeling in front of him so she could clean on the blood on his face. But she did however answer his question. "I don't pregnant women can do much when it comes to celebrating" she joked with a small smile to lighten the mood.

Josh let out a faint chuckle. "heh, yeah I suppose..." he softly smiled. "Thanks Ruby..but I deserved what they did to me." he said with a sad sigh. "Look at me, I'm a mess. Here I am supposed to be writing and out of your hair but I..."

Turning back to lean up against the bed he looked down. "I'm just getting in the way aren't I? Maybe having me around isn't a good idea, I don't want to hurt you Ruby."

"I'm sorry about before, your songs just got to me and I got carried away. You don't have to tell me anything, I won't force you. Though if I had the opportunity to go back in time and take that first chance...I would."

Nothing was broken but he just sat there not wanting to get up. Looking over at her he softly touched her face. "Your tummy feeling better? Do you need some medicine or something light to soothe it?"

"You didn't deserve what they did you to" she told him, wiping the last bit of blood from under his nose and his busted up lip. "They should've talked to me first.. but no.... I blame all the testosterone you guys have" she joked before noticing he had a little bit of blood on his shirt.

Ruby stood up and walked over to his suitcase to get him a clean one he could slip into. "Let's not talk about all the bad stuff okay? Like you said, you have some writing to do." She smiled lightly, handing him the shirt.

When he mentioned her stomach she gave a shrug. "I'll be fine. I think it's just all the excitement of today." She told him to try and ease his worry a little. "So, you said you think I should celebrate right? How should I do that?"

Standing up he smiled at her. Taking the shirt from her, Josh took off his shirt in front of her and began to put on the clean one. She didn't want to talk about it, but that wouldn't stop his heart from still wanting to be with hers.

"I dunno, what would you like to do? There could be a few ways to celebrate. If your stomach is up for it maybe getting some ice cream or something mellow." he suggested with a kind smile.

"No matter what, you were amazing tonight Ruby." Josh's eyes couldn't pull away from hers. Staring into them he blushed, they were so pretty.

She turned away when he changed his shirt. He wanted a girl with boobs but she wanted to be polite. "Ice-cream?" Ruby chuckled "It's like 1am, do you really think anywhere will sell ice-cream this time of night?" she asked him, looking out the window of their cheap hotel room which almost over looked the sea.

"You know, it's a clear night out there.. wanna walk on the beach or something before we have to leave here?" she purposed the idea to him.

Josh walked over and softly placed his hand on her shoulder. "I was going to suggest a walk but that didn't sound very celebrating. Still a walk on the beach does sound like a good idea. Alright." he said softly to her.

As they left, both of them figured her band mates would be back until morning. They were probably getting smashed and having a good time. Locking the door they headed out towards the shore.

He felt a bit nervous walking with her. His hands in his pockets Josh smiled softly. "This is a very pretty beach." he quietly said to her as they strolled. Maybe some air would help her not be so sick.

Ruby was happy he thought it was a good idea and if they were lucky maybe some crazy place was selling ice-cream at night. She didn't take a coat with her because it was one of those sticky summer nights and being pregnant made her a little too warm too. But before walking out the door she took a bag with her that had a few bits in it.

The fresh air did help her like Josh hoped. As they walked further she randomly pulled out a blanket from her mysterious bag and laid it on the ground, sitting on it so she didn't get any sand in her underwear which was easy considering she was still wearing the dress from her show. "Yeah, it is rather pretty.. come sit with me" she asked, patting the spot next to her on the blanket.

Josh sat next to her and stared at the waves. He wasn't sure really what to say next or what to expect. Though Ruby sounded like she was feeling better. Looking at her, she still wore that torn up dress and she still had her make up on. Though the moon was making her eyes sparkle along with her hair gleam.

She was a beautiful woman now, what happened to the clumsy pudgy teen girl that was always dragging him around? Not that he minded, he could still see his friend in her eyes.

Turning his attention back to the ocean he sighed. "Ruby..I..I hope I didn't ruin your performance tonight." he said softly looking down in shame.

The sound of the waves washing up the beach was a calm and soothing tone for her. She just needed a quiet place to go for a little while, but being in a strange place and at night made her want Josh next to her. There were many stories of people getting attack on the beaches alone, but they were just stories of course, a small chance of it ever happening.

Josh then voiced some blame onto himself which only made her sigh heavily. "You didn't ruin anything, it was just my stomach acting up.. I should've listened to what my body was telling me and not go as crazy as I normally do." she told him to try and ease his fears a little. It was then she started rummaging around in the bag she brought and pulled out a very flashy looking notepad and pen. It was one of those where you could take out the paper and add a re-fill if it ever got full up. "I was going to give you this before the show but I didn't really have much time to do that.. it's not much but I figured you'd want something nice to write in"

Josh smiled at Ruby. "Ruby..that was very sweet of you. Thank you. I'll use it for your next show. Though I hear that won't be until a couple months from now." he replied.

Scooting closer he hesitated before draping an arm around her. "I'll do my best to make you so famous and rich that you can spend the rest of your days either touring in a nice van and sleeping in a nice mansion." he said with determination.

"You deserve that, after all the hell you've gone through. Ruby, is this the only reason why you brought me out here tonight? You normally aren't one to drag someone off for a walk without something important on your mind. Go ahead, tell me." he said looking at the notepad in her hands. "You know how well I listen."

A smile grew on her face as Josh gladly accepted the gift she bought him. "Well yeah, it is gonna be that long but you never know really. Sometimes we need to find some clubs to perform in to get some money to tie us over for a little while. Or one of us looks online and find some places to gig in" Ruby explained to him, just incase he wanted some insight on how being on the road can play out sometimes. It might have been useful for his writing or not, she didn't know. Still it was handy to have that knowledge.

What did he just say though? Something about wanting to make her famous with lots of money to spare. Ruby couldn't help but laugh and fall backwards, rolling around on the blanket. "Oh Josh, you do make me laugh. That's not the reason why I do this. I don't care about the money. It a bonus for doing something I love, I'd do it for free if I could." she told him, looking up at the sky.

And once again, Josh noticed her mood. How the hell did he do that? "Well, I have to do something tomorrow that I don't really want to do. But I had no choice to agree to" Ruby explained, sitting back up. "The errr couple I saw want me to have a scan after every time I travel.. they know I'm going to be travelling alot but they don't know I'm in a band or anything. So they just wanted, updates and me to have them checked out often."
PostPosted: Sat Jan 11, 2014 9:18 pm

Josh really didn't find it funny. "Ruby, that's very sweet but you have to realize that money is important too sometimes." he said in a serious tone. Crossing his arms he nodded. "Well I'm still going to write good things about you and your band, even though I was kind of beat up tonight." he sighed.

His serious expression softened as he listened. So the couple wanted ultrasounds and such while she traveled? "Need a buddy to tag along so you won't be alone?" Josh asked sweetly. Placing his hand on her shoulder he smiled. "They sound like nice people by the way you speak about them. It's nice to know that your baby will be in a loving home."

Josh would support her, he was Ruby's best friend after all. "Something has been on my mind though, why do you want to...give up your child for adoption? I don't mean to pry, but I just never thought you'd want to do something like this." he said quietly to her. "I don't mean to pry, and you don't have to tell me, but it's just you and me here tonight. You seem kind of hesitant around me too. Have I..been doing something wrong?" concern in his eyes he wondered if his sudden appearance into her life had hurt her any.

She looked over to him once he offered to go with her. Why did he ever want to go? "Well the guys were just going to drop me off then probably go off buy more supplies or whatever the hell they do when I'm not around so I just assumed you'd go with them or do your own thing." Ruby commented but continued "But if you wanna go I guess I won't stop you or anything. Wouldn't be nice of me to say no to you considering the guys beat you up..." she looked down, ashamed of what they did. Ruby needed to have a serious word with them once they got back.
"I don't actually know much about them. I just know they have a big fancy house and the woman is kinda too busy to have her own children so figured they would adopt." she shrugged a little, staring off into space. "But I've been told I can see some more couples so I have more options on who I want to choose"

Josh then hit her with the question. The why question that she was waiting for ever since he figured it all out. "No, it's okay.. you're just curious which is natural" she smiled lightly. "Well to answer your question I guess there is a few reasons as to why. They weren't planned nor was this how I planned my life to end up as, the father doesn't want anything to do with them nor me, I'm single, hardly any money to my name to support myself and them." Ruby sighed, hugging at her knees because talking about it was tough. "I was just going to have them terminated but then I realised that so many women would kill to have a child and spend thousands on IVF and things like that. I felt guilty about even thinking it, so I figured I'd make someone's life that much better. Let this child have a mum and dad that will love them as their own and give them the life I never can"
