Albany was slumped against the sides of the gun turret. Her breathing was shallow her pulse slow. She'd ripped out the stints in her shoulder when she'd pulled herself up and between everything else she'd forgotten about the gun shot wound.
Albany! Albany answer me! D called to her as she started to fade. Yvette!? YVETTE!!! ANSWER ME, SWEETHEART!! YVETTE!!!!! He yanked himself from his card and appeared beside his daughter. He removed her helmet and saw she was pale underneath it. "MISSOURI! MONTANA!!" He yelled to the two females in the front seat. "HELP ME!!!" he cried nearly hysterical with worry for his eldest daughter.
"Yvette!? Yvette answer me!! Please answer!!! Yvette!!!" he lifted her head gently and looked into her eyes.
Yvette's eyes fluttered open. Her normally bright brown eyes dull with pain. "....D...." she mumbled before closing her eyes again, her head lolling forward.
D glowed bright green in distress. "Yvette...? Yvette!!!"

Kyna couldn't get out fast enough. She ran to her sister, sweeping off her helmet. "We have to get her still," she said, a numb, cool part of her head taking over. "Take off her shoulder plates and breastplate. We need to stop the bleeding first before all else." Before she could say anything else, it all came crashing into her. "Yvette," she whispered. "Don't die. They say that if you believe you can survive, you do. Don't give up--how could we live without you?" She brushed Yvette's bangs away from her eyes. "You're my heroine, Yvette. We wouldn't have survived without you."
Pi nodded and climbed out of Monty. Silently she began to remove Yvette's armor. Her breath was sucked in when she saw the wound. "Yes, blood loss could be very bad for her right now. She's in a great deal of danger. Do we have any anesthetics or antiseptics?" She turned to Yvette and smiled gently. "You're my heroine, too," she murmured. "Now live, please--I hate losing a friend, and besides, York'd kill me if I let you get killed. I could never live with myself, either. Just hang on, Yvette, we can get you out of this."
"I'm fine, thanks," Monty said loudly to no one in particular. However, she was not looking for assistance. She had lived with far worse--she remembered vividly one time pissing off Tex, who had shot her in the lung...not pleasant. With the others occupied with Yvette, she climbed wearily atop the turret and kept a watch. She wouldn't put it past Command to send a Hornet out to find them.

D trembled. "The bullet at least isn't in her shoulder....it went straight through..." he shook as he watched steadier hands take care of Yvette. "She had me apply analgesics, stints and pain killers on the move...she must have ripped the stints out though...Why didn't I notice!?" he gasped looking at Yvette. His eyes misty even though he was incapable of actually crying.
He thought quickly though and pointed under the drivers seat. "Usually a med kit under the driver seat in these things...if not she's got a med kit on her...She needs to be kept warm though...and fluid..." he shook and wraped his arms around himself. "York is never going to forgive me for letting her get hurt..." he sobbed. "I...I never should have let her come..." he said wrapping his tail around himself.

Satisfied Yvette would have the best care possible by the others and she would only get in the way, Miss split her supplies and left some with D and K to work on Yvette and took the rest over to Monty. "How about I help you with that?" Miss asked as she set the supplies by Monty.

Wiping away a few tears--she must have inherited the ability from Dad--Kyna pulled out a blanket from her pack. She looked around the area where they had stopped; a few trees scattered here and there, a few fallen branches on the ground. "Maybe we should light a fire?" she suggested. "We probably don't have enough blankets to keep her warm by themselves when night falls."
As Pi continued removing the sweaty armor, she stopped and gasped. She...she...Pi gulped and took a deep breath and slowly took the AI storage unit from Yvette. "D...she took the decoy." She looked up at her fellow AI to see him in distress. She put the unit down and threw her arms around D's shoulders. "It's okay, Delta, we'll pull her through it. Whatever we do now, I'll make sure she pulls through." Pi smiled ruefully. "It's my fault, really. I convinced you five to come with me. If anyone's to blame, it's me."
Monty grunted and tried to push the supplies back towards Miss. Overbalancing, her head spun and she gripped the turret desperately in a vain attempt not to fall over. Gravity won in the end, pulling her down almost on top of Miss. "Ow," she said, hanging half off the Warthog. "Yeah, all right," she grunted, "just so long as you don't waste too much time on me and get straight back to Yvette." Monty struggled to pull herself into a sitting position, feeling around for the bullet's exit hole. "I must be the luckiest damn fencer ever. Straight through, no ricochet." She began to ease off her armor, wincing as she was forced to move her right shoulder, the one that had been grazed. She paused to watch Yvette. "Poor Yvette," she murmured. "Miss...we can't let her die. D, what can we do?"

D suddenly remembered the second AI and nodded as Pi put her arms around him. "She couldn't do it, Pi...she couldn't leave who ever is in there...so she brought them with her...I guess we'll give this one and Epsilon to Bastian to look after...he'll be able to look after them until they can be released." he said rambling. It was his defense mechanism when he was upset. "We have to stop her bleeding and bandage her shoulder and wrap her up...If enough of us stay close to her we'll be able to keep her warm while Missouri or Montana drives...We can't stay out here...we need to get her home..." he continued to tremble slightly. "We can get fluids in her...we'll have to push those...broth would be better but we haven't got anything like that..." he continued on until he finally shook his head. "I really need to shut up..." he said more to himself than to anyone else.

"Yeah sure thing, "Miss said absently as she started helping Monty. Her mind was focused on what little medical knowledge she had and started to bandage up Monty.
Keeping an ear open for what the others were doing, "I'll drive D, Montana isn't in any state to do it and would be better if both of them rested."

Monty nodded. "Yes, we have to get her home." She scootched over as far as she could in the shotgun seat. "Kyna, Pi, maybe you should keep your solid form--we'll need as many warm bodies as possible."
Pi stared at the other unit and finally nodded. "She's a good person," she whispered. "You and York did a good job raising her. I wonder if I'll ever do such a good job." She shook her head and wrapped the wound with a bandage. "Eps will probably be damaged," she added. What was this strange feeling? Numbness? She had to use it now before she began to break down...before the thought of Eps tearing himself apart and Yvette lying so cold and small on the ground in front of her brought her spiraling down. Carefully she reattached as much armor as she could over the thick bandages and helped her to the vehicle.
Kyna climbed in next to her sister, staring ahead. I almost lost her. The thought brought everything crashing down...her father...her friends...Bo...she'd left them all behind...Bo! I never said good-bye to you! How could I have not said so? Kyna wrapped her arms around herself, staring straight ahead, lost in turmoil.

D nodded absently as Missouri spoke to him. "Whatever is necessary." he said. He then turned back to Pi and gave her a very faint smile. "One of the last things she said to me....she sounded so much like him...I thought she was York..." he sniffed and instantly moved to try and help Pi with Yvette. His paws shook so much he had to stop though as he worried he'd end up hurting Yvette further. Although he did manage to help Pi get her situated in the back of the warthog.
"She looks so small..." he said. "I never noticed how small she is...I mean she always complained about being tiny but...I never..." he broke off and scrambled up next to his daughter curling himself as tightly as possible to her still form. He reached over and moved her bag closer to him and rooted around until he found her canteen. He then probed further until he found her rations. There wouldn't be much they could get in her, but anything would be better than nothing. She'd need everything they could get in her and more. He looked back at her and caressed her face. "Please, hang on, sweetheart...please..." he whispered to her.

Gently Kyna wrapped her arms around her sister, trying to keep her warm. "It'll be okay, Yvette," she whispered. "Just hang on. You'll get through this, don't worry." Kyna tried not to cry, but she lost that battle as she clung to her sister, sobs wracking through her. Her sister was all that she had had for so long...her closest friend, her most faithful companion. How can I go on without you? Just hang on, Yvette...you'll be okay...I promise.
Monty grunted and moved to sit by Yvette and the others. As she did, a sharp pain split her side. Ignoring it, she struggled to plop down beside Yvette. "We'll keep you safe, girl. We all ready to move?"

D carefully unscrewed Yvette's canteen and tilted her up. He then carefully poured some water in her mouth. He then recapped the canteen and nodded. "Yes...as ready as we can be." he said. He looked at Kyna draped over her sister. He reached out and took one of her paws in his. "We won't let her go if we have to go in her head and knock sense into her...We won't loose her, K."

Putting all the extra supplies away, Miss quickly got into the drivers seat. She wanted to get home as quickly as possible, even if she had to drive all night. Making sure everyone was ready, Miss started up the warthog and they were finally heading home.

Kyna smiled at D gratefully. "No, we won't lose her--no matter what, Daddy. You're right." With that, she made herself comfortable and fell asleep.
