Faust blinked, slightly surprised. "Um... well, it's the breastbone. Right here, between the lungs?" he said, pointing. "And you hold the scalpel like so, index finger on top... steady...."

"That was wonderful, Netsubo!" beamed Faust. "OK. Now, I'm going to take the opportunity to open the chest cavity..." there were a series of sickening cracks as Faust pried apart the rib cage, "...and, we're set! Everyone come up here and take a look at all the organs!"

"It's not every day that cadavers are made available for the use of a class like ours. Now. Today we're discussing the cardiovascular system, and I'd like to draw attention the the heart and the major arteries..."

"I can't believe he's getting away with this!" Lyserg said, as some very solemn high school freshmen filed out of Faust's classroom. "I mean, I know he's Faust, but still..."

"Wow!" Faust said, his face slightly flushed with happiness and excitement. "Great class, wasn't it?"
"Well..." Lyserg said. "I don't think a lot of fourteen-year-olds are comfortable with taking apart a cadaver, Faust. I mean, isn't that just for medical students? In graduate school?"
"Well... yeah... but I think everyone should get a chance," Faust shrugged.

Several other teachers were there, getting ready to conduct auditions properly. "Ah, thank goodness you're here, Doctor Faust!" a tubby man with a monocle said. "I was beginning to worry that you wouldn't show up. As directer, you have a responstibility!"

Lyserg read that, and then Faust, and then Mephistophiles. "Very good!" Faust said. "I'd like to see you for callbacks, definitely, Lyserg. Netsubo? Will you read for us, please?"
