Oh. Huh. "So...Toby's like the guy who signs all his permission slips. I see!" He smiled in understanding. "That's right," he said, and grinned. It was true, after all. "Spend the night tonight?"

Dari looked to the clock. While he may have an eidetic memory, his conception of time was not always 100-percent accurate, even if he was counting aloud. As such, he turned back to Cody and shook his head.
"We have plans! You actually have to go get dressed."

Plans?! Cody paused before releasing Dari's hand and kissing his cheek. "I'll go get dressed," he promised.

"It's not anywhere super fancy," Dari said, and then held his arms out. He was already dressed for it. Business casual seemed the way to go.

Within a few minutes, Cody was dressed and ready to go. "So where are we going?" He asked as he stepped out of his room. He kissed Dari's cheek.

Dari had just been waiting. He let the balloons go slowly one by one and they danced on the ceiling. He smiled, and turned his head down when Cody returned.
"La Formosa. It's an Italian place a bit out of the way, but it has amazing reviews. We can try it for the first time together."

Cody smiled at Dari. Dari even knew his favorite food. He took his hand. "I love sharing firsts with you," he said.

"I do too!" Dari said. "I also have a surprise for you after, if you'll come to my place." That was why they were going to dinner relatively early, so there would be appetite and time for cake.

"A surprise?" Cody echoed. "Alright," he smiled, and kissed Dari's cheek. "Let's go, love." He paused and looked over his shoulder at the folder. "Should you take it with you? I don't want it falling into the wrong hands."

"That's very considerate of you," Dari said, "but it's printed on unmarked paper. Don't worry. Anyone who got a hold of it would think we were just crazy people. If it really worries you, you can go put it somewhere safe?" Safe. "In fact I could buy you a safe."

"We are crazy people," Cody pointed out. He released Dari's hand only long enough to tuck the folder into a drawer. "A safe?" He asked. "That's not a bad idea. I don't want anyone finding you guys out."

"Technically I'm a sentient semi-fluid," Dari said with a wink. He took Cody's hand back when he returned.
"It's not a big deal now, but when you become an ally you'll be trusted with more information," Dari admitted. He avoided using the word 'if' even if his mind told him it was more logical. "Anyway, I think you'd be surprised. Toby makes a game of telling people exactly what he is and what he does and they always just laugh with him. Or at him."

"Well, of course. Especially around Halloween. Hey, I'm a werewolf! Is going to get laughs." He smirked, and then paused. He looked serious for a moment. "Don't start doing that, love. If you met a crazy who believes..." He shuddered at the thought. Dari would be in a lab. Probably dead.

"No, of course not. I'm too easy to unmask," Dari agreed, smiling. "Trust me, my life was incredibly careful before I got the ring. I walked around all day as myself, but painted up. Anyone who saw my eyes could call me for an entity.It was terrible. I would never have been able to go out and meet people. I never would have been in a relationship, at least not outside of HQ, and most people are afraid of me there, or don't understand." He shrugged. "But that's the past now."
He started out with Cody, locking the door behind them and heading down the stairs.

Cody gave Dari's hand a squeeze. "You must have been lonely," he said. Not being able to go out and meet people like they did now, he couldn't imagine. He kissed his cheek. "I'm so glad we met," he said.
He followed Dari down the stairs.
