When he heard something about not being safe, he stood up straight and put his hand to Sky Tear. "Run? They're just bandits. Don't tell me you haven't fought bandits before." He said, that's when an archer popped out of the blue. Aiming at Sarah, they took a clean shot. Pushing her out of the way, he took it in the shoulder and pulled the bolt out. "Argh, damnit." He said clenching his teeth. That was when another one would jump out of the bushes and take it air, coming down at Sarah.

She aimed her small bow at the man coming at her. Closing her eyes, she fired, reloaded, fired, reloaded, jammed. Sarah scrambled backwards, taking the machete from its safe place on her belt. It was a crude weapon, but she found it could hack at limbs as good as any axe and was much easier to maneuver.
Her ears perked up, listening for anyone else. As the forest was foreign to her, here eyes would not help. They stayed shut.

Finally, Black unsheathed the magnificent blue blade and brought it into the air. It shimmered in what light could be found coming through the trees. "Yes, maybe it would be better for a retreat. Run now and only cut down whoever gets in the way." He said, cutting through the first person to run out in front of him. Due to the nature of the jewel, there a small spray of water. Grabbing her hand, he rushed forward hoping that she would run on her own.

Sarah held tightly onto Black's hand, trusting him to lead her out; her machete held tighter in her other hand. 'Just great girl,' she thought to herself, 'wait till word gets back of this...' The bounty hunter's muscular legs pumped as she ran beside her charge.
"Told you so!" She stated very bluntly about their current situation. It was almost a taunt the way she said it.

"Couldn't resist a challenge. Though I'm not as great at sword fighting as I use to be. Now, lets keep going. Once we reach the city, they'll stop following us." Black told her as they kept running. 'Nice mouth on that girl.' He thought to himself before they suddenly stopped. The gate was in plain sight and in front of them a line of bandits. Looking over to Sarah. "Remember what I told you? Charge!"
He shouted, running forward with her hopefully beside him. With their weapons already drawn, he managed to push through them and continue on.

Her blade had been in a defensive position, keeping her exposed side safe. The drag she had felt confirmed that it tasted flesh. The thick treads of her black boots dug into the dirt, helping her keep steady. Sarah hadn't even realized how tightly she was holding Black's hand.

When they passed, as soon as they had gotten close enough to the gates the bandits stopped chasing as he said. When they had gotten far enough in to the city, Black just laughed a little. "I swear that happens every time I go out." He told her and then looked over. "So, how about a drink?" He asked rather plainly.

"Every time you go out?" She couldn't help but laugh. "You take a girl whose never been in these parts out there with you for protection and fail to mention this happens every time?" Sarah put her machete back in it's place on her belt. "The things that happen cause question don't get asked."
'Price of being a bounty hunter and a Brown Coat,' she reminded herself.
She found herself still clutching his hand. "A drink would be lovely, thank you."

"Well, luckily I know a tavern around here." He said, leading her through the city to small tavern. The upkeep was great at least. That's only because he paid quite a bit when he came here. Leading her up to the bar, he sat down and looked down at her hand. "Something wrong?" He asked before looking up at the barkeep. "Mead for both of us." He said, letting her sit down as well. "So, ever run into something like that before?"

She averted her eyes as she leg go of his hand. "Nothing's wrong..." This tavern wasn't like the ones back home. There were so many more smells piled on top of the basic ones. Conversation seemed more whispered. "And I've only ever run into something like that in a place I knew. They were kids, thinking it would be funny." Sarah closed her eyes. "The town didn't blame me. They'd been having problems with the kids. Always told the boys they would get killed one day if the kept it up."
'Why am I unloading on him? I'm getting outa here first chance I get..maybe that's why....'

"Ahhh, I see." Black said as both of their drinks arrived in record time.He grabbed the mug firmly and took a sip. It wasn't the greatest taste, but it was relaxing. "So, you killed troublemaker kids on accident?" He asked, curious about it. "I can't exactly compare, though I had a man executed once, only to find out it was his twin brother on the loose. Not sure if that compares. I really ate it from Katherine then." He told her. "Life is very interesting, Sarah. Sometimes we see the strangest things when we don't want to."

"It wasn't an accident," she replied before chugging half her drink. "Why does the stuff in the rich parts always have crap compared to the poor?" She mumbled to herself as she down the rest. These were interesting times to say the least.
Sarah eyes fell on his hands. "And sometimes, we see the strange things happen right when we want to. Only, they are more strange and, sometimes, more terrifying than we thought they would be..."

"The sad part? This is the poor part of the city." Black laughed as he looked around. People were just more behaved around him then he knew. He laughed before chugging some of his drink. "In Llyr, you will see some of the most messed up things. Even more then we realize." He told her, then turned to look at her. "You would hate to hear about the kinds of people I know."

'Poor? Ha! At least they live in the capital...'
Sarah turned herself fully towards him. "Oh really now? Maybe I want to hear of the kinds of people you know." She purred, trying to egg him on. "Maybe these people make your existence more interesting."

"Well, lets just say once you're in the story, there's no getting out unless you die." Black told her, swinging himself fully around to face her. "There are powers in this part of the world you don't want to mess around with. Gods and Goddesses who will want to toy around with you at every turn. The people I know, some may even contest the Gods themselves. Think you still want to stick around?"
