@Timmy: That's one way to describe the seals, though a slightly scary parallel. (The new seal list is still in dev, so you wouldn't have seen it yet. XD Iroquois really just get early game bonuses, sadly, but they were the best in the options I found for how I wanted to play. Forests within friendly territory act as roads, so if you base out of a big forest you get sweet boosts to troop movement, they replace the Swordsman with Mohawk Warrior, which has a bonus to combat in forests, and a city building that boost production from forest tiles. I don't have any expansions yet. BNW cost more than the actual game, so I'll probably pick up GaK eventually instead, assuming I keep playing. So far I've just been playing standard, but I'll probably switch to marathon when I figure everything out. Probably raise the difficulty a bit too. I only killed one city state to be permanently declared blood thirsty. Technically I also slaughtered France, but they had declared war on me three times for no reason and I just got sick of it. They knew they would lose, but kept trying for some reason. And nobody cared about that at all. Edit: Just in case you hadn't noticed, it's your turn. ~ @Sora: That's basically how most are set up. Each stage has techniques of that rank level, and maybe a couple one higher. Equating stages to a rank is a good method. http://i747.photobucket.com/albums/xx114/HinoteTosatsu/Banners/Cards/NagisaCard_zpsf120d90b.pnghttp://i747.photobucket.com/albums/xx114/HinoteTosatsu/Banners/Cards/KenseiCard_zpsc372d368.pnghttp://i747.photobucket.com/albums/xx114/HinoteTosatsu/Banners/Cards/SoraCard_zps389bdac5.pnghttp://i747.photobucket.com/albums/xx114/HinoteTosatsu/Banners/Cards/ShikakuCard_zps6a81b1c7.png

But... One of the seals IS a bomb.
Yeah, I can kinda see that. Like they start out close to the height of their entire existence, and then they kinda plateau off, since they never reached that point.
Wait, GaK is an expansion pack? O.o I just bought the Civ V that was on sale.
Ah, okay. I've been playing standard too, and I was wondering if you could have told me anything about the difference. [aside from the time of course.]
I played as Rome first and France never even got to found a second city before I surrounded it and absorbed it. I only killed a city state in a multiplayer match with some friends. I also spent like 30 turns trying to take it with ranged units instead of a melee unit.
Yeah, I just can't think of how Laxus would respond to this. Honestly he'd probably have missed everything since he was more focused on using Shikaku like a bloodhound to find Kensei. >.>

lol, go with that then. Shikaku wasn't trying to be sneaky or subtle when he approached Kensei just now, so if laxus was using his eyeballs he'd easily spot him again. And since Kensei left the group, if Laxus was watching Shikaku, well, he'd see Kensei move out.
I do kinda wanna see now what Laxus reaction to spotting Shikaku casually wandering around eating cotton candy would be.
~
You probably got the deluxe package then. I didn't have enough cash for that one so got the basic. They were all on sale though.
Starting to think we should make a Civ thread for the Civ stories now... It'd actually be fun to tell the story of my current game. It's actually pretty hilarious. To me, anyways.
Interesting thing I've found, thinking back on the game thus far, is that there actually IS a story that grows with it. it doesn't feel entirely like you've just played a game for a few hours and that's it, but that a world has developed. A world full of stupid people who can't just let go of a grudge, but still!
I haven't tried multiplayer. How does it work? Does the game go at normal speed and you just have to wait your turn, or can you leave it and come back, like a long distance chess game?

Yeah, he'll probably see Kensei before he finds Shikaku. Mostly so Laxus doesn't walk up to shikaku and try to kick him or something. And Kensei is a bigger target.
I'm not absolutely certain what it would be, kind of a mixture of wanting to kick him in the teeth because he's supposed to be tracking Kensei [And Laxus won't make the connection Kensei left the group Shikaku is in.] and some mental quips about Shikaku being a little kid. xD
~
Huh, I only found the version I'm playing on sale. At least one that wasn't cards.
Does anyone else even play? If we'd have like one or two more people, then getting more people together and starting a thread would be pretty awesome.
Yeah, on my Austrian one, me and Egypt had a faling out, and Attila regularly declares war, and as soon as he reaches my border he declares peace and apologizes. xD Then on my Hunnic one, Pacal the Mayan has dropped to his knees not once, but twice asking for forgiveness when I killed his spies. [I killed Attlila's spy too, but he never stood up from his chair, just sulked in it and looked like he was gonna cry.] Not really a story so much as an anecdote.
Multiplayer can either have each player taking turns, or everyone moving all at once. It does go at a normal pace, maybe a tiny bit slower if anything. It is pretty fun if you don't get kinda screwed in where you settle. [The first game I got stuck on a peninsula with my friend who was playing Germany. Luckily I had tons of minerals around where I settled so I was able to churn stuff out still. Didn't have any coastal cities though... sweatdrop ]

Think Martin said he played didn't he?
Yeah, France declared war on me three times. The first time, he made it to my border and actually attacked, but got wiped out like nothing. Instantly surrendered and gave me literally everything he owned to make it up to me. The second time I never saw a single French troop before he gave in and, again, gave me everything he owned. The third time, I didn't give him the chance. Just swarmed straight into his territory when he declared war and started beating him senseless. He asked for peace two or three times, still offering me all he had, but I was tired of the annoyance, and figured I'd just take his land and get everything he would own in future anyways.
Best part was when he declared war, every time, he said something along the lines of "I know I will fail, but I must try!" Also the fact that he was still friendly even after losing every time, and even asked for an open borders agreement after the second "War".
Course I somehow pissed of Siam when they declared friendship and then tried to force me to give them all my stuff and I refused. They never quite got over that.
The city state I killed was under their protection too. When i attacked the guy started threatening me, but never actually did anything to stop me. After it was done he showed up, said some whiny thing or other, and honestly looked like he was holding back tears. I'm pretty sure the options let me tell him to go cry about it and move on. (Either that or it was just "Get over it".)
Oh, and, fun trivia, in my world, England owns the United States. And they're alone on the continent too. Yet still incredibly poor. I don't understand that.

HadoKennie Just throwing this out there. Sora may get attacked by a bird in order to stop that jutsu. Incoming extra-convenient trip and accidental triggering of the prepared jutsu *coughcough* mrgreen . Jk jk. I won't abuse Sora's clumsiness like that xd . Or will I ninja ?

Yeah, I 'm pretty sure Martin said he does. I wonder which version he plays...
Oh, France never really decided to declare war on me, He just got pissy that I settled a bunch of resources within 8 or so tiles of Paris, and so I just decided to end him. xD It was so great, we were like 20 turns into the game, and it was my first game. I just surrounded him with warriors with a second ring of Archers and just demolished him.
You got them to say they were going to lose? O.o on mine they all say something like "You will die!" And then I just leave them burnt and maimed, and they try to make peace. xD [In my hunnic one, every single time I was one turn from taking a city, Napoleons like "Hey, I'll be nice to your city state if you declare peace with me. Yes, no? ... Yes?" The best part is even my city state ally was kicking the crap out of him. xD]
That actually makes sense when you thing of Siam at the time their ruler was in. They were kinda self entitled arseholes, along with the Mayan, Aztec, and those guys. Then you have Attila and Ghengis who will pop up just to tell you. "Hey, your army is kinda weak. I could win a war! Lol!" And their faces just look so happy while they say it too. xD
But Hinote! He loved that city-state! But that is probably why they still dislike you. xD I also love the get over it option. It has got to be my favorite. Egypt gets on me about almost everything and every time I just tell him to get over it.
Ha! Even England can't beat the recession.

Yeah, France had an army of about three units, while I had about ten to fifteen. (Early game) So he knew quite well he was doomed.
I got a few like that too, but they were on my "Culture". That was on a different game though, where I got a bad start and Greece denounced me for no reason like three turns in. Alexander just kept popping in every once in awhile to taunt me about my borders not expanding.
My military advisor likes to joke about how weak everyone else is. "I don't think [Civ X] even has an army at all!" "I think I saw [Civ X]'s only military unit today. It looked so lonely." Both direct quotes, not even paraphrases. Mostly.
I have over 200 influence in one city state, because I saved them from another civ, and completed some things they anted done. All of a sudden England starts threatening me, after I've had this influence for years, telling me I need to back off from their city state. I'm just like, yeah, okay, good luck with that, and tell em to go jump in a lake.
Honestly now that I own most of my continent the game is a little boring. I'm thinking of just pissing everyone off and starting World War II. (World War I being the everyone vs China from before.)

And... We have a clear example of what lack of communication does xd . Not like everything has come crashing done, of course mrgreen . It's all quite a good lesson for me, actually sweatdrop .
To clarify, while being seen wasn't explicitly part of the plan, I wouldn't have regretted it if Sora was seen as long as she could catch up to Kensei and stop him. In fact, with her eventually jumping in front of him, I think it's somewhat inevitable that she'll be seen. I just wanted her to give everyone else a chance (hopefully the best one possible) to do whatever they could do at the sacrifice of some offense on her end. After all, even if Sora is the strongest, I think two genin being free to do something is still better than one.
EDIT- Then again... With Kensei fully distracted by Shikaku, this actually is the better course of events. A much better course I would think. Hrm.

Indeed. He has in essence turned Kensei's entire attention on the weakest team member (Who he's not certain is a member), while putting his back to the stronger attack force. I expect in a real mission he'd have brushed Shikaku off and moved on, but I'm calling it a victory. Even if that genjutsu will give him a massive headache due to being used while he had focus on sight.
Edit: Shikaku's entire plan from when he started approaching Kensei after ditching Laxus was to get close to him and hopefully stall him while drawing attention to himself somehow to bring in the others. This basically speeds that along, because the others have already seen him.

Wow, I didn't know that they had that much first part power... O.o I really feel lucky that the one time I played against them they got wiped out about halfway through, and they're very friendly.
Your "Culture"? xD I've never had them comment on the size of my country and I just played and entire game with only 3 cities and still won.
xD I've had that first message once, and that was on my Austrian game while we were killing France. Poor France, I don't think that it ever survives.
Nice, I don't normally mess with the City States, though on the game I just played I did, because they provided awesome buffers if anyone tried to fight me.
Yeah, you could do that, or you could just get perfectly buddy buddy with everyone and influence them to kill each other. xD
Like I just said, I played a game in one sitting and won on a cultural win, I ended the game with a +784 culture per turn, and like a 273 in military force. I seriously only had 4 composite archers. xD Austria kept trying to use their spies to rig the elections, and since I had no military or anything to spend my gold on, I just kept paying them off and blocking their Coups with my own spies. xD I just gave everyone the things they wanted except for Research treaties [Because they didn't research ANYTHING! seriously, like halfway through one civ had like 5 techs, and we were at 1000 AD-ish.] I started surrounded by 4 city states, so I'm sandwiched between perfect damage sponges. Like in the fast 20 turns, only 3 before I started the Utopia project, my buffers started to die, and they were like "Oh, you were protecting them? I seriously didn't know even though we have been friends for the last 100 years!" And I didn't want to make them target me, so I was just like "Eh, it's perfectly fine, no biggy." I stopped Austria from strategic marrying like 10 times. I swear she started to look angrier and angrier. xD

Huh. Spies and stuff must be part of BNW. I know religion is GaK. I've never had a lot of the stuff you're mentioning happen, and I'm currently in the modern era.
I think I'd go for a time victory over cultural myself. I mean, I'm at the top of all the lists now. Despite having like thirty cities my citizens are quite happy, I have more gold than every other civ combined, three times over (Not from trading either, just from per turn turnover. I have a gold income of like 400 per turn from just cities.) More technology and culture than anyone else... The only way I could actually lose a time out victory is if everyone swarmed me and actually managed to take me down. Hence the world war idea.

I only have GaK. You get the spies around the Industrial Age, though some of them get it at Ren I think.
Cultural is kinda boring, but it would be a perfect sneak attack in a multiplayer game. Especially since I don't think people can tell when you adopt policies.
Yeah, That's what I did on my hunnic one, and after I ran out of time, I just decided to go straight for the kill on Mongolia, the only people I left alive, and I just used the nukes on them. xD I had like 20 cities, since we were all on islands. I ended the game after razing all of the enemy cities I had [Including the ones I took from Mongolia right before I sacked their capital.] and ended it as the only power in the world save the city states. I have to say though, if you don't have the difficulty up to Prince level [level 3 the first medium] they will fall like flies to your army. I'm thinking of bumping mine up to Prince just so I'm actually a bit more worked.
I kinda want to do a Science victory with the Apollo program, and then a democratic victory with the UN.
