The door slid open, revealing a chamber with gold runic patterns etched into the white marble floor (obviously, the Translocation setup is costly.) A large gem, glowing red, was held by a gold and marble stand to waist level. there was a large... window of sorts, showing a hazy vision of another area. Clem shook his head, "We aren't going to Ylos..." He twisted the stand, which clicked twice, the vision changing each click, until it showed a room with a window overlooking an oasis.
"There it is! Now touch the crystal and you'll be transported to that area."

Ephlas touched the crystal without hesitation.
((Meh epic one-liner!))

(AND THEN IT EXPLODES! KILLING EVERYONE IN THE ROOM!
...no...)
The room blinked. Clem was gone and the door was shut. Then Clem suddenly appeared, touching the crystal.
"See? nothing to it!" He walked over to the door and opened it to a large room with a steel-supported glass dome pointed at the ground, where an oasis was. Other Academy members moved around, some with glass boxed with plants in them, others with clipboards and paper. At one side was an incredibly bored woman in red and gold robes. Clem approached her.
"Hello Cindy!"
"Ah! If it isn't Dr. Clem... what brings your to Outreach?"
"Science!" Clem smiled back.

"Morons." Ephlas interjected, walking up beside Clem. Then he looked around quickly, and raised his hands in pretense. "Not you guys - my moron allies who are currently traveling the entire desert."
Another look around, then a sigh. "Can somebody show me a map of our exact location?"
((Steel?))

(Steel, since the Academy likes to test things, they've experimented with metals... smelting iron and combining it with coal creates steel. Steel is a good thing for a floating building in a desert that would suffer sandstorms... Plus steel is actually quite old... it was just more impractical in older times... since coal was too useful to waste to combine with steel... but the Academy can use magical gems for fire, so who needs coal? If it helps, magic was used to shape it.)
Cindy nodded, placing a small model of Rantuinne that mimicked the land. some parts of it were missing, showing the wood it sat in. Cindy pointed at a small green spot, roughly in the center of Rantuinne. "This is outreach oasis. The blank areas are unexplored desert... sorry, but Horde creatures keep us from mapping it out..."
Clem nodded, "Is that any help, Ephlas?"

Ephlas noted the map with understanding. "So, Clem, care to map out a section of the desert with me?"
Then Ephlas turned to leave, walking towards the edge of the floating building or whatever.

"Really? Now?" Clem hurried after him, "I'd love to!"
(Okay... it should be noted: Any Outreach Academy building floats, since the Academy may want to move them later. The Main Academy is massive, and also floats, but it is more for a visual effect of awe for Eopia, rather than utility. The buildings in other countries that aren't outreaches are on the ground. Does that help?)

((Makes sense. Be sure to remind Ephlas to show Clem that 'thing' he couldn't show the scientist. 'Cause Ephlas will 'conveniently' forget otherwise.))
Ephlas hurried to the edge. "Let's get down from here, then. ...How do we do that? How high are we?"
((Gtg.))

(alright. I'm not sure if you'll know what I mean, but my inspiration for the airborne Academy buildings comes from a place called Duskwither Spire in World of Warcraft.)
"actually, there is a lift for that... If you go to the room to the right, it'll take you down to the gardens below." Cindy called, "Just keep your arms and legs within the railing."

((Hullo. ^_^))
Ephlas walked into the specified room and waited for Clem. He was so impatient that he was again considering leaping off of the building. But, once again... that would be stupid.
~
In other words, Dakon walked into the room that contained Valthere and the two elves, in Rantuinne's capital. (I might have told him to do this already but no one took notice.)
~
As said before, Helena was trying to figure out any strategy that would be effective against Baelta - she was in Elmire's conference room/map room, presumably along with His Grace as well.
~
Is Tanessa, Cedric, and the other Magus even in this RP any longer? They can be skipped to Eopia by now... maybe have some interaction with Leonard or the prince.
~
Are there any other loose ends to tie up? Raedou and his group haven't moved much at all. Myrrelda is waiting for them at the location of the prison they're heading towards.
~
Bael walked into the room where His Majesty was located, having been summoned to plan for their next move... or something like that.

Clem stepped in, "Glad to see you waited. Take it down!" The lift shuddered and slid down, nothing but arcane energies holding it up. bronze railing kept them from falling over the edge as they settled into a notch inside a clay building below. There were even more Academy researchers, but they were in large glass buildings filled with plants. The academy had built greenhouses for testing plants. An odd reddish-tinged plant at the sand's edge was most prevalent. Clem nodded at it. "That's Korubin tangleroot. It took a while to transplant a few, but they've been invaluable. their massive roots stretch through the soil, and are really hardy. It keeps Horde away from the Oasis and lets us study in peace. Also" he pointed up at the floating building, which was surprisingly high up, "The main building is out of reach of anything the Horde is willing to risk. Technically, we're safe as long as we don't take steps to irritate them. They don't even know we're here..." Clem moved to a flat stone with a blueish gem on it. "We're going to take a cart pulled by one of our sand beetles. It'll ride out on the disk, and then it'll pull us to where we need to go... Does that sound like a good plan? We can't risk attracting Horde attention..."
---
Malakai looked at Bael, "Ah! I need your help... What are we to do now? We've turned this city into a citadel, but the Baeltan people need more space than this if we wish to stand once more on our feet... What should we do, my adviser?"
(long post... I'll wait for... Kaye to post before Rantuinne's ruler's post.)
