"Oh, I'm sorry." Trident adjusted his grip on the old book. "Sure, I don't mind Ace. As long as you can identify who the person is behind the nickname, then its all good." He smiled at Loria.
The blond girl explained the reason of her strange powers. Trident listened intently to what she had to say. ""Actually, I think I might have another power, something that Mother might be hiding from me." She said. "Hmm...well, I'm sure you'll uncover your hidden power someday. Just take your time, I guess." He said trying to ease her nervousness.

She smiled...miraculously.

"Yeah, maybe," the girl said with a sigh. Her descent was something that had been bothering her for some time now. Born of a human father and a Muse mother, she inherited her musical talent and her intellect from the father, while her powers came from her mother. A story, she heard, was that her mother ran away from the other Muses, tired of how obsessed the other Muses were with their looks.

Mythology.

Right, she thought. She switched glances between the two. "Tride, Loria, do you guys know anything about the Muses?"

Loria beamed at the girl's compliment, secretly proud of the name she made for herself when she was found at the temple, not even able to remember how to speak. [her state at that time was almost like a newborn baby, only that she learns a lot quicker.]

"I'm sorry, but I think you're mistaken, and no, I don't know about Muses. I can only control paper, and other things written on, and I think I can control up to, uh, 50 metres? But if you need help to control your power, come to my home, sometime. My adopted aunts know more about magic than anyone else I've ever met. They should know about Muses too."

And I've met plenty of sorcerers, she added to herself. Secretly, Loria envied the girl, wishing she could have a mother. With another mental oh well, Loria smiled, trying to comfort the girl. "You know what? My aunts, one of them is named Circe, the other Galene [Galene is a Greek goddess I found sometime ago, and I like the name very much]! If you didn't know better, you'd think they're twenty, but actually, according to them, they're thousands of years old!"

[Lol, I guess I'll research them sometime]

{ that's cool! rofl I have to go..some other time again, dudes!}

Tride was happy to have made some new friends so quickly in one of the most meaningful of places. He thought about his grandmother who, in the past, used to read to him the most magnificent of titles. From the classic story of Macbeth down to the most action-rich tale of James Patterson. He loved those times very much which is why he missed her so. The teenager sighed and shifted back to what they were talking about. "Nope. I was from a small town therefore I've never heard of the Muses."

[aw...bye, then!]

(( crying ))

"Oh, okay."

Her disappointment was imminent in her tone of voice. She thought, maybe she should have asked her mother about being a Muse, or half a Muse at that. But her mother told her that even if you were a half-Muse, or even one-eight Muse, you'd still be able to use the powers of the Muses to its full potency.

Sepherene hadn't reach that level yet.

"All I know is that they're mentioned in mythology," she added. "But it's no biggie..."

Loria didn't like the disappointment in the older girl's voice, "I'll write my aunts, actually, I'm going home...right...now..."

Loria cursed herself for forgetting, and smiled awkwardly. "Uh, I was saying, I could ask them any time, and they should know. Just, uh..." She thought fast, really fast. "Uh, come to the school gates with me, I have a feeling they'll be there. You can ask them then." If I tell them I've been helping this girl here, they wouldn't be angry...I can tell them she offered to share a dorm with me or something...

Loria felt bad for dragging Seph into her lie, but she really didn't want to get into trouble. She mentally kicked away the part of her saying she doesn't need to lie, finding trying to reason with her aunts too much trouble. She admit it, she's way to lazy for her own good.

Mikashi walked into the library with his hands playing with his thumbs and his head looking around at the books and computers. Might as well try to learn what I can about this place. Mikashi pulled up a seat at one of the computer before looking around the room and the people around him. HE swallowed nervously and began looking through the school's website.

"Well, if it's about mythology then don't hesitate to share." He smiled at Sepherene. For Trident, fact mixed with old legends and myths attracted him so. To untangle the real from the surreal is quite impossible majority of times.
It seemed as the two girls were going to go for a walk. Something funny was going on but he ignored his instincts. "Well, I don't think I am invited to this little trip of yours. I better go then. I don't want to be a bother. I'll see you guys around." He waved as he headed out of the library.

Mikashi had finished checking out the school, slightly satisfied. He stood up and watched a guy leave the library. Wanting to see what there was to do for fun around here, he folowed him.

Sepherene wasn't one to detect lies...yet. Her powers were juvenile, despite their potency. Manipulating an area meant becoming like a god to the place, or in her case, a goddess. If she had mastered her powers to the right extent, she would have been able to sense premonitions and thoughts. Unfortunately, these powers were still a mystery to her.

"Sure, I'd love to meet them," she replied. The blonde-haired girl was a bit gullible in these kinds of situations, wherein she could become too trusting when she had a positive outlook on a person. But the girl had her own motives and goals, of which learning about the Muses was her primary goal. Perhaps these aunts of hers know about the Muses, the girl thought. Oh, how she'd love to learn more about them! Maybe that way, she could understand her heritage and the secrets to her power. There were secrets her mother kept from her, and now she wanted to find out what secrets those were.

"Lead the way if you may," Sepherene gave Loria a polite gesture. "I'm in your hands for now."

And maybe I'll learn about my mother more, thought the tall, blonde-haired lass. Loria seemed to have no evil intention. And why would she? They were both of the same level in that school, were they not? Peers, as many would put it. Trusting others was a dangerous game, Sepherene had learned once too many times.

But that's the thrill of the game of trust--you have to be willing to take risks.

"Well then, let's go!" Loria said jubilantly. She would ask about the Muses when she meets her aunts, she was just...making sure she wouldn't be in too much trouble with Circe and Galene.

She led the way to the door, eager to know more about these Muses. Seph said her mother's one...I remember they're some kind of goddess. Lore paused a bit, surprised by her own hypothesis. Does that make Seph a goddess, too?

[Hm, I was wondering if you have an idea about how the Muses will be like? You wrote their powers, after all. And do you have an idea for Seph's mother's secret also? Maybe you can tell me and I'll have the aunts tell Seph.]

((aw, well, that'll give a lot away mad d , but I guess it's okay. NO TELLING OTHERS! I'll tell you via PM...which is probably best, anyway.))

Sepherene waved a goodbye to Trident, who merely left without saying much. Interesting lad, she thought--he must have had something to do anyway. The girl followed the other lass, wondering what answers she would get from individuals who delved into mythology. The blonde recalled how bitter it was in her previous schools, a girl who was only half a normal human. There was none to talk to about her state of being, a girl who appeared to be human, but whose blood was that of a mortal's and of a goddess's.

The girl noted this, at least: Her mother also seemed to be bothered by the fact that she, Merethesse Elcine Chastierlaine, was a Muse.

Sepherene had tried using the internet to research about the Muses. She even went as far as visiting vast libraries filled with tomes and books from top to bottom, left to right, books wherever the eye turned. Not much information those books provided, she had to admit. But this she knew about the Muses--there were ten of them, the tenth being nothing but a mystery:

Calliope--the Beauty of Speech.
Clio--the Glorious One.
Erato--the Amorous One.
Euterpe--the Well-Pleasing.
Melpomene--the Chanting One.
Polyhymnia--the Singer of Many Hymns.
Terpsichore--the One Who Delights in Dance.
Thalia--the Blossoming One.
Urania--the Celestial One.
Sappho--the legendary Tenth Muse.

A question remained: If her mother was truly a Muse, then which one would she be?

[From the Front Gates]

The school map clutched firmly in her right hand, Hitomi entered the library with a flustered expression on the small face; of course, she'd gotten lost. But she was here now, and that was all that mattered. Stepping into the quiet compound, she breathed a sigh of relief and hurriedly walked to a small, empty table on one side to the room and sat down, removing her bag from her stiff shoulders and inhaling deeply. The pine scent from outside was gone here, replaced by the comforting smell of musty old books, which excited Hitomi more than the first snowfall of the year.

The library, Hitomi noticed, was composed of two floors, with a large spiral walkway connecting the the first and the second. Bookshelf after bookshelf lined the walls, with books that looked as old as time itself. Hitomi stood up then, eyeing the shelves as she placed her bag in her seat. It was a habit she developed back when she met Sadie in the city, and she hadn't let go of it since.

"Now what to I want to read exactly..." the small girl mused to herself as she scanned the shelves for anything that could catch her eye. Nothing did, and she quickly moved on the the next shelf, and the next, until she was all the way up on the second level in a part of the library where no one else was around. "There's nothing here...!" Hitomi thought incrediously. "This is crazy... I've never been in a library that didn't have anything goo-"

She froze midsentence as she scanned the top shelf and noticed a dark, dusty book that looked like it hadn't been opened in years. On the spine, she noticed her village's alphabet written sideways in bright silvery symbols. "Midori migyo tahle... Midori's mythology..." she murmured to herself before reaching up and pulling the book down with all of her might. It was heavier than it looked, and Hitomi let it fall to the floor with a muffled thump as she began to flip through the pages. This was defiantely a rare find.
