Tao wiped his brow and caught his breath. It looked like he managed to get away from the cherubi. But, also got himself lost in the process. He leaned on a tree in order to apease his exhaustion and put Meren down.
">You know, now I'm kind of glad we ran away. That thing was a bloodsucking plant!<" Meren had a look of dismay on her face, as she was facing toward the cherubi when she was being carried over Tao's shoulder.
Tao looked around to hopefully get his bearings but there was all this fog in the way. He promptly decided to pick a random direction and start walking, a direction that Meren followed him down. Next time, he quietly thought, next time he hoped it wouldn't be a grass-type.
(Alright, I think that's all my questions for now)
Mudkip [F] Meren, Lv 2 Nature: Timid Bio: Meren was given to Tao just before being shipped off to Akumu academy. She hands a good amount of teamwork to Tao, as she is very obedient, but she never stands up for herself. Her introversion might have been caused by some sort of abuse prior to meeting Tao. Meren is unsure of what to think of Tao so far, since the only experiences they really share is a boat ride and a pokemon battle. This fight was going nowhere fast. But given he was currently at the halfway point in his health, the Poochyena was starting to get worried. He hadn't even successfully touched the damn cat. He snarled furiously, and took off in a dodge deeper in the cave. Perhaps he could lure her down further into the darkness.
The Aerodactyl's teeth snapped once again on thin air-- he'd only just barely missed as Hiro careened down the steep incline. For a second or two, the Aerodactyl hung over the side of the almost-cliff, claws digging into the cracked earth. For a moment he considered following the whistling meat... but he thought better of it. This one was too loud, too pushy, and just too annoying. He turned around and lumbered off, looking for slower, quieter lunch.

Hiro's quick descent was rapidly reaching it's end. The incline suddenly leveled out, and he could see that this was going to end badly and there was little he could do to stop it.
"Oh ....darn it."
Was all he could express as he hit the ground at any strange angle and the run turned quickly into a tumble that ended up with the boy ...dusty, gooey, and just place exhausted. It didn't help that that little tumble had his leg and back hurting after ...after that Geodude mishap.
The boy would get up slowly and with a limp.
This trip was really start to get him down, but then he reminded himself that he was the world's greatest trainer. This wasn't nothing ...and thus, he would limp away without a more determine glint in his eyes.
The boy's effort was slowly starting to gain him some results. Hiro could smell it in the breeze, and taste it in the air. He was getting closer to the sea, and soon... soon he would go back and heal his Pokemon. Then he would make this place know his name and the sands would tremble and the earth will quake.
It was a dream of delusion, but it was a very sweet dream.

Perhaps it wasn't as much as a delusion as he might have thought. A Pansear rested on a set of nearby rocks, playing with what only could be seashells. She ignored him entirely, engrossed in whatever torrid melodrama she could picture with shells.
Hiro would hear the sound but for the most part, he would ignore the source. He would simply continue onwards as he would head towards the sea. The horizon seemed to suddenly have a tint of blue on it. He was getting closer.
His miss adventure was almost over.

Once again, he'd come across a Pansear... this one, however, was set up right in the middle of the path. He stood behind a waist-high rock, three upturned cups resting in front of him on the stone. Upon seeing Hiro, he'd point at the trainer, calling out loudly to him. >You there, young man! Are you willing to test your mettle and intelligence against my own?< With sweepingly exaggerated hand gestures, he'd motion once to the boy, and then once again to the three turned-over cups before him. He raised one of the cups up briefly, enough for the trainer to be able to see a berry under it, before quickly slamming the cup back down. >AAAAAAAAAAAAAND... SWITCH!< Quicker than the human eye could follow, he'd begin to spin and switch the cups around, raising a small dust storm around him. the cups came to a sudden halt, and he'd step back. >Well? Take a guess, young man! Where's the berry?< Despite knowing that humans couldn't understand him, he'd point to Hiro, then to each cup, then Hiro again, all the while wiggling his eyebrows in an over-the-top fashion. Never underestimate the power of body language~

In the Garden of Monsters
A pansear, a cute monkey flame type pokemon. He could ignore it, was Hiro's thought when it stood in his path, but when he realize it wasn't moving ...the thought started to turn much more violet. That was until it started a game of gestures, and quickly, he realized what he was doing.
The boy would follow it to the cups, and body language was no longer necessary. Though it was entertaining, he knew this game very well. Though when he didn't see a gesture for him to pony up, it gained a bit of fun for him as he watches the cups twirl whirl and move.
Then slowly when it stopped, Hiro would point at the middle cup.
Not sure if he was right, but hoping he was ...since he didn't have to give up anything.

The exaggerated and cheesy grin never left the Pansear's face as he reached towards the cup Hiro had indicated. With the careful grace of a showman (or a grifter), he'd spin, grab the cup, and reveal...
... absolutely nothing. >Ah well! Such a shame, suuuuuuch a shame,< the Pansear remarked, shaking his head. >Oh well! Catch ya on the flip side, sonnie jim!< In several swift movements, he'd grab the berry from under the left cup, snatch something black and bulbous from the right cup, and took off wit his items, cackling into the distance. When all you had was this desert wasteland, one chose... interesting pursuits to keep amused.

It was bad luck once more, but Hiro didn't worry too much about it. It was a fun game, and he had put nothing towards the game ...so it wasn't bad at all. Afterall, he could have lost something instead of simply not gaining anything.
Thus, he would walk away from the game. He would head onwards towards the sea, and back to the academy.

It was a long walk that was full of peril, and he had to admit that he was quite lucky at least to escape the dangerous with his head. Though, Hiro didn't spend a lot of time wondering as he would tap the side of the boat to rouse the ancient Kingdra.
"Let's go."
The older pokemon would pull him back to the academy.
