Devon stepped up closer. "Hey. I'm here. Kaleb and Theresa, saved you. Save us." he said shortly. He'd asked later how they had, but for now he was just tired and content to have Lark alive.
"And as soon as we're finished you're going to stop walking." Theresa said. She had a bundle of bandages and such in her arms. She came prepared to treat as many injured as possible.

The field were the battle had started was silent. Many walked around pulling away injured, warily welcome those rogue who gave themselves to the pack and gathering the dead. It wasn't a happy place. Kaleb and Theresa were careful to stay away, going to a spot out of sight of the battle field were wounds could be treated as well as possible.
Lark and Devon were taken care of quickly so Lark could be taken to the hospital. Theresa would have like to stay and tend Devon's side and chewed up shoulder, but he refused to be away from Lark and wanted her treated as soon as possible.
Though unhappy about it, Kaleb understood and oversaw that pack for that night.

Devon smiled wryly. "I was fighting to save you and to keep a powerful and bad wolf from getting the kingship." he explained. "I wouldn't have been down faster if he hadn't cheated."
Kala, one of the other women in the pack was driving. "Those are going to heal up bad without treatment." the woman pointed out.
"I'll get them stitched by Dr. Larson. He'll be cooperative." Devon assured her.
They were almost to the hospital and he leaned over to Lark, before the EMTs come. "I don't think they let me stay with you the whole time, but I won't leave you okay? Not for long." He wanted her to know for his own sake as well as hers. Being awake from her made him anxious, as if she could disappear at any second.

Devon grimaced at know of the EMTs tried to get him on a stretcher too, urging him that his wounds needed to be clean. But he wouldn't yet.
He hated leaving Lark as well, more than he showed but he would try something. He turned his stare on his mate and smiled.
I'm not leaving you he said, through their bond. All you have to do is close your eyes and I'm there.

Getting stitch up and bandaged didn't take long. He comforted Lark as long as she was conscious. Yet, his hands shook at the silence. It wasn't empty, he felt her, but he was afraid it would disappear. From now on he wasn't letting Lark out of his reach.
Finally he was in her room in fresh close holding on to her hand, waiting for her to wake.

Devon awoke slowly and groggily looked around. He saw Lark and smiled. He was happy she was alright.
"Hey. How are you feeling?" he asked, sitting up and running a hand through his hair

Devon's jaw dropped. She had gone threw torture and died because of his and here she was apologizing for it! He couldn't believe it. How could one girl be so ridiculously selfless. She should be angry at him at least.
"My God. Lark, you have nothing to me sorry for. If anything I should. I'm sorry I put you through all the pain you suffered. You paid a higher price than you deserved for being with me." he said.
He took her hand and kissed it gently. "I wish I could erase what happened to you."

Devon chuckled. "You are infuriating sometimes. You. Are. Not. At. Fault." he said, brooking no argument. "The odds were against us both. I'm just happy you're here. With me."

"A little, but it's nothing." he shrugged."You on the other hand should get some rest. I'll still be here when you wake." He smiled and moved a strand of hair from her face. "I love you"
